Chapter 424 - 375: The Fall
Chapter 424: Chapter 375: The Fall
Enshrouded in purple-black fog, Slaier stood blocking the essential route out of the city beneath the city.
Mira reached out her hand and a round, black sphere rolled into her palm.
"Anos, wait here."
Mira said and in the blink of an eye, she charged out.
What greeted this group of travelers was a spear-like purple mist piercing through the air, accompanied by a whistling sound.
Mira leapt down from the carriage, activated the black sphere in her hand, and in an instant, black fog billowed out, obediently awaiting her command. It quickly enveloped the entire carriage, and the moment it collided with the incoming purple mist, it exploded on contact.
Anos hid inside the carriage compartment, feeling it shake incessantly, while the old believer Parker continued to pray. For him, it was truly hard to believe that the Gatekeeper would attack without cause.
"Oh great God, show us your revelation... We have not betrayed the Primordial Church, we have not betrayed the Primordial Church..."
The prayers of the old believer Parker were interspersed with numerous scriptures, but his prayers did not stop Slaier’s assault. Rather, the whole carriage shook even more violently.
Parker’s words of prayer might not have reached the ears of God, but they certainly fell upon Anos’s.
"Gatekeepers only hunt those... who betray the Primordial Church..."
Anos lowered her head and looked at her own right chest.
Could it be... me?
My Golden Heart... has it given the Gatekeeper a sense that I want to betray the Primordial Church?
Thinking this, Anos’s breath caught in her throat.
Mira did not belong to the Primordial Church, so there could be no talk of betrayal from her.
And the old believer Parker before her, he was at most deceived, and did not comprehend any betrayal.
In that case, it left only one person... herself.
Anos’s expression stiffened.
I... do I ultimately have to go back?
Outside the carriage.
Mira was manipulating the black fog, desperately fending off Slaier’s relentless attacks.
The Gatekeeper Slaier before her seemed not to be exerting full effort, standing motionless on the spot, merely relying on the purple-black fog from his body to assault her, which was already pressuring Mira into a gradual retreat.
Mira took a deep breath and started chanting in the Ancient Language.
"Rosa."
Time slowed down.
Mira managed to catch her breath and hurriedly recited the next Ancient Word.
"Fenrir."
This Ancient Word meant "storehouse," and as it escaped her lips, a Light Blade appeared in Mira’s hand.
The Light Blade originated from Mira’s whims in Heaven, this imaginative child, relying on the abundant resources of Heaven, created countless magical items.
With the Light Blade in hand, even the black fog controlled by Mira kept a respectful distance. Chanting the Ancient Word "Gale," Mira’s feet swept the wind, and in an instant, she rushed in front of Slaier, who had taken the form of a Gatekeeper, and slashed down from above.
The protective purple-black fog around Slaier scattered at the approach of the Light Blade, revealing Slaier’s flesh.
Darkness was yielding to light.
As the Light Blade sliced through the air, Slaier suddenly moved, stepping back and then raising a hand to press down in a reversing motion.
From those dry lips came a few words:
"This is a lie."
As his voice fell, Slaier’s figure returned to normal, his speed no longer constrained by the Ancient Words.
Just a moment ago, he had rendered Mira’s use of the Ancient Word "Rosa" temporarily ineffective.
While Mira’s Light Blade was still mid-air, Slaier raised his other hand, lifting it slightly.
"I will definitely be hit, this is a lie."
As another hoarse voice fell, the divine power of Deception took effect once again. The Light Blade should have struck Slaier, but at that moment, Slaier’s body rapidly fell backwards in retreat, and Mira swung at the void.
Mira’s eyes widened in shock.
Before she could react, Slaier clasped hands together, and a surge of purple-black mist swirled around, attacking once more.
"This strike misses, Deception!"
The divine power of lies and tricks took effect again. The purple-black mist charged with a bizarre and unpredictable stance. Mira immediately tried to use the black mist to block it, but no matter how she pursued and intercepted, she could not stop the oncoming purple-black mist.
The purple-black mist, like sharp spears, was about to pierce through Mira’s body in an instant.
"Nawuso."
These were the Ancient Words for "Deception."
In a moment of urgency, Mira suddenly thought of those Ancient Words. As a child who loved to lie, she was naturally adept at using the Ancient Word "Deception."
Following the utterance of the Ancient Language, the spear-like purple-black mist missed its target and then slowly retreated to Slaier’s side.
They were deceived, thinking they had already struck Mira.
Nearly hit, Mira was covered with cold sweat on her forehead.
Using the Ancient Words repeatedly in a short time drained her of much strength, and Mira gasped for breath heavily.
And before her stood Slaier, a Fourth Rank Divine, an insurmountable peak for this girl.
The god of lies and tricks, Slaier, took a step forward, seemingly unwilling to drag this out any longer.
"You shall be victorious, this is a lie."
As the emotionless voice fell, Mira suddenly felt an immense pressure descending upon her.
Then Slaier rushed forward, the purple-black mist coalescing in Their hands into a massive hammer.
The great hammer of purple-black mist smashed down towards Mira from above, and the girl hurriedly dodged, only to find her strength waning faster than before.
The divine power of lies and tricks was taking effect.
Facing an increasingly weak Mira, Slaier, gaining strength, forced the girl into a constant retreat.
In the end, just as Mira tried to step back, she found a precipice behind her.
Turning her head, a massive hammer strike came down, covering half the sky.
"Nawuso!"
In desperation, Mira hastily chanted the Ancient Words.
"This is a lie."
Slaier’s mouth stiffly spat out a few words.
The Ancient Words failed again.
The hammer came crashing down, and the immense force instantly swept over Mira’s whole body, an agonizing pain exploding within her petite frame. Before Mira could cry out in pain, the cliff beneath her crumbled, and she fell downward.
Falling into endless darkness.
Into it, where there was nothing but darkness.
Nothingness, the void of the void.
The Gatekeeper, Slaier, had cast down Mira, standing motionlessly at the edge of the cliff.
"Uh..."
After a long moment, the Gatekeeper’s expression became distorted, as if in agony.
They clutched Their head, kneeling on the ground, seemingly caught in a terrible struggle.
Their appearance was like a patient with a soul split, fighting over the same body.
Their wail seemed to shake heaven and earth.
More and more darkness surrounded, joining with the purple-black mist emanating from Their body, which became denser and heavier, and Slaier’s body was so bent that it could not bend any further.
After a while, They slowly rose from the ground, regaining the appearance befitting a Gatekeeper.
