My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty -
Chapter 768 - 768: The Inevitable Revenge of Bright Clan
Upon hearing the furious roar from Arthur, the Bright Clan warriors were all taken aback, trembling in shock.
"Why would the Divine Son be so enraged?" Some of them still appeared confused, while others wore serious expressions, gazing into the distance with growing concern.
"This is beyond our control. It's better to stay out of it; otherwise, we won't even know how we die," one of them muttered gravely.
The situation was clearly spiraling beyond their understanding, and the more they speculated, the more perilous it seemed.
High in the sky, the overwhelming force from earlier dissipated, and Xue Lengyan, along with several other strong figures, finally stepped out of the shadows. She had stayed at a distance, having been affected by the immense power. Earlier, she had been sweating in fear, not expecting Gu Lan to actually overpower Arthur so easily.
However, what truly frustrated Xue Lengyan was that Gu Lan had not killed Arthur. If he had, it would have saved her a huge headache.
At that very moment, a figure suddenly flashed in the distance. Gu Lan had appeared before her. His unexpected arrival left her stunned, though she quickly regained composure.
"Greetings, my Lord," she said respectfully.
Despite her composed demeanor, Gu Lan gave her a single, indifferent glance before responding coldly, "May I ask what brings Miss Xue Lengyan here?"
Their past collaboration had ended, and Gu Lan harbored no particular fondness for her. Of course, as long as she didn't cause trouble, he would leave her alone.
"I was drawn here by the energy from earlier, and I came to investigate. I apologize for any disturbance I caused. Please, don't take offense, my Lord," Xue Lengyan explained with a bow.
Gu Lan simply nodded curtly and didn't engage further. Sensing that Xue Lengyan understood the situation, she respectfully bowed again and left, vanishing into the distance as her aura flared.
Once the surroundings quieted down, Gu Lan, having only expended a small amount of his energy, retracted his presence and began contemplating. He had initially thought that Xue Lengyan had returned to the Blood Clan, but apparently, she had been lingering nearby, likely plotting something. He sensed that her intentions were not as simple as they seemed, and it was something he would need to keep an eye on.
The arrays they had been studying had been absorbed, and now that the task was complete, Gu Lan and Zhongren began heading back to Lanyan Royal School. The energy from the surroundings slowly dissipated, and the palace grew silent, empty of all but Gu Lan.
He took a deep breath and summoned hundreds of Spirit Fruits, letting his Qi flow through them to heal and restore his energy. Although he had absorbed a significant amount of power earlier, he was still slightly injured. He knew Arthur would not let this matter rest and would soon seek revenge. He had to regain his strength quickly, for the storm was far from over.
Gu Simu, standing nearby with Zhongren, did not approach, understanding the precariousness of the situation and not wanting to disturb Gu Lan's focus.
However, at that very moment, Gu Simu felt a disturbance in the air. Her expression darkened as she instinctively summoned her own Qi.
"How dare they come here again? This time, they won't leave alive!" she muttered to herself. The previous battle had left her frustrated, but now, she was ready to deal with the Bright Clan warriors without hesitation.
Her Qi surged as she leaped into the air, charging toward the disturbance. Zhongren, seeing her act impulsively, tried to stop her, but it was already too late. Gu Simu had already launched herself thousands of feet away.
Zhongren shook his head in resignation, knowing full well the gap in their power. He could not catch up with her. Moments later, Gu Simu's figure had disappeared into the horizon.
Zhongren, worried, was about to use Qimen Dunjia to predict her movements, but before he could act, a cold voice echoed behind him.
"What do you think you're doing?"
He froze. Turning around, he was met with a streak of icy light speeding directly toward his face. The attack was too fast for him to track with his eyes.
Reacting instinctively, Zhongren swung his hand, unleashing a counterattack. Though he was strong, it wasn't enough to stop the incoming blow.
"Boom!"
A thunderous crash echoed through the air, and the sky itself seemed to tremble. Zhongren barely managed to block the strike, but the force sent him flying back several thousand feet. His arm was covered in deep cracks, and he staggered to regain his balance.
Looking up, Zhongren saw four Bright Clan experts standing before him, their expressions grim, eyes filled with murderous intent.
It didn't take long for Zhongren to understand why Arthur had been so furious earlier, nearly losing his life. It was all because of Gu Lan. If not for Gu Lan, these warriors wouldn't have been in such a rush to attack.
The Bright Clan warriors wasted no time, their auras flaring as they closed in on Zhongren.
Zhongren's face grew serious. These opponents were much stronger than he had anticipated. Realizing that he was no match for them, he immediately decided not to wait around.
With a determined look, Zhongren performed a series of hand seals. Suddenly, countless sword shadows erupted from his back, as if they were summoned by his very will.
"Qimen Dunjia, break!" he shouted.
The sword lights surged forward with immense speed, slicing through the air with terrifying precision.
The Bright Clan experts, seeing this, sneered disdainfully. "Is this all you've got?" one of them scoffed.
They had been infuriated for so long, and now was their chance to show their strength. Without hesitation, they unleashed their full power, their auras exploding in the sky.
"Boom!"
A massive shockwave erupted as Zhongren's attack was obliterated in an instant. The Bright Clan warriors didn't even flinch. One of them lunged forward and pierced Zhongren's body with a single sword strike.
But they did not kill him immediately. Instead, they trapped him in a golden cage, binding him with their power. Zhongren winced in pain but tried to resist. Just as he tried to lift his head, one of the attackers stepped forward and grabbed his face, applying pressure.
"Struggle all you want, but it won't do you any good," the man sneered coldly. "If you keep this up, I'll make you wish you were dead."
But their target wasn't Zhongren. They were after Gu Simu.
At that moment, Gu Simu had already traveled hundreds of miles away. She was determined to finish what had started. As she approached, the skies suddenly darkened, and bolts of lightning descended from the heavens.
The ground shook as thunder rumbled, forcing Gu Simu to stop in her tracks. She glared at the distant figures emerging from the clouds.
Six powerful figures stepped into view, their energy emanating with undeniable intensity. Their combined power was immense, and their Qi surged without restraint.
"So, you were waiting for us here? We truly underestimated you," Gu Simu said coldly, a smirk forming on her lips.
She was not afraid. In a flash, her Hammer of Evergreen Pine materialized in her hands.
Seeing the strength Gu Simu radiated, the Bright Clan warriors were dismissive.
"Do you think you can defeat us?" one sneered. "Today, you'll see just how powerless you are."
With that, the six warriors launched themselves at her, turning into blurs as they rapidly closed the distance.
Gu Simu's cold expression didn't change. Her eyes burned with determination.
Just as the attackers neared, she raised her hand, and a tremendous shockwave rippled out from her palm.
The force was so powerful that it shattered the space around them, sending the approaching attackers flying backward, each of them forced to retreat hundreds of feet.
Gu Simu's power was absolute and overwhelming. The battle had only just begun, but the outcome was already clear.
