Chapter 482 - 420: Nus, Farewell!

Chapter 482: Chapter 420: Nus, Farewell!

King Oro’s death prevented the Undersea Kingdom from persisting in hatred, for their king was dead, as was the Elves’ king.

The Merfolk no longer demanded the Logos people accept the faith of the Water God Angel, as if they had forgotten the disputes between the two races and henceforth never mentioned them again.

And the Nus Kingdom fell into sorrow with the departure of King Oro.

King Simir welcomed back the remains of King Oro and buried him in the distant Holy Land. The exile of Nimirda left the Elves, who despised the Merfolk, powerless to spark another rage. They could only hide it in their hearts, silently witnessing the burial of King Oro in their grief.

Had the rift between the two races been healed?

Perhaps it had, or perhaps not.

Those Logos who despised the Merfolk and scorned the Undersea Kingdom would follow Nimirda’s departure, with countless people entrusting their hopes for the future and expectations of faith in Nimirda.

They called for the arrival of a New Kingdom, a better world.

Beneath those repeated calls, thousands journeyed to the Holy Land to offer sacrifices, acting as devoted Priests, kneeling and praying for the arrival of peace, their boundless expectations gathering, awaiting the day of departure.

From his high vantage point, Nimirda looked out toward the distant Holy Land, where his father was laid to rest. In the short span of time, everything had changed, and beneath the howling of the sea wind, he remembered his last encounter with his father.

"Nimirda, go, leave this place.

Bear the consequences for your mistakes, as shall I."

Mistakes...

People must bear their mistakes.

God gave language to humanity, His love lifted them above the beasts, no longer gnawing on raw flesh but learning to name all things, possessing their own free will, leaving their mark in history.

People with free will can ascend or fall. They beg for mercy from God, or they destroy the works of God with their own hands.

And facing their mistakes, even when humans cannot make amends, they can bear them or flee from them.

Nimirda turned around, and unbeknownst to him, a large group had gathered behind him—the Logos people looked up collectively at the Prince standing above. In their united hearts, they had already crowned him as king.

To bear or to flee...

Only God can truly say which path is right, and either path brings pain.

Nimirda surveyed the crowd. These Logos followed him just as they had once followed Dertulian.

The Priests led the way, kneeling on one knee, followed by rows of Logos people kneeling in turn, the uniform sound proclaiming their unswerving faith.

That faith was so immense...

Together, it seemed they could carve out a new Heaven and Earth.

Perhaps they were correct.

Perhaps the Nus Kingdom was no longer an idyllic sanctuary but another ancient kingdom on the brink of collapse.

Nimirda lowered his gaze to his hands that had personally slain the Whale King, and now, he would use them to build a new kingdom.

Was this a mistake, or a mission?

"I am Nimirda, your new King."

"My father has parted from us forever; his soul has gone to be with God. May God have mercy on his soul."

"We will leave this place to establish a new kingdom. We will pursue the great deeds of history. Just as our forefathers built the Nus Kingdom, so shall we forge our new world!"

Those solemn words fell.

The Logos people looked up in unison, crying out Nimirda’s name, praising God’s grace, with thousands of voices merging like a mighty torrent.

Amongst those cries, a faint lament intermingled.

Farewell, Nus!

The land beneath their feet, that beautiful place, an idyllic sanctuary, a land standing upon Holy Scripture, was their home and soon to become their homeland.

Perhaps one day, these departing Logos would return to this place, much like a group of Logos once suffered greatly to return to the long-missed Holy Land.

But now... It was time for them to leave.

............................

Nimirda and his followers set sail from the port, departing from there.

In the dark shadows, Merfolk Po Han stared intently at the departing Logos.

"It’s not over... it’s not over," Po Han muttered despondently.

He did not know what had gone wrong.

Nimirda, the murderer, had not died. Instead, his father King Oro had been assassinated.

The rift that tore the two races apart had inexplicably come to reconciliation.

The Merfolk Envoy suddenly felt a baffling sense of purposeless disorientation,

"God... righteous God, are you protecting the two races in this manner?"

Po Han could not understand the complexity, but he knew the assassination of King Oro could not be so simple.

There must be some hidden truth.

"An innocent died for the sake of a sinner! As if the sinner had killed the innocent himself."

Po Han struggled to convince himself.

