My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World
Chapter 207: Bracelet Relic

Chapter 207: Bracelet Relic

While checking out the new potions that Reinar and Jen had brewed, I remembered there was something else I wanted them to look at.

Opening my void pocket, I took out the bracelet that we had taken from the ancient temple in the jungle and showed them the obsidian arrow dangling from it.

"Hmm? What’s this?" Reinar asked as he held the bracelet closer.

"We found it inside an ancient temple in the jungle... Well, more like it was given to us..." I replied, telling them the story of how we came across the supposed relic.

Reinar and Jen seemed excited about learning more about the bracelet, but as they inspected it, they noticed that no information was coming up.

"Are you sure this is a relic?" Jen asked, raising an eyebrow.

"We were told it was..." I said, scratching the back of my head awkwardly.

Jen went on to explain that people were usually able to use their "Inspect" spell on relics to read their effects. However, for some reason, nothing popped up whenever we inspected the bracelet.

We even tried to inspect the obsidian arrow to see if we could find out what material it was made of, but alas, it was in vain.

The two alchemists asked me for more details about the temple, thinking that the clues on how to make the relic work were hidden there.

Nonetheless, I had to think carefully about what to say to them since they didn’t know that I had been reincarnated here.

Leaving those details aside, I explained that Alejandro was the man who had founded the country of Kalusia over a thousand years ago, and he had been the one to leave the relic there.

"When Melina and I opened the door, the chief of the beastkins told us to grab the relic, but he didn’t know how it worked either..." I kept elaborating.

The two alchemists kept inspecting the bracelet for some time, but seeing that they weren’t getting any information from it, they slowly started to lose interest in it.

"Maybe you should just wear it..." Reinar said.

"Just like that?" I asked, wondering if it would be fine.

"Well, we won’t know its effects until it does something. If you keep it inside your void pocket the whole time, then how do you know it’s not doing anything?" he asked.

’That’s a good point...’ I thought.

Agreeing with his idea, I decided to wear the bracelet for the time being and met with the rest of the group, who were outside the tree house hanging out.

"Professor Ichiro, d-did you really grow up here?" Keiko asked as I left the tree house, making the other students turn to hear my answer.

"Yeah, sort of..." I said with an awkward smile.

"I see. Your parents must have been strong to be able to raise you here without troubles..." the blue-haired girl continued.

’Parents...?’ I thought.

The only memories I had of my real parents were my dad beating us and my mom blaming me for it, which made me instinctively frown with anger and sadness.

"Ah, I mean..." Keiko tried to elaborate but was cut off by Melina, who heard the awkward question with the rest of the students and diverted their attention towards the outside jacuzzi.

’Heh, thanks, Mel...’ I thought after she had saved me the trouble of answering a difficult question.

It wasn’t the first time that someone asked me about my parents, but anytime they did, I never had a single good thing to say about them.

When I first met the king and queen of Sephyr, they inquired about my parents’ whereabouts, but when I stayed silent, they moved on to another topic without prying any longer.

Melina had never even mentioned them to me, which I didn’t know if it was because her parents told her not to bring it up or if she could just read me like an open book and understand that it wasn’t something I wanted to talk about.

As the rest of the group kept walking around the area, the green-haired guy named Luca approached me.

"Hey, umm... Professor Ichiro..." he muttered.

"What’s up? Also, you don’t have to call me ’professor’ outside the academy. We are the same age, you know?" I said with a friendly tone.

"I just wanted to thank you. For saving my sister at the hunting exam..." he continued, looking down with a bit of embarrassment.

Florencia and Luca were twin siblings, and they were both the prince and princess of Vista, but that wasn’t the reason I saved her. I would have done the same for any other student.

"Don’t worry about it. My job was to keep the students safe..." I replied.

Still, Luca seemed to be holding something back as he clenched his fists with frustration.

"Back then, I couldn’t do anything against the werewolf..." he muttered before grinding his teeth.

The prince of Vista was feeling frustrated and depressed at the fact that he couldn’t hold himself against an S-ranked monster and had to rely on their teacher to finish off the beast.

I had seen Luca in my lessons trying his best to become stronger and learn more magic, so I tried to console him and explained that he would definitely be able to take on those kinds of monsters soon.

"As long as you keep practicing what I teach you, I promise those werewolves will be no match for you in the future..." I continued, placing a hand on his shoulder for reassurance.

That same day, we threw a large barbeque for everyone present at End Forest and stayed there until nighttime, when Melina and I teleported everyone back to the academy grounds.

As everyone scattered to go to their rooms, Melina grabbed me by the arm for a moment.

"You are wearing the relic?" she asked as she looked at the bracelet around my wrist.

"Reinar said it would be a good idea to see if it reacted to something..." I replied.

With an understanding smile, she pulled my arm closer and gave me a hug, gently posing her head against my chest as her arms wrapped around my torso.

’I think she still feels bad about the comment Keiko made about my parents...’ I thought, making me smile as I embraced the princess’ shoulders.
