MY Masochistic CEO -
Chapter 28 unexpected offer
Chapter 28: Chapter 28 unexpected offer
As a newcomer in the professional sphere, I was gradually learning that if you lacked ability, you could still survive on the art of bluffing.
However, during my days of relentless exploitation in the marketing department, such a concept was far from my consciousness.
Now, the circumstances had changed. I found myself standing before an influential vice president, who also happened to be a striking beauty. Naturally, I was inclined to ingratiate myself.
A sense of urgency was beginning to stir within me. Once this project concluded, I was certain that Jessica would make her move against me, unless I managed to secure another deal worth tens of millions - a prospect that seemed highly improbable.
However, if I could win Tatiana as an ally, even Jessica would be forced to reconsider her strategies.
The corporate landscape is akin to a battlefield, where choosing your allies wisely is of paramount importance.
"You certainly have a knack for eloquence," Tatiana remarked, her lips curving into a smile. "But being articulate is a virtue clients appreciate it too."
"Thank you for your kind words," I responded.
"Walker Company is a significant client. It’s crucial to maintain a positive relationship with them. I’ve heard that you have a personal rapport with the president of Walker Company; that’s a valuable asset. You need to leverage it effectively!" I nodded in agreement, realizing that her summons had been about more than just commendation; there was another motive at play.
"Do you know about Marquesa Vines company?" she inquired.
"I do," I replied.
Marquesa Vines company was a renowned winery in Sevan, specializing in wine, with a market value exceeding one hundred million dollars. Their advertising campaigns had been ubiquitous over the past two years.
’To become beautiful, drink Marquesa Vines’ - that was Marquesa Vines company’s catchy slogan.
Even a teetotaler like me was familiar with it.
"Did you know that Mr. Jefferson from Marquesa Vines company is a close acquaintance of Edward?" she asked.
I hadn’t known Edward for long, how could I possibly be privy to such details? Suddenly, Tatiana’s intentions became clear.
After a moment of contemplation, I responded, "I’ve heard him mention it."
If I had simply denied it, my worth in Tatiana’s eyes would have plummeted. Besides, this harmless lie wouldn’t be verified; she couldn’t possibly cross-check with Edward whether he had indeed shared this information with me.
As expected, Tatiana’s expression softened.
"It appears you share a close bond with him; he’s even comfortable discussing his social circle with you," she observed.
"Marquesa Vines company has been on a rapid growth trajectory over the past two years, expanding at an impressive rate. I’ve heard they plan to rival established wine brands this year, hence their advertising budget is quite substantial. There are whispers within their company that they plan to allocate around ten million dollars towards advertising!"
I was taken aback. Ten million dollars! Was Marquesa Vines company really that wealthy?
Noticing my astonishment, Tatiana elaborated, "Fast-moving consumer goods differ from other products. They yield high profits, primarily relying on reputation, which is starkly different from manufacturing. If they don’t invest money, they risk being forgotten by consumers!"
"You have a connection with Walker Company. If you play your cards right, you might secure a lucrative contract from Marquesa Vines company. Even if Marquesa Vines company doesn’t invest their entire budget with us, they will certainly allocate a portion. The exact amount, however, is up to you."
"Miss Camille, I will certainly strive for it, but I can’t make any guarantees!" I confessed.
Truth be told, I had no confidence. I had just secured a six million dollar deal from Edward, and it hadn’t even started yet. Was I supposed to ask him to help me secure another introduction?
What would Edward’s reaction be? He might agree out of gratitude and to save face, but after this, he would certainly sever ties with me.
Even a fool understood the importance of making wise choices.
"Hmm, do your best. If you manage to secure the contract from Marquesa Vines company, I’ll promote you to a managerial position!" she declared.
Unlike Jessica’s hollow promises, Tatiana’s words were assertive and carried a sense of conviction. She indeed had that right.
The choice between the roles of deputy manager and manager was, without a doubt, inclined towards the latter.
Upon departing the office, my thoughts were preoccupied with the challenge of securing the deal with Marquesa Vines company. The idea of reaching out to Edward was swiftly dismissed, and a direct visit to their premises? I’d likely be escorted out by security before I could utter a word.
Such a predicament!
"William!"
The sudden call from Melody disrupted my thoughts.
"Melody, what can I do for you?" I asked.
"If you’re planning a visit to Marquesa Vines company, might I... accompany you?" she asked.
I was taken aback.
Accompany me?
"It’s not what you’re thinking. I’m merely concerned that you might struggle to secure the deal. I believe I could negotiate better terms!"
she explained.
