Chapter 382: Arcane Construct
The moment that thought crossed his mind, Ethan just gave up entirely.
Might as well shift his focus back to the Plane World.
"Where are Seraphina and Cicero? Let’s go check out that Dimensional Gate..."
Sure, Sylvanwood’s resources were insane—no doubt about that.
But even so, they probably still couldn’t compare to what the Plane World had to offer...
Which was exactly why Ethan was getting more and more impatient to explore it.
But just as he said that, Elynn gave him an awkward smile and said, "Master... Her Highness Seraphina... she’s not here anymore."
"Huh? Where’d she go?" Ethan blinked, caught off guard.
"Well... Her Highness Seraphina, I don’t know what got into her, but she’s been going on and on these past few days about claiming territory and making money. So she just up and left—with Orryn and the entire Green Dragon army. They went dungeon diving..." Elynn looked at Ethan helplessly, then lowered her voice. "Master, should I call her back?"
Ethan could only respond with a long, exasperated sigh. Of course he knew what had gotten into Seraphina—it was that damn Divine Colosseum again, eating away at her thoughts.
He shook his head. "Forget it. Let her do her thing. Honestly, if she manages to carve out some territory in a dungeon, that’s nothing but good news for us."
"What about the Plane World, then?"
"Who’s still around?"
"Kyros, Elyra, and Seran went out to sea. Lilith and Balthazar are with Her Highness Seraphina in the dungeon. That leaves Lord Cicero, the Ancient War Tree Oakenmaw, the Mana Crystal Dragon Zyraxis, Treant Bromir, Bronze Golem Karnak, Archmage Eldrin, and Auremax and Vaelric—they’re all still here," Elynn reported without missing a beat.
Ethan paused, thinking it over. "Elynn, do you think that place might be connected to the Metal Golems? Normally, without some kind of external interference, there’s no way a resource zone like that would just appear out of nowhere. And considering it’s packed with gems, bronzesteel, gold, dark iron, and all that... I’m starting to suspect that Plane World might be tied to the Tower faction’s Metal Golems—or maybe even Arcane Constructs."
In the world of Glory Lords X, units—whether regular troops or Hero Units—fell into three major categories: Living Beings, Undead, and Arcane Constructs.
Living Beings were easy to understand—anything alive with a soul.
Undead referred almost exclusively to the Necropolis faction—beings that had died but still retained their souls, minds, and intelligence...
As for Arcane Constructs...
Those were the Tower faction’s crowning achievements—masterpieces crafted by their most powerful archmages.
Think Stone Gargoyles, Gold Golems, Iron Golems, Diamond Golems, Genies, Master Genies, even Arcane Colossi, Titans, Arcane Eagles, Simurgh Eagles, and so on.
All of them fell under the Arcane Construct umbrella.
But within that category, there were three distinct branches:
First, the Arcane Beings—entities made purely from magical energy. Examples included Genies, Master Genies, Arcane Eagles, Simurgh Eagles, and the like.
Second, the Metal Golems—constructed primarily from various metal and special resource veins, with magic used as a secondary binding force. Think Gold Golems, Iron Golems, Diamond Golems, etc.
And third, the Arcane Engines—built from a balanced fusion of special resource veins and magical energy. These included Stone Gargoyles, Colossi, Arcane Colossi, Titans, and so on.
Now, technically speaking, within the Tower faction’s own Arcane Construct system, all three branches—Arcane Beings, Metal Golems, and Arcane Engines—were considered equal in rank and importance.
But in practice? When you looked at their representative units, it was pretty clear that Arcane Beings and Arcane Engines were a cut above the Metal Golems.
Why?
Simple.
Because so far, the highest known tier for Metal Golems capped out at Tier 12—classified as Hidden Units. Forget Tier 14 Mythic Units—even Tier 13 Legendary Units were still a big question mark.
In other words, Tier 12 was the known ceiling for the Metal Golem system. And that just didn’t hold a candle to what Arcane Beings or Arcane Engines could achieve.
That was exactly why, as time went on, more and more people started seeing the Metal Golems as a sort of lower-tier branch beneath the Arcane Beings and Arcane Engines. Hell, even a lot of the Tower faction’s own archmages thought the same way...
So if Ethan’s hunch was right—if this Plane World really was connected to the Tower faction’s Metal Golems—then Emerald Castle’s chances of taking it over just shot way up.
After all, the strongest known Metal Golem was only a Tier 12 Diamond Golem. Even if the enemy had a Hero Unit, at most it’d be a D-rank Crimson Ultimate hero. With Emerald Castle’s current strength, they could totally handle that.
Now, if they ran into something tougher—some real heavy hitters—then yeah, that’d be a pain in the ass.
Because let’s be honest: this was a Plane World. A whole damn world. The kind of depth and hidden power it could hold? Way beyond anything a single region could compare to.
We’re talking about a completely different league here.
"Maybe you’re right," Elynn said, nodding thoughtfully, her eyes gleaming. "How about this, Master—you take Karnak and Archmage Eldrin with you to check it out. If it really is what you think, they’re the ones best equipped to understand it."
"Sounds like a plan," Ethan nodded. "Elynn, go get Cicero, Karnak, and Eldrin. We’ll head out together."
"You’re not bringing any regular troops?" Elynn asked, surprised.
"No need for now," Ethan shook his head. "We’re just scouting. Fewer people means less attention. Besides, with Cicero along, unless we’re walking into an all-out war, we should be fine."
"True," Elynn agreed. "With Lord Cicero’s power, he can handle most situations on his own. Alright then, Master—I’ll go notify them right away."
She turned and left swiftly.
It wasn’t long before Cicero arrived first, slicing through the air like a blade, landing gracefully before Ethan and bowing with practiced elegance.
"Master, I’m here."
"Elynn filled you in, right?" Ethan said with a grin. "We’re heading into that Plane World. If we’re lucky, this could be a huge boost for Emerald Castle’s overall strength. Honestly, I’m kinda excited."
Cicero hesitated for a moment, then spoke up. "Master... I actually already snuck in for a quick look. That place... well, it’s probably more desolate and ruined than you’re expecting."
"Desolate? Ruined?" Ethan blinked, caught off guard. He was about to press for more details when Bronze Golem Karnak and Archmage Eldrin arrived with Elynn in tow.
"My Lord," Karnak rumbled in his deep, metallic voice.
"Honored Lord," Eldrin added, bowing with a flourish.
"Master, we’re here," Elynn said.
Seeing them all gathered, Ethan gave a firm nod. "Alright. Let’s move out. We’ll see for ourselves what’s waiting on the other side."
