Only God -
Chapter 340 - 297: The Sealed Primordial Will
Chapter 340: Chapter 297: The Sealed Primordial Will
Danschel was a typical Human Kingdom where people erected various divine statues and many divinities had offerings. However, the number of divinities was as numerous as the stars, so they only built temples for a few main divinities.
In this world, the best way to differentiate citizens from foreigners was to see which divinities were worshipped. Danschel being an agricultural kingdom, people primarily venerated the Thunder God, the Rain God, and the Agricultural God.
If a foreigner worshipped the same gods as the people of Danschel, that would be truly rare, while it was very common for foreigners to worship other gods.
Despite this, Catherine realized that the god mentioned by this foreign woman seemed to be different from the other divinities.
Moreover, this foreign woman had never prayed to other divinities, a rarity even among foreigners.
This foreign woman possessed a wondrous ability that deeply fascinated Catherine, and the god she spoke of equally stirred Catherine’s thoughts.
"Sola... who is your god? What is His name?"
Catherine asked softly.
Under Danschel’s polytheism, though priests often advocated loyalty to the divinities, for ordinary people, it was not a bad thing to believe in one more divinity.
"Catherine, your question is quite fanciful.
Of course I know His name, for at the beginning of creation, He declared that name to me."
Solamus laughed as she looked at Catherine,
"But I cannot tell you.
Only if you do not know His name can you realize that He is the One."
The words sounded cryptic, and Catherine somewhat understood but also felt as if Solamus was excluding her, yet not quite.
Solamus seemed to see through her heart.
Solamus spoke gently:
"I’m not a priest, I won’t point to a god and have you bow in worship.
What I will do, is to let you feel it slowly on your own, let you understand by yourself."
With that, Catherine’s desire to believe in one more divinity was thwarted, but she was not disconnected from the god the foreign woman spoke of, as Solamus’s words had inspired her. She tried to feel and understand slowly as Solamus had said.
In the blink of an eye, Solamus had lived in Danschel for a full three years.
Time passed swiftly, hardly noticeable.
Catherine, having parted ways with Tyrone, never found a new lover again, though the Music Academy wasn’t short of musicians interested in her, some of whom were women. Still, Catherine remained indifferent.
The music-focused Director slowly noticed a subtle divine feeling in Catherine’s piano playing.
The musicians, who were also priests, were charmed by this divine sensation in Catherine’s music, making the Director exclaim that it was truly a divine offering of music.
It appeared that this music aficionado was truly an unprecedented genius.
Today, with the gentle sunshine, Catherine sat in the courtyard holding a new harp; the original harp, whose strings had turned into nightingales, was kept inside her house.
Maids gathered around Catherine, sharing recent rumors with their mistress.
"Miss, I heard... there seems to be a group called the True Believers, and they’re coming to the Royal City."
One maid said.
"True Believers?"
Catherine questioned.
She was a music aficionado unconcerned with worldly affairs, rarely venturing beyond her visits to Solamus’s residence and scarcely stepping out of her house.
And Solamus had never claimed to be a True Believer, nor had he ever mentioned the "True Religion" in front of Catherine.
The maid explained to Catherine:
"I’ve heard that the True Believers are mostly Three-eyed Ape People and noble Elves, who worship a god on some high mountain, calling Him ’Lord’..."
The maid actually knew very little about the True Religion, and her account contained a mix of truth and falsehood, which Catherine was aware of, so she just listened.
"The god of the high mountains... sounds somewhat familiar, called ’Lord’..."
At this thought, Catherine paused,
"Could it be... that Solamus has some connection with them?"
...
...
The Country of Divines stood within the Celestial Kingdom, a gathering place for countless Divines, evidently the center of the entire world.
And more than a thousand years ago, the Country of Divines was not suspended in the air as it is today.
Many Divines clearly remembered that the Country of Divines originally stood upon the Historical Star, the most ancient and long-standing star, imbued with Seventh Rank Divine Power. For thousands of years, it had been the star of the highest rank in the Star Space.
However, what baffled the Divines was that this deep red Historical Star had never awakened its own consciousness.
Although the awakening of self-consciousness often had no connection with Divine Power, there were examples in the Celestial Kingdom of Second Rank Divines awakening earlier than Fifth Rank ones. Nevertheless, it was unprecedented for a star to show absolutely no signs of awakening.
Among the Divines, some were relieved that the Historical Star had never awakened; otherwise, with its Seventh Rank Divine Power, it could have overshadowed Shan En and become the new King of Gods.
In the Country of Divines, as more and more Divines panicked with the arrival of Heaven, they crowded outside the Golden Hall but could not find the figure on the throne.
The Divines could not help but ask...
Where has our King gone?!
In the vast expanse of starry sky, a brilliant lightning bolt streaked by, and Shan En descended onto that vast Historical Star’s wound.
A massive crater, damaged terrain, open fissures... and the anywhere visible ruins remained from that astonishing ancient battle, even after more than a thousand years.
Divine King Shan En held the Thunder Spear, this Divine Artifact flashing with infinite lightning, served both as His weapon and the scepter that ruled the entire Country of Divines.
He looked around and soon gazed in a direction.
It was where the Primordial Will was sealed.
More than a thousand years ago, this King of Gods, together with the Great Angels of Heaven, had crushed the representative War God Saiama of the Primordial Will.
Now, that War Star circled with endless storms of blood, as if crying out mournfully for its former master.
Divine King Shan En advanced step by step towards the site of the Primordial Will’s seal.
Shan En knew that His father, along with His kingdom, was soon to descend.
This was a future that had been destined thousands of years ago.
"Since I know... then, Primordial Will, do you know..."
Divine King Shan En walked forward, and soon, He appeared before the seal.
The Primordial Will, despite lacking any intelligence or wisdom, yet being once the master of the world, how could this profound being not sense the impending descent of Heaven?
However...
Throughout, the Primordial Will showed no reaction at all.
"What is this... why..."
Divine King Shan En touched the ground beneath His feet, lost in thought.
