My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World -
Chapter 228: Magic Quartz
Chapter 228: Magic Quartz
After giving my angry speech, Hiroshi started to lose his patience and grinned his teeth but stayed silent.
"The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Did you think that after I saw your son Takeo beating up women and ordering to lash them, I would think that you were any different?" I said.
"No, King Hiroshi, he learned that from you..." I continued, slowly approaching his throne that was up a short staircase.
As I stood before the king, who stayed seated on his throne, and Lang, who was standing next to him, I gazed at Hiroshi’s eyes with intensity.
It was one of those moments where I had to become the villain if I wanted good things to happen.
The king was obviously trying to portray himself as a nice person, so I wanted him to show me his true colors.
"I still have a deal I want to make with you guys, so I’m willing to overlook this discussion for today..." I said with a serious tone.
Lang and the king seemed curious, even when they were still feeling the sting from my previous words.
"I would like two of those magic quartz that Sage Lang used on the tournament..." I said.
During the World Tournament, Lang cast a spell on these large white crystals that made them transmit the live battles to other countries. However, the transmission wasn’t the power of the crystal but Lang’s own spell.
That led me to believe that I could use those same magic quartz and cast a teleportation enchantment on them.
The Sephyr Kingdom was on the western continent, so it wasn’t really possible for me to teleport there with a single spell.
However, if I could enchant those magic quartz and place them in both countries, we would have a quick travel between continents.
I was planning on revisiting the eastern continent after Melina’s graduation, but it would be much better if we could skip the entire travel and just get there instantly.
After I explained to Lang and the king what I was planning on doing, they looked at each other and nodded in agreement.
Apparently, Kyotora had a huge mine of magic quartz, so it wasn’t a rare mineral for them to get.
"This could greatly improve the trade between our nations..." Lang commented, thinking of the possibilities.
Once our deal had been finalized, I told the king that I would be visiting again and that I expected to see a change in the way he handled things in his palace.
Hiroshi was visibly annoyed by my words and reluctantly stood up from his seat, giving me a slight bow.
’Woah, a king bowing his head!?’ I thought.
"I will try my best to fix my mistakes..." he muttered.
His words sounded genuine, so I accepted them. "Good. Stop tainting the legacy of your founder..." I said.
As Lang started to escort Melina and me out of the room, I looked back at the king once again.
"Oh, and if the next time I come here, I see any citizen being lashed, I will bring down this entire palace..." I said with a threatening tone that left the king frozen in fear.
’I’m pretty sure Kyoko wanted none of that in her nation...’ I thought.
After we left the throne room, Lang guided us to a workshop that was inside the palace’s walls.
"This is the palace’s magic workshop. Most of the relics that are used in our nation are created here..." Sage Lang explained.
At the back of the room, there was a warehouse with a large number of magic quartz stored in piles, leaving me somewhat perplexed since I thought it would be a bit harder to come by.
Still, I had to create the enchantment for teleportation and connect it between two crystals, which I had never done before.
Not wanting to waste any time, Melina and I started working on the magic quartz enchantment for hours without stopping.
When we were done with the spell, we noticed that it was very late at night, so we returned to our rooms at the Ryuken Arena to get some sleep.
The following day, which was our last, we went to the workshop first thing in the morning and took the two crystals we had been working on the entire night for testing.
Each crystal was around the size of my torso, so I had to hug it with both arms to hold it. Still, they weren’t as heavy as I expected.
After taking one with me and flying to the other side of the city, I placed the crystal down on the ground and sent a telepathic message to Vespera, who was standing with Melina at the workshop with the other crystal.
[I’ll try teleporting there first. Careful not to get too close...] I said to my companion in my head.
As I gently added a bit of MP into the crystal, it suddenly glowed and activated, making me close my eyes so I wouldn’t get blinded.
When I opened them again, I was inside the workshop with Melina and Vespera, who were smiling heartily, realizing that our experiment had been a success.
"Now all we gotta do is take one of these back to Sephyr, and we will have an instant transportation method between continents..." I said, feeling satisfied with the results.
"Hmm, but where do we leave the one that stays here?" Melina pondered.
It was a good question. I didn’t really want to leave it inside the palace since I didn’t trust the king and the queen, but we also couldn’t just leave it in a random place for anyone to find.
While pondering different options, Melina’s light bulb on top of her head lit up.
"What if we just make a place of our own!?" she asked enthusiastically.
I thought about it for a few seconds and decided to go for it. "This is our last day here, so we gotta make it quick..." I said.
We flew to a spot on the outskirts of the city, away from prying eyes, and atop a small hill that would be almost impossible to climb without flying.
"Yes, this is perfect..." I thought out loud, promptly starting the construction of our tiny new home.
