Chapter 58 - 58: Countered

"Watch out!" At the critical moment, Asher Land, who had rushed over from behind, quickly grabbed her hand and pushed her into a safe area.

The piercing sound of brakes cut through the silent night sky, and Sophie Smith's entire body stiffened. Just a little more, just a little more and she would have been crushed under the wheels.

The driver stopped, rolled down the car window, and looked disdainfully.

"If you want to die, go ahead, don't drag others down with you!" The driver cursed Sophie Smith viciously and swiftly started the car and left.

Sophie Smith breathed a long sigh of relief from deep within; if it weren't for Asher Land pushing her...

She turned to look back, and Asher Land was standing behind her, expressionless.

His current expression was very cold, so cold that it made her shiver.

"Your hand..." Sophie Smith gasped, suddenly realizing that his hand had a ten-centimeter long cut due to friction with the car's side mirror, bleeding profusely.

"Thinking of dying?" He raised an eyebrow and retorted.

She hadn't meant to; she was just momentarily confused. She wasn't so fragile to end her life just because she encountered difficulties.

"You're injured, let's go to the hospital to get the wound bandaged." She walked to his side, just about to approach, when Asher Land sneered and cornered her against the wall.

"Don't use dying to threaten me; it won't work."

Her lips curled into a bitter smile, she hadn't used dying to threaten him, but if he insisted on thinking that way, she couldn't help it.

"Fine, I won't do this again in the future."

Upon hearing her answer, Asher Land finally released her from the pressure, ignoring her as he walked ahead, Sophia Smith sensibly followed.

Arriving at the parking lot of the Golden Era Building, Asher Land just wanted to get into the car but was stopped by Sophie Smith.

"If you don't get your wound bandaged, you'll bleed out."

He huffed coldly, already impatient, "Relax, I won't die."

Sophie Smith still wanted to say something, but Asher Land got into the car first.

Did he really think he was invincible? The blood was still flowing, and he planned to drive for three hours back to Eastern City like this?

Sophie Smith stayed outside the car, Asher Land impatiently honked the horn.

"Are you coming back or not?"

Sophie Smith said nothing, she simply opened the car door on the driver's side, unfastened his seatbelt, turned off the car, and took the keys. She seamlessly completed these actions, leaving Asher Land confused.

"Please get out of the car." She said calmly.

"What exactly are you trying to do?" Asher Land frowned in displeasure.

"Unless you let me drive you to the hospital, otherwise, we won't return to Eastern City today." For once in front of him, she was particularly steadfast.

A smile involuntarily crept onto his lips, inexplicably, he really got out of the car and seated himself in the passenger seat.

Sophie Smith steadied herself, deciding to head to the nearby hospital.

Due to work, she had learned to drive. However, she had gotten her license not long ago, and her driving skills were still somewhat unrefined. Watching her concentrate on driving, Asher Land's mood suddenly improved, and those unpleasant feelings vanished.

"I just like you like this now." Asher Land said contentedly.

"How could that be?" Sophie Smith's lips curled into a self-mocking smile, "I'm just waiting for you to tire of me."

"You..."

Damn it, this woman has turned the tables on him again, this little wildcat's claws are getting sharper.

"I'm currently a patient; don't annoy me anymore."

"Okay."

Sophie Smith deliberately elongated her tone; now, he realizes he's a patient?
