Chapter 101: THE MONEY BELONGS TO THE PRINCESS
"Viscountess Vasily. Have you made up your mind?" Aristia suddenly asked as Viscountess Vasily was packing her things.
She had told Viscountess Vasily that she would ask for an answer in seven days which was today; the day after the first round of the culinary examination.
Vasily froze, then she sat back down on her chair. It had actually skipped her mind. She sighed and turned to face Aristia.
"Your Highness, if you really build a school... it would be my honor to be a teacher in your school." Viscountess Vasily bowed.
Aristia smiled. "Thank you, Viscountess. I’m very happy with your answer." She flashed a cute smile.
*Knock* *Knock*
A knock sounded on the door.
"Princess, her highness has requested for your presence." A servant informed from the other side.
Aristia was surprised for a moment. What could her mother want? She couldn’t think of anything that her mother could want to tell her.
[Maybe she just wants to spend some time with her daughter. I’ve been quite busy for the past few days.] She remembered her conversation with Catherine a few months ago.
She stood up. "I’ll see you in the next class then, Viscountess Vasily."
"Alright, Princess Aristia." Viscountess Vasily nodded, gathering her things.
Aristia left the room. She turned to the maid who had informed her of her mother’s request for her presence.
"Where is my mother?" She asked.
While she was attending her classes, her father was training with his knights. Alaric and Owen were with him. She didn’t know what her mother was doing.
"Madam is in her room, princess." The maid bowed and replied.
Aristia headed towards her mother’s room. "Mama, may I come in?" She knocked on the door and asked.
"You may come in, Tia." She heard her mother answer.
The maid opened the door and Aristia entered the room. The maid bowed and left.
"Come, Tia." Her mother called and left the mini parlour and entered her room. There was another open door door inside the bedroom.
Aristia followed along silently. She now had an inkling of what her mother needed her for. She saw her standing with her lady-in-waiting, Melanie. They were inside the walk in closet.
Catherine held up a dress and turned to Aristia. "Tia, what do you think about this gown?" Catherine asked.
It was a pink gown with puffed up sleeves. It looked like the adult version of one of the gowns Aristia had before she entered her body.
Aristia shook her head.
"What about this one? I’m attending a tea party in the palace tomorrow at mid noon." Catherine held up another dress. This one was better than the last but not stylish enough to Aristia.
"No." Aristia went towards the clothes. "You’re heading to the palace tomorrow?"
"Yes. Your aunt invited me for a tea party she’s hosting for noblewomen and their daughters. Adeline will get you ready." Catherine informed.
Aristia took some time to think about it. Tomorrow, she was going to Broughton Hall for the second round of the culinary test. She would only be free in the mid afternoon. That was her rest time. She preferred to stay home in the Mansion but she could go to the palace. She could use that opportunity to carry out her plans.
After thinking about this, she nodded. "Alright, mama." Then, she proceeded to help her mother pick a dress.
She found a beautiful gown. It was blue in color with pearls sewn on the front and bodice. It flowed straight down.
"This one is better, Mama." She pointed at the gown.
"It is indeed better." Catherine said.
Ever since Aristia designed the beautiful dresses and training clothes for herself, Beatrix and Serina, Catherine would always ask her to choose a dress for her whenever she needed to head out.
"Throw these away." Catherine suddenly said to Melanie. She was referring to the clothes Aristia had rejected. It was obvious Aristia did not like the clothes. She had noticed how her daughter had looked at the clothes with an expression of dislike. Was her taste that bad?
She changed her words, "Throw all the similar clothes away."
It wasn’t that Catherine’s taste in choosing clothes was bad. It was actually one of the best in the kingdom. It was just that Aristia, who was from the modern world, had seen better styles and could not bring herself to like some of the designs in this world.
Melanie was about to leave to arrange for servants to clear the wardrobe in order to dispose of the dresses when Aristia stopped her.
"Wait!" She stopped Melanie. "Why are you throwing them away, Mama?" Aristia asked Catherine, perplexed.
"I will no longer wear them." Catherine replied, feeling a little bit at a loss at her daughter’s reaction.
Aristia tsked inside her mind. The clothes her mother wanted to throw away were actually clothes that either had not been worn or had only been worn once.
Of course, Catherine had the choice to choose what to do with her clothes but Aristia had a more profitable idea.
She turned to Catherine. "I have a better idea. Lady Melanie can put the clothes in a store room in the mansion. Since you are not going to wear them again, we can sell them." Aristia said.
The wives and daughters of wealthy families would buy them. It would be wasteful to just throw them away.
"Oh, I see." Catherine said and turned to Melanie. "Melanie, do as the princess said. The money gotten from the sold clothes belongs to her."
"Yes, your highness." Melanie bowed and turned to leave to call the servants to help in carrying out the clothes as had been her intention. It was just that this time, the intention was not to throw them away.
Aristia whipped around to look at Catherine. "The money belongs to me?"
"Of course," Catherine rubbed her daughter’s head. "You came up with the ideas, otherwise, I would have had it thrown away."
"Okay, then. Thank you, mama!" Aristia beamed brightly.
Catherine laughed. "Oh, Tia."
Remembering that she had classes, Aristia turned to her. "Excuse me, Mama. I shall now head to my next class."
"Alright. I’ll leave you to go now." Catherine smiled and bent to kiss her cheeks affectionately.
While Aristia left, she thought. [I’m about to get extra money, yay!]

The next day.
Today was the second round of the culinary test. Just like the day of the first round, Aristia got dressed early, but today, Aristia would only train and attend the history class with Viscountess Vasily Hemsworth before heading to Broughton Hall.
The culinary examination would be held later than the last time.
After training with the captain, Aristia headed to her history class.
"Princess, it slipped my mind yesterday, but I wanted to ask you something." Vasily started after Aristia had settled down.
Aristia looked up. "What would you like to know, Viscountess Vasily?" She asked curiously.
"Does His Royal Highness know about your intention to build a school for the commoners?" She had forgotten to ask her pupil about this after she agreed to accept her request.
Aristia was silent for some seconds before she answered. "I have not informed him. The decision to build the school will happen in the future."
Right now, she was focusing on the restaurant. The school might be built after a few years.
"I see." Viscountess Vasily nodded in understanding and then began the lesson.
After the lesson, Aristia donned her disguise for her ’Miss Aris’ alias and prepared to head to Broughton Hall.
"Owen, deliver this letter to Beatrix." Aristia handed him a sealed envelope.
"Yes, princess." Owen bowed lightly and left.
"Let’s go, Linny." Aristia said to Adeline.
They headed to Broughton Hall. They weren’t going to pick up Dahlia and Dorothy. The sisters would head to the venue themselves.
On arriving at Broughton Hall, they discovered that the sisters and Mr Charles Lambert along with his wife had already arrived.
"There is no need to repeat the rules to the contestants today, Mister Lambert." Aristia reminded. "You should just remind them again of the dish they are expected to make. The time remains the same."
Aristia used the words ’remind them again’ because the participants had been informed on the first day of the examination of the dish they were expected to make for the second round of the cooking test.
There was only seven minutes remaining until the examination started.
"Let them in." She ordered.
"Got it, Miss." Mister Lambert went to inform the guards to let the contestants into the hall.
"Miss Aris, thank you for allowing us to take some food to the children." Dahlia held her hands together to her chest. It made things a lot easier for them that day.
"It is nothing. The food was going to be shared anyway." Aristia waved it off.
She knew that the others were curious about what she did with the food that tasted bad, but refrained from asking.
She had distributed the good food to the commoners. As for what happened to the bad food...
