My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World
Chapter 226: Kyotora’s Secret Library

Chapter 226: Kyotora’s Secret Library

Sage Lang kept guiding me and Melina through the palace until we reached the set of stairs that led to a room inside the mountain.

Inside, Lang lit up a few torches to illuminate the room, which had rocky walls that resembled a cave.

There were wooden bookshelves around us filled with papyrus documents and a few books gathering dust.

"They call this room the secret library, but nobody ever uses it as such..." said Lang.

He explained that it was a room created when the palace was first built, saying that it supposedly was a request from the founder of Kyotora, where she kept important documents.

Lang explained that the scriptures the king mentioned were a set of rules that had been passed down ever since the foundation of the country.

Apparently, the unknown founder wrote them in a language that nobody in the world could read.

However, she had translated some of the scriptures herself, which were the ones that they could read nowadays.

"We don’t know why the founder didn’t translate the rest for us or why she even wrote them in that language..." Lang continued.

"Do you mind if I take a peek?" I asked the sage, who extended his arm as if giving me permission.

When I grabbed one of the dusty documents and rolled it open, my suspicions were confirmed, noticing that it was written in English.

Not only that, but the author had signed most of the documents with her name at the bottom, reading "Kyoko" in Japanese letters.

’Hmm, my suspicions were correct... Seems like Kyoko was the founder of this place...’ I thought.

Ever since we arrived at Kyotora, it was obvious that someone of Japanese descent had something to do with the culture it developed.

It wasn’t too far-fetched for me to think that since Kalusia and Vista were nations founded by other reincarnations. Nonetheless, Kyoko was still the most mysterious one for me.

Alejandro left incomplete puzzles and clues, Giuseppe cared mostly about recording the world’s history, and Kyoko focused on passing down her magic spells.

For that reason, Kyoko was the past reincarnator that I knew the least about.

When Lang saw that I was leisurely reading the documents, he widened his eyes with surprise.

"Can you really read the scriptures?" he asked.

"Oh, ummm... Yes. But let’s keep this between us." I replied.

Sage Lang looked confused and turned to look at Melina, only to find her also reading the documents with ease.

"But, how? That language should be impossible for anyone in this world to decipher..." the old sage asked, still perplexed.

The only people who knew I came from another world were Jackson, Yoru, and Vespera. Not even Gina knew about it.

I thought about telling Headmaster Devon back in Sephyr, but I never had the right opportunity to do so.

Still, I truly believed that sages could be of great help if they knew about our situation, so I started to consider telling Sage Lang about it.

"I’ll explain later. For now, let me take a look at these documents..." I said to Lang, who stood at the entrance of the room.

While going through all the writings that Kyoko had left, I noticed that a lot of them were just records of stuff being built or completed.

For example, one of the documents talked about the creation of the Ryuken Arena and how she was the one to come up with the design for the building.

It was interesting to read, sure, but it wasn’t the type of information I was looking for from the past reincarnators.

"Hey, Ichi. Look at this..." Melina said, beckoning me to approach her.

"This person here is talking about moon and sun magic, right?" she asked, showing me a document.

"Oh, well. She was the one who invented it, so it makes sense that she talks about it somewhere else..." I said.

I told Melina that I had gotten a book at Sephyr Kingdom that was written by the same person who had left all these documents in Kyotora, leaving her somewhat surprised that one of her books managed to reach there.

When I got a small book from the shelf, I noticed it was a diary for Kyoko’s travels, which instantly caught my attention.

As far as I knew, Kyoko was the last person to come here from our world before me and Melina.

Even if there had been another one between us, I still hadn’t found any records of them. However, that also meant that the information Kyoko collected about the world was more accurate for us.

Funnily enough, she talked about visiting a temple in the jungle where she found a bracelet artifact and complained that Alejandro didn’t leave a manual behind.

’Yes, exactly! I thought the same thing...’

She also mentioned the Aridonia Kingdom in the desert and the Droman Empire, stating that it was still a small nation, but she believed that it had the potential to become a great empire.

’She was right. The Droman Empire is indeed huge...’

Kyoko praised Giuseppe for the work he did in Vista and Balinesia, which was a bit confusing to me since I thought he only helped with the creation of one.

Still, when I kept reading, I noticed that Giuseppe was one of the sages who helped in the creation of the mage’s tower in Balinesia and even became the first Tower Headmaster.

She then moved on to talk about Eldariel, the elves nation, and the Lunar Forest that she had to cross to get there.

Apparently, when Kyoko first arrived, slavery was prevalent in every country in the world, so the elves didn’t act friendly with her at first, as they were the main targets for enslavers.

Nonetheless, Kyoko abolished slavery in every single nation and gained the favor of the elves, which made me impressed but somewhat sad.

’All that work, only for some countries to go back to their old ways...’ I thought.

At the end of the Eldariel Chapter, she wrote a "secret password."

"If you can read this, then you are like me..." it said at the start, which was similar to how her magic book started.

"In the case that the elves isolated themselves again, use the words ’Quendalas, Edraith.’"

’That sounds like it will come in very handy...’ I thought, thanking Kyoko in my head for actually being useful to us and leaving detailed information, unlike a certain first reincarnator who thought it would be funny to leave riddles and puzzles.
