Chapter 55: Proud of yourself
Chapter 55: Proud of yourself
Coco smiled fondly at the fairy’s enthusiasm and could only shake her head, "Of course, whatever makes Lala happy."
The fairy smiled and giggled, "Whatever makes Coco will always make me happy!"
"Really?" Coco asked, humming out the question as she finished picking the last bit of the dragon fruit, then, she picked up the bag and walked towards the next tree— a small tree which is full of ripe, round, and juicy dark colored berries, grapes.
Well.. Grapes are woody perennial vines so it’s not really a tree, but that’s how I see it right now. Coco thought, correcting her description of the violet berries in front of her.
"Really!" The garden fairy said, tapping her small hands against Coco’s forehead as she lay on her stomach above her human friend’s head, her legs swaying behind her as she giggled, "If you want me to grow vines all around the village then I would not hesitate to do so."
"Haha.." Coco laughed nervously and continued picking the fruit from the vines, carefully plucking them off and putting them inside the bag, "That’s really nice of you, Lala, but I’m sure I won’t ask you to grow vines any time soon."
Coco felt Lala shift, as if she was shrugging her shoulders, and tapped her forehead again before saying, "It was just a scenario, Coco."
From the way you said it, Lala.. No, I honestly don’t think so. Coco thought to herself, her hand continuing her work until she plucked the last grape from the vine.
"I’m done." She announced, crouching down by the bag, taking off her robe and placing the grapes on her removed piece of clothing, "You can remove the trees now, Lala, I just have to wrap these dragon fruit then we can go."
"Okaaaay~" Lala sang out, standing up and flapping her wings before flying over to the kiwi tree to eradicate it.
Ever since Coco and Lala ventured out to the first to sell the first batch of fruit that Coco grew for her first main quest, the garden fairy has been removing all traces of the plants that Lala grew just in case someone stumbles on their spot.
Although they might be removing the fruit trees for a couple of weeks, they could still bump into a threat, especially since Coco started to plant vegetables, she is almost a hundred percent sure that someone or something will stumble on her vegetable patches sooner or later.
That’s a problem she would handle in the near future because for now, she needs to focus on the task at hand.
She’s not clearly sure if this world has dragon fruits so all she could do is wrap the twenty pieces of dragon fruits inside the tattered green robe of hers to the best she can and put back the grapes inside the bag.
Then, she placed the secured and covered dragon fruits on top of the grapes.
Perfect. Coco thought, eyeing her little handy work with pride swelling inside her chest as she picked up the bag, slipping her arm through the bag’s handle and slinging it on her shoulder.
She finished making sure the bag wouldn’t fall just in time to hear the garden fairy call out to her.
"I’m done, Coco!" Lala exclaimed, her voice dripping with glee, making Coco glance at her way and see the large smile on the fairy’s face, "I also covered your patches with bushes so nothing will get to it while we’re gone!"
"Would the vegetables be okay if they got converted with another plant? Would they get enough sunlight?" Coco asked, waiting for the fairy to reach her and settle on her head.
"Yep!" Lala chirped, flying around Coco’s head before she stepped on Coco’s hair and plop herself down, "They are all healthy and well taken care of~ the carrots can be harvested soon! They were quite large and ready to be picked!"
"We’ll come back tomorrow morning and check if we can harvest it." Coco stated, walking towards the dead flying pig by the path down the mountain.
With a grunt released out of habit, Coco bent down, gripped the unconscious flying pig by the scruff of its neck and grasped the pig firmly, lifting it off the ground like it was nothing.
Coco’s muscles flexed as she shouldered the weight of the animal, its limbs dangling lifelessly, and she hoisted it up over her shoulder with ease.
"Ooh! So strong and powerful!" Lala squealed, praising Coco’s display of strength with a bubbly giggle.
"I’m not." Coco said, rolling her eyes as she adjusted her grip, holding the pig firmly against her shoulder with its body draped across her back like a heavy backpack.
Despite its limp form, the woman carried the flying pig as effortlessly as a sack of potatoes in a fireman’s carry, her strong shoulders and back not even straining under the weight of the raw pork.
"You are strong!" Lala insisted, grabbing Coco’s bangs as she peeked her head over to Coco’s face which made Coco look at the garden fairy with cross eyes.
Coco couldn’t look at the fairy that long because being cross eyed hurts her eyes. She shook her head and blinked, "Stop saying that I’m strong, Lala, it’s slightly embarrassing."
Coco glanced over the unfinished house over her shoulder before she turned away and started her adventure down the mountain to go to Yogusho Village, her footsteps quick and light as she listened to Lala respond to her.
"Embarrassing? You should be proud of yourself because you’re working to feed people you don’t know!" The fairy exclaimed, tapping her small hands on Coco’s forehead, "That alone is a feat worth applauding for!"
Worth applauding for, huh..? Coco mused to herself, a small smile on her face.
"You would do anything to bring back something to the village so you can earn money! Look at what you’re carrying right now!"
Lala sounds like she’s scolding Coco by the tone of her voice.
