Chapter 145: AURA (2)

"Now, picture that feeling spreading through your body," Captain Hugh continued, not knowing what she was thinking about to have such a nostalgic expression on her face. "Feel it moving from your heart outward."

As Aristia concentrated, she felt a tingling sensation spreading through her body, starting from her chest and radiating outward.

Opening her eyes slowly, she saw a faint glow beginning to shimmer around her, like a soft halo of light, enveloping her and pulsating gently with her heartbeat.

Captain Hugh’s voice broke through her concentration. "Well done, Princess," he said, his tone filled with approval. "You’re beginning to manifest your aura. That glow around you? It’s your aura, a special part of you now. With practice, you’ll learn to control it."

Aristia looked at him in awe. "It’s... it’s beautiful," she murmured, watching the faintly shimmering colors dance around her.

"You have a natural affinity for this, Princess," Captain Hugh remarked with surprise, his eyes studying the aura with interest.

’How unusual.’ The princess’s aura was grey and had a bluish-purple sheen surrounding it that wasn’t very noticeable. It was unusual to have more than one colour for aura.

But then again, it was already unusual for females to manifest aura.

The next moment, the initially calm sensation of aura Aristia felt changed into a wild, surging feeling, and Aristia felt it wasn’t in her control. It was the feeling of something trying to burst open and out of her chest, and it made her blood heat up.

A gasp escaped her lips. [What is this sensation?]

It wasn’t comfortable, neither was it uncomfortable. It was a very complex feeling she couldn’t quite explain.

Hugh noticed from her expression. "You haven’t learnt to control your aura yet so it’s still wild." He explained.

Aristia nodded. The manifested aura vanished a moment later.

"Oh..." Aristia went limp.

Owen rushed to her aid but before he could, Captain Hugh caught her.

Aristia glared up at the captain. He had let her almost fall to the ground before he caught her.

"You seem to have enough strength to glare. Get some rest, princess. We’ll practice manifesting and controlling it during the next training." Captain Hugh held in his laughter and resumed his poker face.

Aristia nodded. She was too weak to continue training now. It reminded her of Ivan.

[So this is how he felt.]

The difference was that Ivan had succeeded in controlling his aura, while she had just succeeded in manifesting it intentionally.

Owen went forward to assist her to return to the mansion to rest.

After the training, Aristia headed to her room to take a bath. Then, she rested for a whole hour. After she had regained her energy, she headed to the dining room to have breakfast.

"I’ve finally manifested my aura." She smiled at the people in the dining room; her parents, little brother and Owen.

Alaric clapped happily, looking proud.

"That’s marvelous." Catherine smiled, "I had no doubt that you could do it."

Wilson nodded in agreement with Catherine’s words and praised Aristia, "That’s true. And in such short time."

[Three months is a short time?] Aristia was speechless.

After breakfast, she went to the drawing room for her history class with Viscountess Vasily.

"Today, we will study about the Fiefs in the Kingdom." Vasily began the lesson. "In Amberale, every family in nobility is given a territory to manage as a Fief Lord."

The Nobles each had fiefs that they managed from generation to generation. The Grand Duke, however, was assigned two fiefs to manage; One in the east and the other in the north.

[So that was why she said papa dealt with mining minerals and also has fertile land during our first class when I first arrived in this world. It’s from his territory in the north and east.] Aristia finally understood.

Of course Wilson was given the best and largest territories in the kingdom.

She listened attentively as Vasily taught, but her mind would occasionally veer to the training this morning with the captain.

Vasily didn’t even notice her divided attention.

After her history class, Aristia attended her etiquette and dance classes.

After the dance lesson which was the last for the day, Aristia left the dance room.

Catherine approached her with a small smile.

"Tia, your arts tutor has arrived." Catherine smiled at her. Her daughter was now six years old and would now be learning other subjects.

The girls in nobility had various tutors for various subjects. When they were four years old, they were taught by a governess who was responsible for the overall education and upbringing of noble girls, including etiquette, manners, basic literacy, and basic arithmetic.

They often oversaw the girls’ education from a young age until they were deemed ready for more specialized tutors which was when they turned five years old. Then, they would be taught by tutors on specific subjects.

Aristia first started to be tutored by a History tutor, Etiquette tutor, Dance Instructor, Embroidery tutor and Music Instructor as did all the noble girls that age in Amberale.

At six years of age, they would begin to be tutored by an Arts Tutor who provided instruction in various arts such as drawing, painting, and calligraphy.

When they turned seven, they would be introduced to a Literature Tutor who educated noble girls in classical literature, and poetry. And at the age of ten, they would head to the academy where they would have a whole lot of other classes introduced to them.

Aristia nodded when she thought of this, "Okay, Mama."

They moved to the drawing room where the arts tutor was waiting.

There was a woman sitting on the couch and sipping tea. A teapot and tray was on the table in front of her.

She looked up when they entered the room and put down her tea. Then she stood up.

"Greetings, Your Highness, the third princess. I am Agnes. I will be your tutor for the Arts." The woman curtsied in greeting. She looked to be in her late thirties.

She kept the polite smile on her face, and her expression didn’t reveal what she thought of Aristia.

[Even though she’s not showing her thoughts, it’s probably not anything good judging by Aristia’s reputation among both nobles and commoners.]

Regardless of what she was thinking, Aristia returned the curtsie. "Hello, Lady Agnes. Please, teach me well." She responded politely.

"I will be very honored." Lady Agnes nodded and sat back down just as Catherine and Aristia took their seats side by side.

The arts class would now be added to Aristia’s itinerary for her classes.

"May I ask if the princess has any experience in painting?" Lady Agnes asked. "I want to know if she has any foundation." She explained.

Catherine nodded. "She does. The princess has quite the talent in painting. She painted a very stunning picture for her great grandparents a few months ago." Catherine subtly boasted with a straight expression on her face.

"I see," Lady Agnes showed surprise for a moment before she reverted to the neutral, polite expression. She thought that Catherine was probably exaggerating.

After meeting the arts tutor, Aristia returned to her room.

Seeing the sun setting outside the window, it was clear that the day was quickly coming to an end.

She jumped on the bed and buried her face in her pillow. "Linny, please close the curtains. I want to rest."

"Yes, princess." Adeline responded cheerily, coming to the bed and pulling close the purple drapery of the canopy bed.

"Thank you," Aristia thanked Adeline, her voice coming out muffled because of the pillow.

"It’s what I should do princess," Adeline replied, smiling.

After some time, Aristia turned around to face the ceiling. She was exhausted and wanted to get some sleep but her mind just kept thinking about her first successful attempt at manifesting aura consciously.

[Sigh. I did it.]

She had finally manifested aura after trying for three long months.

[It wasn’t easy.] She thought exaggeratedly, trying to imitate a wise scholar.

"I still don’t know what to feel though." She mumbled.

When the aura had manifested, she had only felt awe at how it looked. She didn’t feel happy or excited. Should she have been happy or excited that she had gotten aura which was uncommon for females? What use was it to her anyway?

She had just kept trying to manifest it because it didn’t make sense for her to leave it uncontrolled.

Like Wilson said, she had to learn to manifest it at will and keep it controlled, if not, it could appear unexpectedly and put her in danger. She wanted to avoid that.

That was all.

Except that...

[My abilities seem to have been enhanced.] She could now hear clearer than before and that much amazed her. Even her vision and sense of smell seemed even better now.

She kept thinking about these changes until her exhaustion soon won over her consciousness and sleep took over.
