Chapter 261: Chapter 224: Law Accomplished
In the Divine Kingdom of God, the number of angels is beyond counting. Like various-sized mirrors, they reflect the brilliance emanating from the throne, living in all corners of Heaven and enjoying endless bliss.
Yet among them, a Great Angel—despite being surrounded by other eternally joyful angels—had found himself overcome with sorrow in recent days.
Schiller, with a spear forged from condensed light in hand, gazed longingly into the distant realm of dreams, his brow perpetually furrowed.
"Great Angel Schiller, why do we always see you with a look of sorrow, unable to wander freely for long?"
A beautiful angel approached, flapping her wings,
"Could it be that God’s dream is not enough to satisfy you?"
"What are you saying?"
Schiller, upon hearing this, replied with a hint of blame:
"God’s dream has everything. Even the greediest of mortals, upon arriving here, would find their desires ultimately finite and satisfied.
Even if they exhausted their imagination, they couldn’t enjoy even one ten-thousandth of the splendor of this heavenly kingdom.
If such is the case for greedy mortals, how much more so for us angels?"
The angel nodded somewhat bewilderedly, then asked again:
"Then... Great Angel Schiller, why are you sorrowful?"
As the words reached his ears, Schiller sighed and said slowly:
"Do you know about the angel’s trials?"
The angel nodded, of course, she knew.
The trials of the angels were created under the leadership of the Angel Leader Solamus, along with other Great Angels, to test human will, intelligence, and courage, ultimately rewarding those who passed with their deserved blessings.
The Great Angels created the trials to please God, and Noen’s emergence, God’s delight, and establishing of covenants represented the most beautiful fruits of these trials.
And now, the trials of the angels have not ceased, and the Great Angels still fret over the trialists from time to time.
"But Great Angel... what do the angel’s trials have to do with your sorrow?"
The angel asked.
Schiller did not hold back and shared his worries,
"My trialist is Baird; he was once the most promising among our Great Angels.
I have consecutively set forth multiple trials for him, none of which he failed. He should have, after Noen, successfully passed the trials and received the grace of the angels.
But... when I launched the final trial of will, Baird just couldn’t get through.
His steps seemed to be caught in a quagmire, becoming sluggish and stiff, struggling to advance even a step after many years."
After voicing the sorrow in his heart, Schiller’s brows seemed somewhat relieved of their burden.
And the listening angel asked:
"Great Angel Schiller, why don’t you talk with the other Great Angels about it? Perhaps they might have some solutions."
Schiller gave a wry smile and said softly:
"At the time, many Great Angels envied me for my trialist, including Solamus. But now... with Baird unable to pass the trials, how can I bring myself to mention it?"
Beyond these factors, there was another reason for his complex mood: Noen, the trialist of Solamus, who was initially dismissed by everyone, had eventually become the first recipient of Angel Grace and God’s chosen one, complicating Schiller’s emotions.
Moreover, the level of grace that Solamus now enjoyed had reached the Fifth Rank, and the gap between Schiller and Solamus widened accordingly.
For a moment, Schiller did not know how to face everything that was happening before him.
.........
God’s throne was enveloped in infinite brilliance, pure white clouds swirling at the angels’ feet. Solamus came before the throne, kneeling on one knee and looking up at the supreme Divine seated upon it.
"God, I heard You summoning me," Solamus asked softly.
As the angel closest to God, Solamus looked into God’s eyes, gentle and serene.
"Solamus," Chen Yi called out to him, slowly descending from the throne,
"How much time has passed outside?"
Solamus lifted his face, contemplating for a moment before saying,
"God, as You know, three millennia have passed, three thousand two hundred and thirty-one years to be precise."
Generally speaking, angels seldom counted the passage of time. Whether a day or a year had passed, it made no difference to them.
In this grand dream, time had long lost its importance. In Heaven, beautiful things were born often, but seldom did they wither, rendering time meaningless to measure.
For instance, a farmer would plant in the spring and harvest in the autumn. As a tool to measure time, he would count each day precisely; the seasons were of great importance to him!
But once he left his normal environment, say, suddenly crowned and turned into the King indulging in the pleasures of the deep palace, never leaving his sleeping quarters, the seasons lost their intended significance, becoming a blurry and untraceable memory.
Therefore, in this dream of God,
many angels felt almost nothing as time passed, and the eternal God never cared about the duration of time.
But the Great Angel Solamus was different. As the Angel Leader and the founder of the angelic trials, Solamus cared greatly about the flow of time.
"God, why suddenly ask me about the time?" Solamus quietly inquired.
Chen Yi pointed towards the surging Cloud Sea below, smiling,
"My Law is almost fulfilled."
A flash of surprise crossed Solamus’s face, quickly followed by joy, his excitement rendering him nearly incoherent,
"God, indeed... indeed... I rejoice for You!"
As a Divine Angel, Solamus knew what that meant.
Once God’s Law was fulfilled, the Heaven and Hell He created, the Heavenly City and the underworld would no longer be mere prototypes, but supreme creations of His.
Everything that could have been shaped at will, was now firmly set in stone, and God’s plan, too, neared its final stage.
The Great Angel Solamus knew what that final stage was...
The Apocalyptic arrival.
The Heavenly City and the underworld would face a thorough Coming.
At that moment, God’s form would once again walk upon the earth, His supreme glory shining upon all things, and all living beings would face the judgment after death, determining their destiny.
All rational beings were regarded as part of humanity, and on the day of fulfillment, all would chant the name of God!
"God, do You need me to do something for You?
I want to do something for You! I hope, and I am willing,"
Kneeling on one knee before God, Solamus said with fervor.
Solamus loved God, for God had created them with the Holy Spirit, constantly granting them immense pardons and patience.
"God, Your brilliance has always shone upon us.
I believe I can surely do something for You, I can surely guide humanity towards a better direction, I can definitely bring You joy."
