Chapter 47: Chapter 47- Alvian’s Luck

"Have you seen this morning’s events?" one of the nurses inquired as both of them, holding a tray with surgical equipment, made their way toward the lift.

Their eyes were clearly filled with gossip and curiosity as one of them mentioned the events of the morning.

"You mean the heir of the Blac family hitting the Dean?" As if the whole event had circulated among everyone equally, the other nurse was well aware of it and immediately recognized the event she was talking about.

With an affirmative nod toward each other, both arrived outside the lift, whose doors slowly slid open.

’!’

"Oh, h-hello," one of them gasped, looking ahead at a handsome man wearing a shirt with his suit draped over his shoulder, looking at them with a smile that, rather than genuine, carried a hint of flirtation as he gazed down at the tray in their hands.

"Nice to meet you," Cruxius said as he moved, exiting the lift. He reached toward the tray and lifted a small surgical knife that resembled a blade.

He winked, and his breath brushed against the neck of the nurse, who momentarily met his gaze.

"W-wait, that is—" The other person was about to call out to the man, whose back was now turned toward them as he distanced himself, waving casually, as if trying to act like the protagonist of some story moving away from an explosion.

However, before she could finish her words, she was interrupted by her fellow, who seemed completely mesmerized by the man’s charm.

Naturally, he was undeniably handsome, but not someone who would make them lose their minds or anything.

"Stop, do you even know who he is?" The nurse, clearly in a trance, was taken aback the moment the man left and instantly stopped her fellow, even though she herself had seen him take a blade from the tray.

"What? Who is he?" The other one, glancing in the direction where the man had turned down the hallway and disappeared, looked back at her, inquiring with a raised brow.

"He is the heir of the Blac family!" the nurse stated loudly just as the doors of the lift they had entered closed.

As the doors finally shut, an exclamation resonated—

"What?! But why did he go towards the Dean’s office—"

---

Inside the Dean’s office, the air was suffocating with rage.

Dean Alvian sat, the veins in his neck pulsing, shouting into the speakerphone—the oldest technology, so it remained untraceable and could not be recorded.

"I’m offering ten million upfront! Kill the heir of the Blac family! Are you interested—"

—Click.

The line went dead.

Teeth gritted, nostrils flaring, he punched another number with frantic fingers.

"Listen, it’s Dean Alvian! Triple your usual rate, no negotiations! Just kill the Blac heir—"

—Click.

Disconnected again. Instantly.

His fingers slammed the dial pad again and again, each call faster, each rejection colder, more humiliating.

"Goddamn cowards!" he spat, slamming the receiver into the cradle, only to pick it up again.

Another call. Another supervillain.

"Listen, you greedy son of a bitch, there’s millions in it for you! Take out that little—"

The voice on the other end interrupted him before he could finish, almost laughing.

// You’re already dead, Alvian. //

Click.

Silence.

’...what?’

Dean staggered backward slowly, standing from his chair as he heard the highest-ranking one he knew saying that Alvian was already dead, his chest heaving.

His hands trembled with a mix of desperation and humiliation.

There was something wrong, as the supervillains who held powers were unable to kill a simple mortal. He looked at one of his secretaries standing at the front, trembling with a bowed head, along with others.

"Tch, leave it, just tell me why you are here?" Alvian said, stopping the secretary from speaking earlier so as not to disturb him while he contacted the supervillains to whom he could give a contract to kill Cruxius Blac.

Controlling his anger, he now tried to listen to the information the secretary had brought.

Maybe it would calm his flaring anger a bit.

"Dean... the Blac family has started. Our subsidiaries, our holdings—they’re already being targeted. We are finished," the secretary, with his head down, stated clearly, trembling since the morning when the news of the Blac family’s heir hitting the Dean of the hospital went wild. Instantly, without even asking for any explanation, the Blac family had started to boycott and target them as a whole.

’!?’

A vein popped on Dean’s forehead.

"So don’t tell me it was just about a DAMN PUNCH!"

He screamed, a guttural roar, slamming both fists onto the desk hard enough to make the whole office shudder.

He howled, grabbing the phone and hurling it across the room.

It shattered against the wall in a spray of plastic and metal.

"ALL OF YOU!" he barked at the terrified secretaries standing at the door. "GET OUT! NOW!"

They scrambled out, nearly tripping over themselves, yanking the heavy oak door closed—

—but it never fully shut.

Thunk

A black boot caught it mid-swing.

The door creaked back open slowly, revealing a man—

wearing a white shirt, hair of raven black with a white strand, eyes narrowed; the suit draped on his shoulder, casually holding a blade in his hand, moving it as he looked toward Alvian, whose eyes visibly widened.

Cruxius, with a smirk, said, "May I come in, Mr. Alvian?"

The sudden, almost polite voice chilled the air more than any roar of rage could.

Alvian stumbled a step back, his mind racing. His heart thudded painfully against his ribs.

He knew he had no chance now—not after the supervillains refused, not after the secretary’s report, not after this man walked in with such terrifying calm.

"You—!" Alvian screamed, veins bulging on his forehead as his anger spiked in a desperate attempt to hide his fear. "You think you can walk in here and—!"

He didn’t finish. His pride wouldn’t let him.

Alvian charged forward with a roar, fists balled tight, teeth gritted.

"I will kill you with my own hands! Bastard—!"
