Chapter 100: Chapter 100 - Hospital Arrival
Hospital Wing – Level 5 | Ten Minutes After the Train Incident
The glass doors slid open with a whisper, ushering in the trio with a rush of cold night air.
Cruxius walked in the middle—composed, pale, but the same composed presence. His steps were steady, posture unyielding, even as two women flanked him like contrasts to his composure.
Darithi clung to his left, eyes wide, every breath a silent scream. "Master, you need to sit," she begged, half-dragging him toward the reception desk. "You have been bitten by that woman—we don’t know what she did to you. It could be poison. Neurotoxin. Something arcane—"
"I’m aware," Cruxius murmured, glancing at her but not slowing as things were unexpectedly fast; he did not expect someone from royal lineage to make a move against him. "I said I’m fine."
No, he could feel that it was not someone from the royal lineage targeting him for something else, but their target was in particular bleeding without knowing his identity.
And that vampire, while attacking him, kept mentioning the name of a queen behind her, clearly making him guess who that queen might be.
However, he also knew that the chances of her being really aware of him were slim. If they were true, then he wouldn’t be alive until now, or at least she herself would have shown.
So, at least she wasn’t freed from the necklace.
He had time, but now, due to such variables occurring, things took a very bad turn given he used the serum to break the seal on him, which revealed his identity as the son of one of the royal princesses of the Bloodmoon Clan.
Of course, Cruxius wasn’t a vampire, not in the literal sense, but he had a blood type that was poison to lower vampires and an aphrodisiac to higher ones.
Kind of things he came to know in later years after the revelation of the vampires, where, after nearly being killed by one of the women who tried to drink his blood, he saw her dying after experiencing ecstasy.
At that time, the same thing had happened where he needed to lift the seal of his body, which was a seal placed on him by the rulers—the honors and authority to give decree and judgment to the vampire clan—after they killed his mother, or in simple terms, gave her the punishment of execution for giving birth to a lowborn.
The issue was simply that his mother was strong enough to go against the rulers, prompting them to use strategy over strength and make her bow and take the oath to destroy her blood core and die in exchange for her child’s life, or else they would wait until she weakened and kill him in the future.
The choice was clear, and she just did that.
They executed Cruxius’s mother in front of him before sealing off his memories as well as removing any essence of mention of his mother from his mind using a curse.
He was angry but... not strong enough yet to act recklessly given he did try to do that only to restart at some point in life.
"You are not!" Darithi snapped, louder this time, shocking even herself. "Your skin’s going cold, your pulse is fading, and that thing left marks on you. Master, let me call—"
"Silence, Darithi." His voice wasn’t raised, but the pressure in it shut her down instantly, her spine stiffening like a scolded animal.
On his right, Ytrisia kept pace, but her arms were folded tightly across her chest, chin tilted up in a poor disguise of emotional detachment. She glanced at his collar, then quickly looked away. "Cruxius," she said, voice low and clipped. "I think she bit you. That thing. Was it... intentional?"
Cruxius only smirked faintly. "Wouldn’t you like to know?"
The sarcasm stung. She looked away again.
At the nurse station, staff rose from their seats as if recognizing the status of these people. One reached for a wheelchair.
"No," Cruxius said. His tone allowed no argument.
"We need a private room," Darithi said at once, her formality snapping back. "Full security protocols."
"Top floor," Ytrisia added, stealing a glance at his face. "I want heart monitors, venom scans, all of it. He’s not safe."
"Be calm," Cruxius drawled, brushing a hand over his neck. The blood had stopped, but the faint twin puncture wounds remained—a vampire’s kiss, or a curse’s brand. "And again, I’m fine."
Ytrisia took a step forward. Considering the way Cruxius seemed uncaring about his health, she knew that somehow she needed to inform the main family about this event at all costs. "I’ll call the butler."
Cruxius halted mid-motion, his gaze sharp.
"No." His voice was curt, decisive—almost too sudden.
She blinked, confused.
Then he frowned, a thought flickering sharp behind his eyes—No, he needed him here.
Not exactly the butler, but the one who was training under him. Given that he was now in the hospital, it was better to use this opportunity to his advantage.
"...Dial it," he said with a smile forming; even in this urgency, he found an opportunity. "Be urgent."
Ytrisia didn’t question. The tone in his voice had shifted again—Even though there was a smile, his voice was tight, not from pain but from something deeper.
She dialed.
Cruxius turned slightly, head angling toward Darithi. "Call Dr. Seleyena."
Darithi’s brows furrowed. "Dr. Seleyena? But she... she’s not—she can’t help with this, Master. She is a gynae—"
"She can," Cruxius interrupted, gaze unmoving. "Maybe no one else can help better than her."
Darithi opened her mouth to speak again—but stopped.
She had to follow his orders, and she did. She moved to call Dr. Seleyena to inform her about the present condition of Cruxius, even though the chances of her arrival were very low, given what her master had done to her last time.
’Seleyena will definitely arrive,’ Cruxius on the other hand was more than sure that Selina would come.
Given that night, being enough to steer her to some extent, especially considering how she, even being so mature, preserved her chastity, it only meant she valued it.
And will also value the call of the man who took her virginity.
So, yeah, now what left was for him to deal with her heart and then Thalia’s today.
Who knows when he will get busier.
