Chapter 91: Chapter 91- A Smart prey

A tall building stood near Station Kael, its rooftop open to the strong morning wind. A woman stood at the edge, holding a long stick in one hand. Her black robe fluttered behind her.

A silver mask covered her face, hiding her expression.

Behind her stood five men. Each held a long, rod-shaped weapon, their eyes fixed on the tracks below. The sound of an approaching train echoed in the air.

"Get ready. Stop that train. No one gets off." She raised her hand, the coldness in her eyes clearly visible through the mask—silvery like a gem reflecting the light outside.

"What about you, Commander?" One of the men stepped forward, unsure.

They were among the few loyal to her, but for the past few days, there had been a noticeable change in the commander—who, after leading the front lines, had returned to the city. Clearly, she was interested in targeting a particular family. Especially the heir of the Blac family.

It had become obvious to most of them. They had been ordered to collect information about that man—his activities, daily life, every little thing. And the events he was involved in made it clear: their commander was after him.

But the question was, why? Especially when she had been engaged in conflict at the border zones. She shouldn’t have even known someone like Cruxius Blac personally.

"I’m going to meet that man."

Given their loyalty, she at least mustered herself to give them a direct answer before clearly taking a stance to leap from the building.

The man frowned. "Wouldn’t he be on that train?"

"Do your job." Her voice cut through the air, sharp and final, rejecting any further inquiry. Then she jumped.

More like a gliding squirrel, her coat stretched open. With the wind’s resistance, she glided directly toward the railway tracks—toward a train moving at a calculated speed, just enough to make her landing safe.

The dare was clear. Even though the track was in Zone Seven, it wasn’t the train at Station Kael. Instead, it was another train. A train booked by that man.

’Cruxius Blac...’

The name crossed her mind. Her eyes tightened as memories clicked into place—memories she’d thought were long forgotten. The frustration of dying alone... when all she ever wanted was for him to die with her. The wind brushed past her mask.

After opening her eyes, her sole goal was to deal with—or at the very least die alongside—that man.

And to do that, she needed time. Preparation. Especially considering she’d been imprisoned by the higher-ups of the Blac Corporation.

Cruxius was practically untouchable. And the consequences of laying a finger on him? Possibly too heavy for someone like her, a mere soldier.

So, she planned. She gathered information about Cruxius’s movements.

Including how Cruxius instincts had changed drastically after being attacked by a hero. So much so, he had begun openly targeting the Hero Association. That trait alone made him useful to her.

It was the perfect time for horror. Even if Cruxius were killed, the blame would most likely fall on the Hero Association.

And more than anything else—she would become one with him.

A love that lives on after death.

She had spent 1,789 years in soul form—alone—before finally getting a chance to be with her dear... So this time, she would make sure to die together.

"He must have booked this train to fool others..."

Finally, the train came into her line of sight. She landed on it with a backflip, hitting the hard surface. She controlled her momentum as the train sped forward, thirty miles per hour beneath her feet.

She stood, balanced.

"Hm."

Silence lingered in her mind. She thought back to how she reached this point—by realizing Cruxius’s main objective had always been to target the nerve between the Hero Association and the Villain Syndicate’s Zone Seven.

By using another train carrying gene serums as bait—it was all too convenient. Especially the way Cruxius received a call during the press conference with precise details.

He wanted to bait villains—ones he had already replaced with her men—into looting the gene serum.

And of course, Cruxius wouldn’t risk his own life being on that decoy train.

But she had tracked him. She had found that on the same day, at the same time, he had booked another train.

This train.

And when the battle began, he’d portray it as if he had barely survived the collateral damage. As if the attack had been directed at him.

Cruxius was smart.

But she was smarter.

And this time, she was in his path.

She had seen through his deception.

Swiftly, she leapt forward and kicked open the train door, entering.

"I’ll be able to deal with Dari—" she began.

BOOOOM!

A deafening explosion.

The train derailed with a violent blast, sending the woman flying. Her eyes flared, mask cracked, body burned. The force of the blast hurled her back before she slammed into the ground.

She tried to lift herself. Tried to make sense of what had just happened.

But her mind was blank. Empty.

Had she fallen into a trap?

And then—

A small tape recorder, still intact in the wrecked space of the train, clicked on.

Though the train had derailed, through the crumbled walls and smoke, an announcement echoed—

⋮⋮ Aww, what happened, princess? ⋮⋮

’!’

The moment the audio played, just a small sentence was enough to make her whole body flinch, clearly recognizing the chill in the voice—mocking her with the same tone and using the same title he always called her by.

⋮⋮ All that big brain bullshit got you crawling like a bitch in heat. You thought you were five moves ahead—turns out you were just dancing to my leash. That’s the thing about self-proclaimed geniuses... they’re just arrogant little puppets begging to be outplayed. ⋮⋮

"Y-you, you are mine, Cruxius! Did you hear me?!"

In the heat of the moment, she lost all composure. Her wounds were still regenerating, but the anger burned hotter, far too intense for her body to withstand. She yelled out, clearly clenching the metal beneath her feet.

⋮⋮ And you? All brains, no bite—just another cocky cunt begging to be humbled. ⋮⋮
