Chapter 342: Storm Dragon’s Trial (Part 1)
Melina and I woke up the next day hugging each other inside the small rock shack that we made, with Yoru and the bear cub, Apollo, sleeping at the foot of the bed.
The addition of Athena and Apollo into our group wasn’t something we expected would happen in this place, but it was a pleasant surprise for everyone.
When I got out of the shack, I saw Vespera and Athena talking with each other, and the spider seemed to be teaching her magic spells, which I thought looked pretty funny.
Sitting down on her rear with her legs spread, Athena was around 8ft tall (2.5m), so her size would be pretty intimidating to anyone.
Apollo, who was still just a cub, was slightly bigger than Yoru in his smaller wolf form, which made us think that he would eventually be even bigger than his mom.
When I asked Vespera what she was trying to teach Athena, she told me that she wanted to teach her telepathy, as we didn’t have a way to communicate with each other.
Usually, when making a familiar contract, the individuals would get the ability to talk telepathically to their companions, no matter where they were.
However, it took a bit of time for Yoru to do it, so it would probably take the bears a bit of time to master it, too.
Vespera was a different case since she was a Legendary Beast when we met, so she knew a wide array of spells before our contract.
After we all had breakfast, it was time for us to keep moving towards Rose Peak, which would be the next stop as there were no more magical hot springs.
Still, we were a bit curious to see how much our MP had grown after taking a bath in all of the magical hot springs on the way here, and we were pretty surprised with the results.

<Name: Melina Sephyr

MP: 181,000
Titles: Princess, Phelena’s Blessed, Chocolatier, Master Hunter, Sage.>
Our MP pool had gone up by fifty thousand, which was an incredible amount, as there were people in the world who wouldn’t even get close to that number during their entire lifetime.
Vespera said that the boost we received was relative to the amount of MP you had when bathing in the water. In other words, the more MP you had, the more you would gain.
’That seems a bit unfair...’ I thought, as it only made the strong even stronger.
After walking for a few more hours, we were getting close to a point where the path reached a tall wall, and Athena told us that Rose Peak was at the top.
The day was clear and sunny, with barely any clouds in the sky. However, as soon as we got closer to the wall, a strong wind current started to surround the mountain.
Not even ten seconds later, the sky was being covered by a vortex of thundering dark clouds, turning the bright, sunny day into a dark and rainy one.
"What the hell... It was a beautiful day..." I muttered as the rain started to pour on us.
"I see. It’s definitely the Storm Dragon who is here..." Vespera replied, looking up at the peak suspiciously.
"Well, are they mad about us coming here or something?" I asked as the wind got even more potent.
We didn’t mind the cold temperature at the mountain since our ponchos kept us warm, but it didn’t keep us from getting wet, so we felt warm and soaked at the same time.
Vespera explained to us that dragons were overprotective of their territory, and the fact that a storm had appeared out of nowhere didn’t necessarily mean that the dragon was angry at us.
"Okay, if there is a chance we can talk to them, then I guess we should fly up and say hello..." I continued.
However, as I jumped and activated the gravity enchantment on my poncho to fly, it deactivated almost instantly.
"What the-?" I pondered out loud as I inspected my poncho.
Athena grunted to catch my attention, and when I gazed at her, the bear was shaking her head from side to side as if she disapproved of my actions.
"She says that magic can’t be used from this point forward..." said Vespera, who was translating everything Athena told us.
"This is the dragon’s trial. Only the ones who can climb that wall without the use of magic can reach the top," she continued elaborating.
The wall in front of us was at least 500-600 meters tall, which was definitely possible to climb without any gear, and the fact that we had improved stamina and strength would help us out even more.
Still, if we fell, we didn’t have anything that would stop us from crashing down, and the fact that the most violent storm I had seen in my life was coming down on us wouldn’t make it any easier.
We told Yoru and the two bears to wait for us there, and I asked Vespera to stay there, too, but she refused and said that she wanted to do the trial, as it had been a long time since she saw the Storm Dragon.
"Alright, then. Let’s go..." I said, going first and clinging onto the first few rocks I saw on the wall.
I had done a bit of climbing in my past life at those "climb-walls" that we would find at theme parks or carnivals, but this was on a completely different level.
The surface was slippery, and the rain was so overwhelming that it felt as if I was drowning sometimes.
Still, I took my time and used my hand to pull slightly on the different rocks I could grab, checking for their sturdiness since some of them were very loose and would crumble with a simple tug.
