Chapter 93: Rosinante
Chapter 93: Rosinante
Grand Line, First Half.
A remote, uninhabited island.
The scenery here was beautiful, serene, and full of natural charm. But the log pose moved incredibly slowly.
In the blink of an eye, the Roger Pirates had been staying there for over a month.
One day, a News Coo soared overhead.
In the heart of the island, the crew had gathered around a firepit, feasting on roasted meat and laughing loudly. Their voices echoed through the trees, full of energy despite the stillness around them.
Roger flashed a wide grin and set down the meat in his hands. A faint red gleam flickered in his eyes as he unleashed a wave of Conqueror’s Haki into the sky and knocked the bird out of the air.
"Hehe," he chuckled, clearly pleased with himself.
Rayleigh sighed, rubbing his forehead. He then disappeared in a blur and leapt out from the thick jungle.
A moment later, he reappeared midair, took out 100 Berries and stuffed it into the unconscious bird’s pocket. Then he placed it gently on the branch of a tree.
Grabbing a newspaper, he landed beside the fire and said helplessly, "Don’t go unleashing your Conqueror’s Haki like that, Roger."
Roger waved a hand dismissively. "Yeah, yeah. Won’t happen again."
As he spoke, he snatched the newspaper and began flipping through it with interest.
Rustle—rustle—
Suddenly, his eyes lit up. "Hey! Rayleigh! Look at this! Wahahaha! This is amazing, a samurai! We’ve got to find him. He needs to be part of our crew."
Rayleigh raised an eyebrow and took the paper from him.
On the front page was a swordsman wielding two blades. Behind him lay a group of fallen pirates. His clothes were different from anything worn at sea. They looked ancient.
The headline read:
"Wandering Swordsman! A Samurai from the Legendary Country of Gold!"
Rayleigh murmured, "The Country of Gold... Wano, huh?"
Roger let out a booming laugh. "Right? Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Let’s go find him! I want him on the crew! Wahahaha—cough, cough..."
Rayleigh frowned. "You can’t keep ignoring that cough. We set sail tomorrow and head straight for Drum Island. You need a checkup."
Roger rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish grin. "Yeah, yeah..."

Marine Headquarters, Marineford.
Today was a rare day off.
Enel made his way to Admiral Sengoku’s home and pushed the door open to enter.
In the courtyard, the admiral was smiling brightly as he played with Rosinante. If anyone else saw this, they would’ve been stunned. The usually serious and stern Admiral Sengoku... actually showing a soft, fatherly smile?
It was like watching a little girl spill ice cream on Sakazuki, only for him to gently pat her head and handing her 100 Berries, saying, "Go buy the five-scoop one."
Just absurd...
But Enel didn’t find it strange at all. He called out, "Admiral Sengoku! Rosinante!"
Sengoku looked up with a beaming face. "Here to play with Rosinante again, Enel?"
The boy grinned. "Yeah."
The admiral checked the time and said, "Then keep him company for a bit. I’ve got some work to finish."
Enel gave him a confident thumbs-up.
With one last glance at Rosinante, Sengoku headed inside. If he finished quickly, he could take the boy out for new clothes tonight.
Rosinante ran over eagerly. But there wasn’t a single sound. Even as he spoke no words came out.
Enel blinked. "Rosinante?"
Rosinante nodded and opened his mouth. Then, as if remembering something, he waved his hands and a translucent bubble formed around the two of them.
Enel narrowed his eyes. "A Devil Fruit?"
Rosinante’s voice finally came through. "Yeah."
Then he sounded a bit down. "But it’s kind of useless. It only blocks sound."
Enel raised his eyebrows. ’Blocks sound, huh?’
That means he can’t even shout out moves anymore. It was just too cruel...
He patted Rosinante’s shoulder and tried to comfort him. "It’s alright. Devil Fruit powers are just support. Your body is what really matters."
The boy nodded blankly. "Mhm!"
Enel smiled. "C’mon. I’ll show you a new move I just mastered."
Rosinante looked at him with admiration. "Okay!"
A transparent dome surrounded the two of them as they walked toward the mountain behind headquarters.
On the way, Enel demonstrated his new move.
"Watch this."
As he spoke, lightning flickered all over his body and sharp electric sparks gathered in both hands, releasing a piercing sound like a thousand birds chirping. It pulsed and shifted, becoming a long spear, then a short blade, flickering between forms.
Rosinante stared in awe, eyes sparkling.
Then, Enel stopped walking. His face changed as he looked around at the crowd nearby. It was like something just clicked in his head. He turned to Rosinante, staring at him like he had just discovered a rare treasure.
He deactivated his power and lifted the boy high into the air.
"Yahahaha! Rosinante! Your Devil Fruit ability is incredible! Yahahaha!"
Rosinante, dangling in the air, was utterly confused. "Huh?!"
"This dome blocks out all sound! All sound!" Enel said excitedly. "If we combine your ability with mine... we’d be unbeatable! Yahahaha! Let’s go test it out!"
Before Rosinante could say anything, Enel grabbed him and dashed toward the Marine academy.

At the Marine Headquarters Academy, under a large tree.
Borsalino lay sprawled out on the grass, one arm behind his head. Sunlight filtered through the branches, warming his face as he yawned and stretched.
"Ahhh~ what a life~" he muttered, half-lidded eyes gazing at the sky.
Soon, he drifted off to sleep.
That was the scene the two boys stumbled upon when they arrived.
Enel grinned and gestured for Rosinante to activate his power. Then both of them slowly approached Borsalino. Even when they stood right in front of him, he didn’t move.
Electricity flickered around Enel’s right wrist and the golden accessory he wore started shifting, condensing into a long spike over a meter in length.
He carefully aimed it near Borsalino’s temple, then gave Rosinante a handl signal. The boy nodded and deactivated his ability.
Instantly, Borsalino’s eyes snapped open. An intense sense of danger flooded his senses.
With no time to think, his body reacted on instinct, turning into beams of light as he vanished from the spot, reappearing over a hundred meters away.
Enel furrowed his brow. ’That speed... You’ve really been holding back when using Sacred Yata Mirror in battles...’
Borsalino noticed the golden spike in his hand and let out a long sigh.
"Hey Enel~ that was way too scary~ You can’t just go around pointing something that dangerous at people~"
Seeing how unbothered he was, Enel’s eye’s twitched.
He should’ve stabbed when he had the chance.
The lightning in his hand vanished, and the golden spike turned back into a bracelet on his wrist.
"Don’t take it personally. Just running an experiment. Anyway, thanks, Borsalino. Yahahahaha!"
He grabbed the excited Rosinante and ran off again.
Borsalino remained where he was, staring at the sky, defeated. "Ah~ there goes my lovely nap. But still... how did I not sense anything?"
Having missed the moment Rosinante released his ability, he could only stand there and ponder on his own.
