Chapter 94: SURE YOU WOULD KEEP YOUR WORD

Chapter 94: SURE YOU WOULD KEEP YOUR WORD

"Father!" Rowaine and Catherine said in surprise.

Aristia managed to catch sight of Catherine and Rowaine’s blushing faces as they could guess what the couple was busy doing.

Wilson and Fedor, on the other hand, kept sending suggestive gazes and teasing smiles towards their wives.

[Excuse you all! Can you all consider us children? Do not taint our innocent minds.] Aristia thought, while still looking oblivious and innocently confused just like her cousins.

Well, most of her cousins. Judging from Ivan’s reddening ears, he seemed to not understand what exactly they meant, but he understood enough to know that what they were talking about was not for general audiences.

Shortly after the royal grandparents arrived, the meal began. After the servants served the dishes and filled the glasses, they were dismissed, leaving the dining room for the family alone.

"Tia dear. Were you able to get what you wanted?" Mother Queen Melissa asked amidst cutting a slice of meat that sat on her plate.

"Yes, Grandma. I purchased some cutlery and kitchen utensils. I also chose some designs for furniture I want to be used in the restaurant." Aristia explained before putting the vegetable hanging midair in her fork into her mouth.

"When are you going to visit the restaurant and check its progress? Or did you do it today?" Ivan asked curiously, turning to her.

"I didn’t get to check out how the restaurant’s construction is coming out. That will be tomorrow after my classes with my tutors." Aristia replied his question.

"I would like to come along and see the restaurant." Ivan said. He then turned to Rowaine and Fedor. "Father, Mother. Would it be alright to go with Tia tomorrow to see the restaurant after my classes?"

"Of course." His parents replied.

"I would like to come along too." Serina said.

"Same goes for me." Beatrix said.

Alaric was not to be left out. He also asked to go along with Aristia to see the restaurant.

"You can all go. But with the guards." Fedor said, looking at all of them. "Your safety is of utmost importance."

They all agreed. They would go out disguised. No one would be able to tell that they were members of the royal family. They knew that the guards Fedor was referring to were the shadow guards.

At this point in time, the family was almost convinced that Aristia was determined to go through with her plans and that she would not back down.

The deal Aristia had made with Wilson still stood, but she was not at all worried. Failure was not an option.

"The building has been arranged, Tia." Aristia looked up when Wilson started to speak.

"What building?" Rowaine asked with interest.

"Oh that... I planned to hold a test or examination to test the culinary skills of potential chefs to the restaurant. We’ve started to circulate news about it. The date for the event has been set but no building has been selected. At least not before now." Aristia finished her explanation.

"Good. That is good." Melvin nodded his head, impressed. His youngest granddaughter always knew how to surprise him with her ideas.

"I told some people to spread word that the examination will be held in six days." Aristia said.

Wilson raised his brows. "How could you be so sure that the building would be available before then?" He asked.

Aristia shrugged. "I wasn’t. But I was sure that you would keep your word, Papa." She finished, looking confidently at her father.

It was not that she was blindly confident by telling Dahlia and Dorothy that the examination would be held in six days. She was just sure that Wilson would not disappoint. She had a backup plan in case Wilson failed to provide the building.

Wilson chuckled and shook his head, but he was very happy inside. His lips curled up in a smile. His daughter was finally relying on him once again.

The family happily went on with their meal enveloped in a lively atmosphere.

The next day.

Servants moved around the palace busily, going about their various tasks. Part of the reason was the Imperial Prince’s family’s departure from the palace.

They had stayed in the palace for a month and would be returning home today. Although their belongings were packed in the morning, the family would only depart for home in the evening.

Aristia and Owen, along with Alaric and their cousins left the palace in the late afternoon, after their classes.

Today was the agreed upon day to stop by the restaurant to monitor the progress of its construction.

They soon arrived at the vicinity of the restaurant.

"Tia, it is so tall." Alaric said, looking up at the building that would be the restaurant. He was already small, and standing in front of the magnificent building made the disparity even wider.

