Only God -
Chapter 171 - 148: The Star that Caught God’s Attention
Chapter 171: Chapter 148: The Star that Caught God’s Attention
God’s dream.
Eight Great Angels, with four of their Trialists already failing the trials for various reasons.
Of the remaining four Great Angels, besides Schiller and Solamus, the Trialists of the other two Angels hovered on the brink of failure.
It was precisely for this reason that the Trialists of Schiller and Solamus garnered even more attention amongst the Angels.
Schiller was still acceptable, after all, his Trialist was that Baird, a person capable of hunting Earth Dragons alone, reminiscent of Sapo or Dertulian in the Angels’ memories.
But what about Solamus? The Trialist of the Angel Leader, Noen, was an illiterate and feeble Stone Slave.
It was surprising enough for Noen to have passed a trial, but they heard from Solamus that the trial Noen passed was the notoriously difficult Heart Demon Trial!
The Great Angels were all astounded.
Could it be... this Stone Slave youth would truly become the first of Solamus’s Trialists to pass and receive the grace of an Angel?
Before the Divine Throne, Solamus knelt on one knee, sharing his joy with God.
"Seeing the astonished looks of the Great Angels brings me such pleasure, God."
God gazed at Solamus and softly said,
"I can see that, Solamus."
Solamus raised his face and, with a smirk, asked,
"God, what do you think... How far will Noen go?"
Originally, Solamus had no expectations for this youth; now, he could not help but fantasize about the Trialist’s future.
"I will not tell you.
For you do not wish to know."
Chen Yi on the Divine Throne said so.
Solamus opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but upon reflection, he realized it was indeed as God had said.
If God were to reveal Noen’s destiny, he surely would lose much anticipation and joy.
God lifted his eyes, gazing into the distance.
His look seemed to be fixated on something.
Solamus, the Angel closest to Him, asked aloud,
"God... are You looking towards the Celestial Kingdom?"
Chen Yi did not deny it.
"The Golden Age, such a grand vision of the Gods."
Solamus said softly.
In three thousand years, through communication with those who passed the trials, the Angels learned of the grand vision of the Gods – the Golden Age.
The Angels could foresee a glorious and magnificent era filled with soul-stirring heroic epics, when nations would wage endless strife upon the earth.
"God, they strive to erase Your existence, hoping to bury You in the river of history with a great Golden Age."
Solamus followed God’s gaze into the distance,
The Angel sighed,
"What they are doing, even they do not fully understand."
The stirring words of the Angel Leader reached Chen Yi’s ears.
God smiled, and spoke softly,
"What they wish to do, concerns Me not."
Solamus turned his face to look at Chen Yi on the Divine Throne.
God continued to say:
"Solamus, the reason I look towards that Celestial Kingdom.
Is because within that vast sea of stars,
Some stars truly stand out."
Solamus couldn’t help but show intense curiosity upon hearing this, his blond hair and wings swaying slightly.
"What exactly are the Stars that catch your attention?
Is it the thunderous, the prophetic, or those that forge divine weapons..."
"None of those."
Solamus couldn’t help but feel even more perplexed,
"God, then what exactly are the Stars?"
"There is a Star yet to awaken its self-awareness, waiting to be called forth; upon its awakening, people will call it the Love God."
Chen Yi softly narrated to Solamus beside the Divine Throne,
"And another Star, the god of lies and trickery.
Solamus, I must tell you,
His fate will become entwined with Noen’s."
Solamus was stunned for a moment, taking some time to comprehend.
That young Stone Slave from the earth would have his destiny entangled with the Gods of the Celestial Kingdom?
The Angel Leader found it unimaginable.
Soon after, Solamus looked up stiffly to Chen Yi,
And all he heard God say was,
"Perhaps,
you should test Noen’s wisdom."

Baird gripped the long tail of the Earth Dragon with both hands, desperately pulling at the fierce creature.
The Earth Dragon’s furious roar shook the desert land, everyone swayed, and it seemed as if the ground itself might split open.
Noen and Casas, swords in hand, charged forward with the rabbit people, their gleaming blades hacking at the tough Dragon Skin of the Earth Dragon, causing it to clench its teeth in pain.
The life force of the Earth Dragon was incredibly resilient. In this dire moment, it burst forth with astonishing strength; its claws pressed down and swept fiercely. Not even Baird could hold on to it.
The massive dragon head crashed into the Wind Erosion Stone, and the top-heavy pillar snapped. Noen looked up and saw the Wind Erosion Stone, that covered half the sky, collapsing to the ground!
"Run!"
Baird shouted, yet he himself charged towards the Earth Dragon.
The crowd scattered in panic, quickly moving away from the Earth Dragon, only to see the boulders crash down, and countless pebbles struck the Earth Dragon amidst its whining roars, dust billowing everywhere.
Baird stood firm against the falling debris, his hands once again grasping the Earth Dragon’s massive tail, and he yanked it backward with all his might. Under that immense force, the severely injured Earth Dragon was dragged across the pile of rocks.
"ROAR!"
The Earth Dragon let out its final cry; the strength it once prided itself on was nothing in front of this man clad in Dragon Skin!
Baird dragged the Earth Dragon out to prevent it from being crushed underneath the stones, making it difficult to retrieve. Now, he stood on the Earth Dragon’s back, stepping between its neck and then encircling his hands around the Earth Dragon’s thick neck.
The Earth Dragon flapped its limbs, struggling in desperation, but it was already gravely wounded, and Baird was immensely strong. His hands, pulsing with veins, tightened ever more.
Gradually, gradually, the Earth Dragon’s limb flailing slowed, its strength waned, and at last, it lay motionless on the ground, life extinguished.
The crowd watched Baird in utter astonishment; they had imagined him as a valiant hero, but they had never anticipated that Baird could actually strangle an Earth Dragon with his bare hands.
Baird, gasping for breath, climbed off the Earth Dragon, turned around, faced the crowd with a hearty smile, and then proceeded to open the Earth Dragon’s mouth, pulling its thick, long tongue out.
Upon seeing this, the rabbit Clan Leader rushed forward, elation evident in his demeanor, disbelieving as he looked at Baird.
"I never thought... that it could be done so easily... this easily."
The rabbit Clan Leader looked up at the tall Baird and murmured,
"I thought many of us would die."
"Cut this tongue out and bring it to your Clan Leader."
Baird said, looking at Noen and Casas who had drawn close,
"Today, we must set off and cross the Path of Death."
