Chapter 77: Greenslade Is Safe
Following this, he sent the four unconscious women to the treehouse in the Otherworld to test. Leo stepped through it once they vanished and made his way to his bedroom while muttering, ’’I’ll go look for monsters in the morning.’’
He soon fell asleep while climbing under the covers before curling up. While resting, the town was in chaos as a monster swarm approached the city and would be there in the next couple of days.
The next morning, he woke up to cold air seeping into his room, which caused him to put on some winter clothes after climbing out of bed and pulling out some Griffin’s Talon Ale before drinking.
’So strong but delicious,’ he shivered when tasting the ale.
Following that, Leo left the Otherworld and appeared in the bedroom before making his way outside, only to notice that everyone was still asleep apart from two soldiers guarding the carriages.
When they spotted him, they saluted as he questioned, ’’Why is everything so quiet?’’
The older of the two answered in a respectful tone, ’’Hero, there’s a swarm heading in Greenslade’s direction from the south and the mayor asked us to defend the walls alongside the town guards.’’
’Interesting. Maybe I can level up even more by destroying the horde,’ Leo mused before speaking. ’’Okay, thanks for that, but I’ll go kill them now. Tell General Amara where I’ve gone.’’
When those words left his lips, Leo took off and started traveling south while readying his magic just as a swarm of flying monsters was heading for the town. He started hovering in the air before casting dozens of Thunderbolts into the horde.
Explosions detonated and took out hundreds of monsters that resembled vicious-looking eagles. Leo continued slinging Thunderbolts and Fireballs into the incoming horde, which thinned them out as they got close.
Following that, he started using California Smash, which sent shockwaves into the monsters. The force knocked them out of the air. That’s when Leo noticed the horde of creatures that looked like a living tidal wave crossing over the landscape.
’Looks like I’ll have to use a lot of mana to stop them, but I’ll gain so many levels,’ he thought while spamming Fireballs into the horde.
Blue flames washed over the monsters and burned them to ash, which excited him. Leo continued attacking the horde for a few hours until giants appeared at the rear, which concerned him.
Leo stopped attacking the smaller creatures before targeting the incoming giants with Thunderbolts. The blue electricity sliced through the air and slammed into their bodies, causing the monsters to stumble back.
Afterward, he rushed forward and hit the closet giant with Supernova Punch, which caused a loud boom to echo out. The monster was sent flying backward and killing thousands of smaller creatures.
Blood splattered everywhere, which excited Leo, who continued punching the monsters, which caused booms to ring out across the landscape. The sudden attack overwhelmed the monster swarm.
He watched as the creatures scattered in a frenzy as fireballs and thunderbolts rained down from above; the onslaught tearing through their ranks. A chaotic storm of flames and lightning left many of them dead, while the survivors fled.
Leo stood with an amused expression playing across his face as he watched their panicked retreat. Following that, he returned to the town while scanning his surroundings, only to think, ’That was easy. I wonder when the Demons will show themselves.’
Once the horde was stopped, Leo returned to Greenslade, where they were preparing for a fight as scouts rushed into the gate. Seconds later, cheers erupted all across the town as the soldiers watched him with adoration.
He landed with a thud just outside the inn, only to be greeted by Amara and Octavia. The purple-haired woman. Leo gave the two women with a charming smile, ’’Morning ladies, what brings you out here?’’
Amara’s yellow eyes narrowed as she responded, ’’Did you go fight that horde?’’
’’Yes, and they’re destroyed now, Greenslade is safe,’’ he answered.
When they heard this, their eyes widened in shock as Octavia commented, ’’Why would you risk yourself like that?’’
Leo shrugged with confidence. ’’Because I’m the strongest summoned hero and a horde of monsters wasn’t a problem for me,’’ he replied in a confident tone.
Following this, Amara giggled as she spoke. ’’The soldiers will go patrol the surrounding area and put down any creatures they find.’’
’’Sounds good, I will go out again soon but want to relax for a little while,’’ Leo responded before going to find a bench.
Once leaving the two women, he walked around Greenslade while the people looked at him while gossiping. Leo pulled out a Fire-Grilled Wyvern Drumstick and started eating while finding a bench that gave him a beautiful view of the nearby mountain.
’This place seems peaceful,’ he thought while relaxing on the bench while chewing on the Wyvern meat.
The dish was coated in spices that set Leo’s mouth ablaze with every bite, but that didn’t stop him. He continued stuffing his face with the flavorful food, savoring the heat even as sweat beaded on his forehead.
It wasn’t until his stomach protested with an ache that he finally slowed down, leaning back with a groan of greed. Leo watched the bright sky, but soon dark clouds darkened the land below.
’Seems like a storm’s going to hit,’ he thought while watching the sky.
Leo ate more food and downed some ale before walking back to the inn, as he started getting tipsy thanks to the drink. When he got back to his room, he collapsed onto the bed as the rainstorm started.
As thunder boomed overhead, it lashed against the windows while he watched the darkness engulf the town. Leo ignored this before relaxing as he drank more ale as the town guards went about locking up Greenslade.
Hours passed by and he fell asleep thanks to using the mana in the fight with the monster horde. By the time Leo woke up and felt better, the wall cannons were firing at a new creature swarm that was charging at the town.
