My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World -
Chapter 330: Guanghua Festival
Chapter 330: Guanghua Festival
A few days passed, and the festival had arrived in the Guanghua Capital.
Before we traveled to this country, we had left several magic quartz in all of the nations that we visited previously, and they were all linked to different cities or countries.
To help with the food and drinks that would be served on the streets, we ended up hiring a bunch of street vendors from Sephyr, Droman, and Aridonia, who happily used the magic quartz to travel there and do business.
Every single royal family made an appearance at the palace.
Melina’s parents were there, along with Alexandra, her little sister, who was a few years older than Leslie.
Funnily enough, as soon as Leslie saw Alexandra’s features that resembled Melina’s, she also started calling her big sister.
Empress Lysandra from the Droman Empire was also there with her two siblings, along with Harun, the sultan of Aridonia, who had brought his five wives and children to the party.
The beastkin rulers of Kalusia, Queen Garra and King Dente, made an appearance, too, which was lucky for us as they had installed the magic quartz in their country not that long ago.
Yuki and her family from Kyotora also visited, except for her older brother, who was apparently still being punished for his horrible actions.
The sages from the mage’s tower arrived with the chief of the elves and Princess Eve, who ran to hug Melina as soon as she arrived.
During the party, I was talking with Darius, my brother-in-law, and with Acalan, the phoenix from Kalusia.
I think the alcohol was making me talk a little too much, and I ended up telling them about the future that Sage Astra saw, where a massive war was taking place against an army of demons.
Of course, they took my words seriously, and they told me that they had been preparing for that for some time, which made me a little confused.
Darius was too drunk to explain, so Acalan went ahead and said that they had all received messages from the Mages’ Tower mentioning the war to come.
I remembered Astra saying something about warning the other nations, but I didn’t know that she had gone ahead and told them already.
’Could it be that we don’t have much time?’ I pondered.
The rest of the festival was a success, with the people on the streets having bright smiles on their faces as they walked around the different stalls offering food and drinks.
The alcohol was making me want to step away from the crowd for a moment, so I went outside to sit at the top of the palace’s roof. However, before I could fly up, I saw Leslie and Yujun following me and asking me to take them with me.
I picked up the two kids and flew up to the roof, where we sat down and looked at the city’s festival from above, which looked quite pretty with all the lights illuminating the streets.
"Big brother... Thank you for everything..." said Leslie with a sad tone as she hugged my right arm.
Simultaneously, Yujun grabbed and hugged my left arm with apprehension, almost as if he didn’t want to let me go.
"You guys were so strong and brave. I’m proud of the two of you..." I said, patting their heads gently.
"Maybe if I had come a bit sooner..." I continued, but I felt Leslie’s small hands shutting my lips close.
"You came here anyways, and you fulfilled your promise!" she exclaimed, locking her determined eyes with mine.
"D-do you have to leave?" Yujun asked, his voice sounding like he was about to break into tears.
"I do, but not forever. I will come to visit you guys any time I can..." I said.
"You promise?" the two asked in unison.
"Mhmm, I promise. Once the entire world is free from the devils, how about we all travel together?" I asked the kids.
The two gave me the brightest smile they could muster and hugged me even tighter.
"If you promise, then we’ll believe you..." said Leslie with her voice muffled by my clothes.
The festival lasted for three whole days, although the royal families left after the first night as they were all busy with the affairs of their nations.
Melina and I were thinking about our next destination, and we discussed it with Jackson and Karla after they told us they were going to the Northern Empire.
The devil called Baelzor had the north in a position similar to Guanghua with Vyrazul, but apparently, his tyranny wasn’t a secret like it was here.
Magnus and Bjorn, the two warriors we saved who were originally from the north, told us that their emperor went completely crazy one day and started killing people all over the country without reason.
However, Jackson told us that Baelzor didn’t have shapeshifting powers like Vyrazul, but he was able to control the minds of weak-willed individuals.
The warriors explained that they believed that Baelzor was killing the people who were strong enough to resist his mind control, which was the same reason they were captured and sold as slaves.
We had one problem, though, and it was that both of the relics we were missing for the world’s titan were in different places, and none of them was from the northern empire.
The longer we waited to take down Baelzor, the more the people in the north would suffer, so we didn’t want to spend a long time traveling.
Luckily for us, Sage Devon said that he would leave a couple of magic quartz at Vista when he left Guanghua, so we would be able to travel there quickly as soon as he was done.
Yuki was in Kyotora, which was the closest nation to Lotus, and she sent a group of soldiers to give Keiko and her family a couple of magic quartz for us to get there quickly.
"Hmm, if we skip the travel time, we could gather the relics and get to the northern empire relatively fast..." I pondered out loud.
We had half of the Dawn’s Defenders there, so when Jackson and Karla said they were going north for their next destination, I sent them a voice message so that they could help each other.
One day, after Jackson and Karla left Guanghua on a boat, it was time for Melina and I to say our goodbyes to the people there.
Yujun and Leslie cried quite a bit, so we reminded them of our promise and asked them to wait for us, as we would return no matter what.
The former Empress Chunhua even told me that her offer to adopt me was still on the table, which was flattering, but I couldn’t accept.
Turning around and giving one last glance at the people we saved all gathered in the palace to see us off, we touched the magic quartz that would send us to our next destination—the nation of Lotus.