"It is." Ivan nodded, looking at the restaurant with awe.

Workers were working all around the building trying to complete it. Both on the inside and the outside of the building, they worked busily. They looked very determined, after all, they were paid their wages well and on time.

"Hello children. Come to take a look at the building?" One of the workers smiled kindly at them.

Aristia guessed that the worker asked such questions because children probably would come by to witness the building’s construction.

Her eyes noticed some children also pointing at the building and chattering with curious excitement.

"Why are those builders dressed differently?" Beatrix asked, pointing at the builders she was referring to.

She noticed there were other builders dressed differently from the rest of the builders.

"That’s true. Why are they dressed differently?" Serina asked.

Ivan and Alaric turned to Aristia and Owen for an explanation.

Ivan noticed that they also moved with more experience and professionalism compared to the other builders.

"Those are the builders provided by Osric Caravans. The materials we purchased from them are unique and not commonly used so the other builders may not know how to use it. So Osric Caravans provided these builders to help in supervising the construction of the building and assisting in the construction itself." Owen explained in Aristia’s stead.

The builders from Osric Caravans were the perfect people for the job. Aristia acknowledged their expertise. They had the knowledge, experience and skill to successfully carry out the job satisfactorily.

After a while of watching the restaurant, they turned to leave.

Ivan decided to tour the streets of the capital since he hadn’t ever gotten a chance to do so without being recognized as the crown Prince. But now they were disguised, he couldn’t wait to feel how it was touring the streets like a normal person.

Aristia agreed. It was an opportunity for all of them to spend time together before they returned to the palace for the farewell dinner.

As they toured the street, Aristia made sure they also tried the street food. She wanted them to experience the joy of strolling the streets while enjoying delicious food.

Alaric kept looking around excitedly, making funny expressions and sounds of ’oooh’ and ’ahhhh’. He was truly excited.

Today was a normal day. The common people moved about their various activities trying to earn a living. Rental carriages rode past on the road, and children played around in a corner of the street as was the usual. This was also a good time for Ivan, who would inherit his father’s title and become king, to learn about the lifestyle of his people.

The walked through different streets, Aristia and Owen leading the way with Adeline following behind all of them.

Aristia had walked around these streets so much that they had become familiar to her. She could go to a lot of places now.

They walked about for a while when she said. "I want to check out the building Papa has arranged." Her father had given her the location of the building. She nodded at Owen. "Owen."

She hadn’t ever been to the area the building was located, but Owen and Adeline were the ones who knew the way around the most among them all.

Owen led them away from that street and into another. They walked for a while and stopped at a building with the name Broughton Hall. It was a large building that looked like a place for hosting events. It was perfect for the culinary test.

She walked forward. Owen was about to stop her but Aristia had already approached the building. She was about to walk in to see the inside when she was stopped by a plumpy middle aged woman.

"What are you doing here, little girl? Go back to wherever you came from. This is not a playhouse." The woman turned her back.

Aristia was stunned. She had forgotten that they were disguised as commoners and that they were little children, coupled with the fact that the hall had been booked. The woman would have been told that it was for an important event. Was that why Owen wanted to stop her?

Serina stepped forward with an angry expression on her face.

"What do you mean by speaking to her like that? I will have you beh—!"

[Wha— were you about to say beheaded? Where did you learn that from?] Aristia thought with incredulity. She was a bit amused.

Serina looked like a cat that had been stepped on its tail, baring her teeth and hissing.

She quickly stopped her by pulling her back towards her. "Seri, no." She whispered, shaking her head.

The woman glared at Aristia and Serina.

"Hmph!" Serina humphed, turning away. "Only because you asked. Else I wouldn’t have let her go." She glared back at the woman.

Aristia turned away, addressing the others. "We can’t go inside. But, the building is perfect. Let’s go."

Behind them, they heard the woman snort. "Hah! You wouldn’t have let me go? What would you have done— run crying and complaining to your mama?"
