Chapter 422: Chapter 373 Which One is Better?

"My will surpasses your will..."

Anos sat on a long bench.

These words, they seemed as though only a Prophet could utter them.

Inside the not so vast mansion, winds occasionally blew through the doors and windows. Anos was wrapped in a black robe which was tailored by the Imperial tailors especially for the Empress, adorned with a rider’s attire that was neatly and conveniently worn, warm in winter and cool in summer, with a slit on the back for a cape, and gold and silver tassels decorated on the collar, waist, and chest.

Even if this rider’s attire was not as conspicuous compared to the garments of noble ladies, there was no doubt that its exquisite craftsmanship clandestinely established Anos’s identity as an Imperial Princess of the Danschel Empire.

Before her younger half-brother was born, the vast territory of the Danschel Empire was supposed to be inherited by her.

Even after the birth of her brother, Anos had never given up her desire for the throne.

This was not only her will but also her father’s will and the will of the Delos Family.

Now, Prince Laslo was regarded as the future co-emperor, but the Delos Family would not allow him and the Danschel Family behind him to have their way.

Anos could foresee that, before Laslo’s sixteenth birthday ceremony, this brother would leave this world for some reason.

This was her father’s will, the Delos Family’s will, and Anos’s own will.

Struggling for the throne was never a joyous affair.

Conspiracies, open and covert fights, insincerity... Anos grew up amid these condemned actions.

She was always on guard, cunning and merciless when necessary, decisive and swift - anyone, even a benefactor, could be used for her aims when needed.

Ascending to the throne, inheriting everything from the Delos Family, taking over the entire Empire, becoming the helmsman of this great empire—that was her will.

Accepting her identity as a Primordial Messenger seemed, undoubtedly, an indispensable part of the whole process.

But now...

The girl before her was asking her to give up her own will.

Anos’s hand paused mid-air, Mira’s face was just inches away; the girl grasped her hand and would not let go.

"Your will... surpasses my will..."

Anos murmured this sentence.

Mira stared directly at the Princess, her gaze seeming not to allow Anos to utter a word of refusal.

Anos’s hand, trembling and shaking, her whole being became delirious, as if feverish, with the wind howling in her heart and something burning, she tried to calm herself, but her forehead was still very hot.

The Princess didn’t know what was happening to her.

All she knew was that Mira wanted to take her away, to leave this place, the tone... it seemed not just to leave the city below, but to leave the Danschel Empire, bidding farewell to everything she had experienced in her past life, and never to look back.

Whether it was her mother Flora, father Leon, or Stephanie, Elena, Mona... the Red Olive Poetry Society, Thousand Cities Academy, all these places where she had once devoted her emotions, she had to say goodbye.

This girl was crazy.

Under the dizziness, this was the only thought in the Empress’s mind.

This girl must be crazy to think she would agree to such a request!

Anos barely recovered, she looked at Mira, her thin lips trembled slightly as she forcefully uttered a single word.

"No."

She wanted to refuse all of this, she couldn’t just leave like that.

Mira stared at her and said,

"Anos, I’m not asking for your consent."

Anos stiffened.

She finally realized, Mira was not asking for her consent, she was commanding, issuing an edict!

This girl was truly mad, madder than before!

At that moment, a cruel truth surfaced and lay bare before the Princess.

Initially, when Mira had just arrived in the Danschel Empire, this girl, unfamiliar with her surroundings, depended on the briefly encountered Anos, always following the Princess.

At the time, Stephanie had thought Mira was the Princess’s attendant.

Throughout their time together, whatever Anos said, Mira would listen. To the Princess, Mira was just a simple, teachable child. The girl was well-behaved and sometimes, Anos felt a compliant sensation from Mira toward herself.

This feeling deceived the Princess, leading her to mistakenly believe that their relationship was like that of a mother wolf and its cub.

But in reality, beneath that girl’s innocent appearance, lay unimaginable capabilities.

Capabilities far greater than her own.

Now, Mira no longer concealed herself and bared her fangs, only at that moment did the mother wolf realize that it was not a clueless cub, but a North White Tiger that lived in the harsh polar regions, before whom she was wholly defenseless.

She finally saw who was the true prey.

Anos tried to calm herself down, her voice trembling as she said,

"Are you forcing me?"

Mira nodded seriously,

"Yes, I really like forcing others."

The Princess gasped, wanting to pull her hand back, but Mira’s grip was tight, sending a slight pain through it.

"Don’t, don’t do this... Mira."

Realizing the truth, Anos lowered her voice, pleading for the first time,

"I finally got to see my mother..."

Mira retorted,

"So what?

You can go meet my mother, she’s much more formidable than yours."

Anos was stunned, rendered speechless by Mira’s childish yet discordant words.

She was powerless to resist any of Mira’s decisions.

Eventually, the calculating, ambitious Princess relented, her words trembling,

"I am in agony, Mira, tormented with indecision.

...Then...have it your way, take me wherever you want, I will go..."

Mira finally let go of Anos’s hand, she eyed the Princess, whose face was covered in cold sweat, and smiled.

To the Princess, that smile seemed so cruel.

Yet she was out of options.

Mira cheerfully started pacing around the room, speaking as she walked,

"We need to leave quickly, we’ll set off tomorrow, no delays.

That prophecy Flora mentioned... it probably wasn’t just made up, we need to hurry, or else the prophecy will manifest.

And we can’t let them discover us, I hope all goes well..."

Anos, helplessly leaning on a long chair, watched Mira.

This girl was making all the arrangements, her thoughts meticulous and filled with innovative ideas, all plans appropriately made.

Anos pressed her forehead, smiling bitterly.

She was like a pretentious canary.

If she stayed in the Empire, she would be the canary for the Primordial Church and the Delos Family, and by following Mira, it seemed she had become her personal canary.

As to which was better, perhaps only God knew.
