My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World -
Chapter 359: Black Lightning Lion
Chapter 359: Black Lightning Lion
When Fuego took us on a high-speed flight across the continent, we reached the west area in a few minutes and spotted black smoke coming from a small town.
As soon as the dragon got closer, we noticed that the people destroying the town were the soldiers of the Northern Empire.
Their armor had a combination of iron and pelt to keep them warm, and they wore helms with horns on them that were very similar to what a Viking would use in those fictional stories from my past world.
Along with the soldiers, we saw a couple of Baelzor’s eyes, which were floating around and scanning the destruction that the soldiers were producing.
Suddenly, Yoru got out of my shadow in his humanoid form, showing his teeth with anger and growling at someone at the bottom.
"What’s wrong?" I asked my companion, who was getting more agitated for each second that passed.
["There is one Accursed Beast below..."] he said telepathically.
"I get it, but you have to calm down. We can’t get spotted yet," I replied, knowing that he wanted to jump down from Fuego’s back and look for the beast.
"I got an idea..." I continued.
I opened my void pocket and took out invisibility potions for everyone riding in the back of Fuego. That way, we would be able to go down with him without getting spotted by the eyes.
Right after we all chugged down our vials, I told them to target the eyes first.
Since the invisibility would wear off if we used a lot of strength or if we cast a powerful spell, my plan was to take out all of the eyes at the same time. That way, whenever we all became visible after destroying them, there wouldn’t be any monster that could spot us.
Everyone understood, and right as Fuego made his landing on the burning town, the enemy soldiers gathered to the side as if they were expecting to talk to him.
In the center of their group, a man with long, black hair that resembled a lion’s mane stood tall.
He looked like a beastkin, although way more beast than human. His eyes were shining red, he had rough, black fur covering all of his body, and he was at least 7 feet tall.
’That’s an Accursed Beast...’ I thought.
The demonic energy that was flowing from the black lion man felt pretty overwhelming. Not as much as some devils, but I believed he was the strongest Accursed Beast we had seen.
The only one that could have compared to his power was Minotaur, and even though Yoru managed to kill him, he got beat up pretty badly during that encounter.
"A black lightning lion. What a shame..." said Fuego as his first words to the beast.
Right as he started speaking, my group and I jumped down from Fuego’s back and started to position ourselves close to Baelzor’s eyes, which were still floating around and glancing at the dragon.
Knowing that he wasn’t carrying us anymore, Fuego changed into his humanoid form, as his dragon form was too big for the small town.
"Dragon. Why are you here?" the black lion man rudely asked.
"I felt a commotion in my continent. What are YOU doing here?" Fuego replied, seemingly indifferent to his conversation with the beast.
While the two of them kept exchanging words, I noticed that Baelzor’s eyes were staring at Fuego attentively, showing clear interest in him.
"You should not be here," the lion man continued, grinning his teeth with anger.
"Again, this is my continent. I can go wherever I please..." the dragon replied, angering the beast even more.
The talk between the two of them seemed like it was about to get violent, so I gave my team the signal, and we all executed Baelzor’s eyes at the same time, cutting the devil from looking at the dragon.
Suddenly, the lion man extended his arms and waved them to the sides, slicing in half the soldiers that stood guard around him and killing them instantly.
’What the-?’ I quickly pondered, as it made no sense why he would just execute his own soldiers.
"Useless humans, out of my way!" he exclaimed, launching himself at Fuego.
Nonetheless, before he even reached the dragon, Yoru appeared from the beast’s shadow and hit him with an uppercut in the chin that could be heard all over the destroyed town.
Yoru’s aura was burning with anger—something that happened each time we encountered Accursed Beasts.
I didn’t know if it was a side effect from the mission Garon gave him, which was killing any Accursed Beast he found, or if his feelings stemmed from the fact that it was one of those beasts who killed his parents.
It’s not like it mattered. Yoru truly hated Accursed Beasts, and simply asking him to hold back was already hard enough for him.
Now that Baelzor’s eyes were out of the picture, there was no reason for me to ask him to stand down.
*nghh* The lion man grunted as he stood up, holding his chin.
"You... You hid the people of this town. Bring them to me, NOW!" the beast shouted.
’So, the people are hidden!’ I thought.
The rest of the soldiers that hadn’t been executed started moving and attacking us. However, their movements were pretty stiff and coordinated, which made it quite easy to avoid them.
The soldier’s eyes were devoid of all emotions, as they just stared into the void without a single expression appearing on their faces.
Even when I punched one of them in the gut and knocked the wind out of them, their faces didn’t wince at the pain.
"I mean, this is just creepy at this point..." I muttered after sending one of the soldiers flying into a wall.
"They are brainwashed..." Vespera replied as she knocked out two other soldiers with ease.
"Yeah, I can see that. I just didn’t expect them to be like an actual puppet,"
Knocking out all of the controlled soldiers was a piece of cake, so I focused on Yoru and the black lion fighting.
I was about to jump in and help my companion, but Fuego stopped me from doing so, saying that Yoru needed this training if he wanted to stand a chance against the other Accursed Beasts.
