Chapter 26: Accusation

"What are you doing here?" The fourth husband, Quizen, narrowed his eyes towards Coco.

The man standing outside the door was stunningly beautiful which rendered Coco speechless. How did she not notice this beauty before? She could only look at him with wide eyes, checking him from head to toe.

His hair was a rich shade of blue, cascading down to his shoulders like a waterfall of sapphires, the color so bright it seemed like it was glowing, standing out in a soft contrast against his smooth, pale skin, almost flawless in its perfection.

His eyes were an even deeper shade of blue, a deep and stormy blue that seemed to draw Coco in.

His lips were full and soft, curled downwards into a frown, his sharp yet angelic features were enhanced by strong arched eyebrows and high cheekbones.

He stood tall and slender, wearing simple clothes that were of poor quality, made of a rough and lightweight material that hung from his frame. His appearance alone is both delicate and strong, a living contradiction that was impossible to look away from.

Quizen Hughes is almost as stunning as Zaque and Alhai, his beauty making her speechless and unable to answer his question.

Again, why did Coco not observe this beautiful person before? She didn’t inspect his godly appearance all because of what? Of her shock to find that the woman she wanted to befriend was a man? Not only was she a man, he turned out to be her husband, too?

Don’t stare at him. That’s rude. Don’t stare, Coco.. She told herself, reprimanding herself in the back of her mind for almost repeating the same mistake she did earlier when she saw the third husband.

"Answer me." Quizen said, snapping Coco out of her thoughts and making her shoot him a quick glance before she turned away again.

"I’m going to sleep here tonight." Was what Coco said, her voice strained and forced.

Quizen raised an eyebrow at her and looked past her shoulders to check the interior of the room, "Are you asking for someone to warm your bed tonight as well? Maybe drink lots again and get more debt?"

Coco had never thought that she would be accused of sleeping with someone other than her lover— it was a first.

However, since it was her first time, she felt somehow offended and hurt as the accusation was a direct attack on her character and fidelity.

The fact that her supposedly spouse was the one accusing her— didn’t make it any better.

She felt annoyed and frustrated at the fourth husband for making the accusation as his words were not only false, but also malicious.

"Why would I do that?" Coco managed to ask, her mood tipping over the edge, doing her best to hold back to not say anything hurtful towards the beautiful person in front of her.

Her face was flushed with irritation and frustration, being falsely accused of sleeping with someone other than her legally tied four husbands made her unexpectedly feel negative about herself.

Never in her life would she try to get with someone while still bound legally to someone because not only would it hurt their feelings and ruin their reputation, it would also ruin hers.

"I wouldn’t be surprised if you really did cheat on me or the other husbands." Quizen shook his head, a small smile creeping into his lips, "I wouldn’t put it past you. You’re already a good for nothing person, right? Sleeping with someone else wouldn’t drag your reputation further down the mud when it’s already deep in there."

Her chest rose and fell with each heavy breath, trying to calm herself down, her eyes narrowed as she bit back a venomous retort.

Calm down, Coco.. What he said is not true. It was Coco Hughes’s reputation and past, not yours.. You’re literally a virgin! A person with no experience being in a relationship whatsoever! Coco thought to herself, her lips quivering as she inhaled deeply.

She could feel her heart slamming against her chest and her hands curled into tight fists of frustration and embarrassment.

The accusation was an insult to her honor and her morals, which she was feeling pissed off at the very accusation.

However, her train of thoughts worked like a charm. She inhaled sharply and exhaled shakily, her anger and frustration dissipating in an instant as she thought about her purity in her previous life.

"I don’t know about your wife, but I’m not your wife anymore." Coco said as she smiled softly at the fourth husband, "Though, I am still legally bound to you and the others, I’m not her anymore, but I did promise that I’ll divorce you, right?"

From the corner of her eyes, she saw Quizen’s hands curled into a tight fist which left her feeling satisfied.

"My only responsibility for you and the others are bringing you food, giving you what you need, keeping the roof over your heads, and giving you guys weekly allowances." Coco shrugged her shoulders in a nonchalant manner, not feeling offended anymore.

"Don’t worry about my debt starting today. I’m working to pay it off and even get myself a business partner." Coco tilted her head at him, taunting him to say something as outrageous as his accusation earlier.

"I brought back some food for you and others, I dropped it at your house. Zaque or Heiren probably cooked it already so go home. You must be tired, right?" Coco felt like an asshole for saying things like this, but she was a petty person.

Quizen’s blue eyes narrowed into a glare and it was directly pointed at her, "So you’re bragging that you’re finally stepping up to do your responsibility that you were supposed to do the moment we got married to you? Is that it?"

Looks like I hit a nerve. Coco pursed her lips and looked away from him.

"I told you, didn’t I? I’m not Coco Hughes. I’m Coco Coison, supposedly a fresh college graduate and obviously not your wife."