The fleet slowly left the harbor, and Po Han took a deep breath. He had to follow them; he had to witness Nimirda receive the punishment he deserved.

This outcome did not satisfy everyone, it silenced them all, making them set aside the strife.

Among the Merfolk, unknowable numbers had not discarded their hatred because of King Oro’s death—they had simply chosen silence. Po Han, as the Merfolk Envoy and a devout follower of the Whale King, was among them.

Po Han took a deep breath. He went to a secluded corner unrecognized by the departing Elves, and saw a Merfolk leap into the water, following closely behind the vast fleet like a hunting shark.

On the deck, under the sunlight, Nimirda was so spirited as he personally sounded the horn to set sail, as if God had truly placed a mission on his shoulders, and Angels, in their mysterious ways, had guided his direction.

These Elves were saying farewell to the Nus Kingdom and to the Undersea Kingdom, well aware that they would no longer be seen as kin by the Undersea Kingdom. They were Exiles, and whatever they did would have nothing to do with the Nus Kingdom anymore.

Yet these Elves were still willing to accept such an outcome. All choices come with sacrifices, and this was their decision, their will.

Thousands moved along the already charted course towards the far side of the sea. Prayers echoed among the ships, with people bowing their heads and murmuring Scriptures, hoping to find strength in the words of the Subordinate God. Waves layered upon waves, pushing the vessels farther out to sea, with the prayers from the shore and the sea no longer mingling, gradually separating, and soon after, the flags of Nimirda’s fleet slowly disappeared from sight, never to be seen again.

...

Above the Cloud Sea.

Schiller watched his Trialist, taking in the division of the Elves with his own eyes.

Nimirda would go to establish a New Kingdom, and thus the Nus Kingdom was divided.

Maisy accompanied Schiller.

"They are so ambitious," Schiller said slowly.

Maisy, a bit puzzled, asked, "Can they... really succeed in establishing a New Kingdom, like Dertulian did?"

Schiller answered, "I don’t know and cannot know.

Back then, Dertulian left the old Kingdom through great toils and dangers, and now Nimirda departs, with the Elves regarding him as another Dertulian."

Maisy nodded. He, like Schiller, observed all that transpired after the death of the Whale King among the Elves.

"King Oro died for the friendship of both races, and before long, his soul will ascend to Heaven.

Schiller, under free will, people can choose to rise, rather than always fall."

Maisy spoke as if to summarize the previous discussion.

Schiller hissed with his forked tongue, making a sibilant sound,

"No, as long as they remain on earth, people will always fall.

It just happens that King Oro managed to die during ascension."

Maisy, confused, looked at Schiller, wanting to say something.

"What is it?" Schiller asked proactively.

"Schiller... you now, seem a bit unfamiliar to me," Maisy said cautiously.

Schiller was stunned for a moment but quickly regained composure, saying to himself, "I have never changed."

Then, the Great Angel quickly changed the subject,

"Look at those Elves leaving Nus. They already see the Nus Kingdom as a land about to collapse, and they will represent the new future of their race, forging ahead in an unknown world.

Just like the once Dertulian, God... seems to have bestowed upon them a mission, and Nimirda also proclaimed he received guidance from the Angels.

In their eyes, they are pursuing a better land, they will build a new Elysium, they are advancing on the Heavenly Road."

Maisy listened in silence to Schiller’s narrative. As the youngest among the Great Angels, his greatest skill was listening.

"However..."

Schiller’s tone shifted, hissing with his tongue, leaving a statement that made Maisy shiver,

"However... has God really bestowed a mission upon them?"

Maisy turned his head, eyes wide.

He suddenly had a bad premonition and couldn’t help but ask,

"Schiller, what have you done?!

What role have you played in all this?!"

In the resplendent Heaven, Schiller’s serpent scales emitted a chilling cold light.

His wings were slightly spread, casting his entire body in shadow.

Schiller slowly said, "Don’t be hasty, Maisy. Don’t be hasty.

Who can say for sure whether God has given a mission or not?

What if He really did bestow one?"

At this moment, Maisy, dripping with sweat, felt an immense pressure in the presence of Schiller, the most inherently pure Angel.

Schiller continued, "Maisy,

no matter what, no matter what happens,

what I want to say is... even if human hearts desire to rise, they will ultimately fall,

just as, the more they believe, the more they betray."
