New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 199: A talk over breakfast

Chapter 199: A talk over breakfast

Silence.

The room was completely filled with silence, no one dared to make a noise and would rather stare at their plate filled with food instead of breaking the tension first.

Coco felt bad, but she knew that breakfast at the house, with everyone present, won’t be easy.

Coco sighed deeply, the sound she let out made the husbands shift their attention from their plates to her face, their gazes a mixture of confusion and agitation.

Ever since Alhai got down from his room, he had been staring pointedly at Coco.

Zaque sat beside Coco to make sure that Alhai won’t be able to get near her and strike up a conversation with her, making sure to distract her in his presence instead of letting her have a staring contest with Alhai.

Heiren focused on cooking breakfast amidst the topic Zaque thought of and even had Quizen give him a hand.

When breakfast was served, Coco sat down with Zaque on her left and Quizen on her right— Alhai sat down beside Zaque and Heiren sat down beside Quizen.

Coco picked up her wooden spoon and cleared her throat, alarming the four mediators.

"I’m pretty sure that I told the four of you that I’m not Coco Hughes anymore, right?" She asked, her gaze shifting from Zaque to Alhai, Quizen, and Heiren.

"Yes, you were pretty clear with that." Zaque was the one who answered, but Quizen looked like he was the only one who agreed with the first husband’s confirmation— nodding his head along.

"I’m also sure that I introduced myself as Coco Coison." Coco added to her previous question, her eyebrows slightly raising to her hairline.

Once more, Zaque and Quizen were the only ones who showed her that they were listening.

"I’m quite sure that I said that I’m not from this world, right?" Coco looked at Zaque, blinking owlishly as she asked the question.

"Kind of..?" Zaque answered her once more.

"Then, that means that I made it clear that I’m not Coco Hughes because I asked you questions about this world." She added to her previous question, smiling softly towards the first husband.

"You did." Zaque agreed, nodding his head.

Coco hummed, pleased with herself that she remembered what she had done for the past month of living in this world.

Normally, she would have forgotten what she had done yesterday if she was back in her world, earth— however, she was strangely active and attentive ever since she possessed Coco Hughes’ body.

Clearing her throat again, she resumed her inquiries.

"After introducing myself, I promised that I’ll be paying off my debt, give the four of you a weekly allowance, have this house fixed, and ask for a divorce, right?" Coco listed off the things she swore she would do, raising her spoon in the air as she pointed at Zaque.

"I give the allowances to Zaque and ask him to split it evenly, right? I didn’t want to impose the dynamic between the four of you so I gave it to the first husband." Coco said, putting her hand down.

Also, because I don’t really care how the money gets split. What matters was that I did my part and gave Zaque the money. Coco wanted to add, but she decided against it to avoid getting someone mad.

"Then, I send different kinds of fruits, vegetables, and meat to this house when I get extra busy." Coco hummed out, recalling the days when she had to ask Renaldo and Jacques to deliver the vegetables and fruits to the house because she was upset with the mediators.

"You did receive the food I sent, didn’t you?" Coco asked, the question wasn’t pointed to someone particular and just let anyone answer the question if they want to.

Zaque and Quizen didn’t answer the question this time.

They were not awake in those mornings when she sent food over to their house, but in the evenings, Zaque would receive them instead of someone else.

That someone else was..

"Yes.." Heiren answered, his voice dripping with uncertainty, his eyebrows furrowed.

.. Heiren.

By the time Zaque had got out of his room, Heiren would be running around the kitchen, preparing the ingredients he needed for breakfast.

In those mornings, Zaque would question Heiren where he got vegetables or meat, but would never get an answer.

However, deep down, he knows that Coco had sent those to the house— Heiren just didn’t want to accept the idea of accepting something from Coco.

"That’s great." Coco smiled and turned away from the second husband, "I thought I have to ask Renaldo or Jac—"

"Just where are you leading this ’important’ talk to? All I hear is you whining and gloating at the fact that you’re starting to act how a head of the house should act." Alhai snapped, cutting Coco off with a glare.

"Alhai." Zaque was quick to cast a glance to the third husband, his red eyes narrowing into a glare.

"All that talk about you having an important discussion with us whether I like it or not must have been just a lie, huh?" Alhai mumbled under his breath, shifting his glare from Coco to his plate.

Coco let the silver haired mediator grumble on his seat, pushing a spoonful of her food inside her mouth.

Seeing that she had taken the first bite, the other three mediators decided to start eating as well— ignoring a certain mediator’s mumble to keep their inner peace.

"Alhai was right." Coco spoke up after swallowing, "I guess I’m dragging this on instead of going straight to the point."

The mediators didn’t react and just continued eating.

"Regarding the construction of the house and divorce, I know myself that I can’t do it in this village." Coco said, pushing some rice to her spoon using a wooden fork.

Zaque’s heart suddenly dropped, a sense of dread pooling in his stomach.

Surely, she wasn’t going to say what he was thinking, right—

"So, I’m going to the main city."
