Chapter 140: Chapter 121 The Beginning of the Golden Age
To the Gods of the Celestial Kingdom, three thousand years passed in the blink of an eye.
In those three thousand years, countless stars awoke to self-consciousness and joined the ranks of the Gods; some created races, some exercised Divine Power, and some silently observed.
With so many deities, Divine King Shan’en led them with such authority that unless necessary, Shan’en would no longer speak of the Father of Gods or those rebellious Logos people.
Under the baptism of time, that has become a lost Chapter of history.
For various reasons, the Gods are exceedingly secretive about this.
Now, under the leadership of Divine King Shan’en, the Gods decided to build a common Divine Kingdom above the surface of the Historical Star.
No divine being knew how Divine King Shan’en obtained the permission of the Historical Star. Some speculated that perhaps the Historical Star lacked self-consciousness or sufficient wisdom, as it always followed a fixed orbit and rarely deviated from its original path, and no divine being had ever been able to communicate or converse with the Historical Star.
On the surface of the Historical Star, the Gods constructed the embryonic form of the Divine Kingdom.
Led by Divine King Shan’en, the Gods quarried giant stones from a pure white rocky star without self-consciousness and transported them to the Historical Star. As the first tall and pristine white column, finely carved and erected upon the earth, nearly every deity could foresee the future grandeur of the Country of Divines.
The Forest God brought a breath of spring from his own star, scattering it over the Historical Star. Instantly, greenery spread across the land, and the plants’ roots burrowed into the soil, growing robustly.
Upon this foundation laid by the Forest God, the Flower God added all kinds of strange and beautiful flowers, adorning the verdant earth.
The Fire God smelted various splendid metals for the Divine Kingdom, decorating the magnificent white halls, while the Water God Angel carved out a crystal-clear and beautiful lake, where she enclosed the precious fish of the land. Standing to the west of the lake was the vineyard and apiary of the Wine God, where the most palatable and intoxicating grape wine and mead would be produced.
The God of Seasons brought spring, summer, fall, and winter to the Divine Kingdom, giving it landscape features similar to, yet far surpassing, those of the Mortal World.
During the construction of the Country of Divines, Divine beings in the Celestial Kingdom gradually awoke. Among them, the significant figure was Hiris, the God of Mountains and Craftsmanship. With his exquisite skills, he wielded the massive Divine Hammer to forge one Divine Statue after another for the great temples as requested by the Gods. Each deity poured their Divine Power into their own statue, using it as their representation in the Mortal World and revealing it to their believers.
This Country of Divines, with the concerted efforts of the deities, emerged little by little on the surface of the Historical Star. The Gods praised their own creation, boasting to each other, their glory emanating through every corner of the Celestial Kingdom.
At its completion, Divine King Shan’en set up a Barrier and led the Gods in an oath, declaring that no mortal shall enter the Country of Divines to prevent the ignorant from affronting the Gods’ authority and status.
Each God in the Country of Divines has their own temple, resplendent beyond mortal imagination. The arrangement and size of the temples followed the hierarchy of the Gods, with Divine King Shan’en’s temple naturally located at the very center. Upon entering, one could feel the vague presence of thunder and the occasional faint rumblings.
One day, Shan’en summoned the Gods of the Celestial Kingdom to the infinitely splendid Golden Hall.
Divine King Shan’en sat on the main seat of the temple, with the other Gods spaced out around him.
"Great Divine King, for what reason have you summoned us?" asked Prophetic God Kagawus, who was one of the earliest followers of Shan’en and sat closest to him.
Shan’en looked around, pondered for a moment, and then spoke:
"Gods, our Divine Kingdom has been established. It is time to proclaim our authority to the mortals of the earth."
The Gods listened to Shan’en’s words. Some nodded slightly, some looked puzzled, some were indifferent, and some were impassioned. In short, their expressions varied greatly.
"Wise Divine King, what authority shall we proclaim, and what exactly do you wish to do?" asked Water God Angel.
As her words fell, the gazes of the Gods all gathered toward Divine King Shan’en.
"Divine King Shan’en, with the completion of the Divine Kingdom, many deities naturally feel boundless pride and self-satisfaction, quite a few are eager to descend prophecies, manifesting the Gods’ great deeds.
Divine King, the authority you wish to proclaim; do you mean for each deity to declare the existence of the Country of Divines to the mortals of the earth?"
Fire God Mars inquired of Divine King Shan En.
Atop the lofty throne, Divine King Shan En shook his head.
The Gods immediately erupted in clamor, if not to proclaim the Country of Divines, then what exactly did Divine King Shan En intend to announce about the Gods’ authority?
Through a noble and magnificent Temple? A vast and incomparable sacrifice? An unprecedented war? Or would each of the Gods reveal their miracles in the Mortal World?
The gathered Gods debated amongst themselves, excited by the words of Divine King Shan En, even those originally indifferent joined the discourse.
After an indeterminable amount of time, when the assembly of Gods had quieted slightly, Divine King Shan En surveyed them all and began to speak slowly,
"Gods, we have built this great Divine Kingdom, a glory none of us dare claim alone, a glory which makes each and every Divine proud."
"But, Gods, our radiance in the Celestial Kingdom is blinding to the mortals below, who cannot look directly upon it, nor set foot in this Country of Divines.
I have contemplated letting the Gods reveal to the mortals through their own oracles, to let them feel our glory, to honor their faith. However, Gods, most mortals have but limited vision, unable to see the Gods’ great deeds; their hearing is often too weak to heed the Gods’ will; their thoughts are twisted and complex, with countless twisting the sacred oracles for their own gain!"
The Gods listened to Divine King Shan En’s solemn and reverent speech.
The Gods looked up to Shan En, the King of Gods, with deep reverence. Divine King Shan En had, after thousands of years, drawn vast wisdom from the rises and falls of the earthly beings.
"Gods, our great deeds may be overlooked by mortals, they may not obey our will, our oracles may be misinterpreted. Deeds, will, oracles... they will all be forgotten by mortals one day, unable to withstand time and inevitably fade away.
Yet, in this world, there is one thing that shall not be forgotten, that shall not fade, but instead shall flourish through time!"
Sitting upon the throne in the Country of Divines, Shan En announced loudly,
"Myth, our myth!
Just as the people of Logos will not forget our Father’s myth, once we create our own myths on Earth, the mortals shall never forget,
and our names shall be recited for thousands, even tens of thousands of years!
In this world, only the myth has the power to penetrate the soul and shake the spirit!"
The hearts of the Gods of the Country of Divines stirred with fervor, a fanatical gleam flashing in their eyes.
A magnificent, grand era gradually unveiled itself before them with Divine King Shan En’s declaration.
"Starting today,
we forge a Golden Age!
We forge an era belonging to myth!"
The coming age would birth countless heroic tales,
from the thirteen monumental feats of Adrian in the distant north, to the golden journeys of the Druids in the central lands, the wars among the kingdoms of the southern reaches, and ultimately, the grand rise of the Danschel Empire!
Mortals would sing on Earth, Gods would perform sacred acts in the Divine Kingdom, in this age, some will triumph, others will fall; some will be scorned by the Gods, while some will unite with the Divine...
Legends, epics, myths... an endless stream. Countless stories, grand enough to be passed down for a millennium, will follow the footsteps of the Gods, sweeping across this vast land like an unceasing storm, enveloping every living being of both heaven and earth.
This completion of the Country of Divines,
signifies,
the dawn of a Golden Age.
