My five ghostly husbands -
Chapter 161 Busy days
Chapter 161: Chapter 161 Busy days
But then, he suddenly pouted again, crossing his arms. "But I am unhappy... I have no one to watch Soulstream with me! I always have to invite people over myself! Or you never send them, Miss Ruby!" He shot her a playful, accusing look.
"Oh... Brother Pillu, I didn’t know you were feeling lonely..." Milo said, his voice laced with guilt, his wide eyes full of concern.
Pillu, seeing Milo’s expression, let out a chuckle and patted his head. "It’s okay! Just come visit me sometimes, and Miss Ruby, you too." His smile was warm, as if he truly meant it.
Ruby, leaning back, gave him a small smirk. "Alright, alright. I’ll visit. And thank you, Pillu."
Pillu grinned, clearly satisfied. "Good! Then I’ll be back in two days to take you to see the place."
With that, he gave a playful salute and headed toward the door. Milo waved excitedly as Pillu walked out, promising to visit him soon.
As the door closed behind him, Ruby exhaled, stretching her arms. Things were finally moving forward. Now, she just had to wait two days before she could see the warehouse and if it was really as good as Pillu claimed, then she’d have her business space set in there.
Ruby’s days started getting busier than ever. From morning till night, she was completely absorbed in planning her business startup, listing everything she needed to get done, and mapping out her next steps.
She spent hours sketching designs, carefully creating different styles of robes, making sure each one had its own unique touch. Ten new designs, each one carefully thought out, practical yet elegant.
From these, she planned to produce a large stock of robes for her first big sale.
Today, however, was a different kind of important.
She was finally going to see the warehouse with Pillu.
They had decided to meet directly near the market, where Pillu would be waiting for her.
Of course, she wasn’t going alone. Milo, Julian, and Karl had all insisted on coming along.
"We should check the place together!" Milo had said excitedly.
Julian, ever the responsible one, wanted to make sure it was a good deal, and Karl... well, he just didn’t want to be left behind.
So, after making sure she had everything she needed, Ruby set out with her three husbands, heading toward the meeting spot where Pillu would be waiting.
As soon as Ruby stepped into the market with her husbands, she couldn’t help but notice the many judging eyes staring at her. Some people whispered, others gave her curious or disapproving looks, but Ruby ignored them all.
She was used to it by now. People often had opinions about her, but she didn’t let their stares bother her. She held her head high and focused on what she needed to do.
As they walked further into the market, Ruby spotted Piilu standing near a clothes shop.
As soon as he saw her, his face lit up, and he waved enthusiastically.
"Hi, Miss Ruby!" he called out, his grin wide and cheerful.
Julian, always polite, gave a soft smile. "Good to see you, Pillu."
Milo, grinning as always, waved eagerly. "Hi, Brother Pillu!"
Karl, however, simply gave a stiff nod. His expression was blank, but Ruby could tell he didn’t like Pillu.
Pillu, completely oblivious to Karl’s lack of enthusiasm, grinned even wider. "Come on! Let’s go check out the place!"
Ruby nodded, and with her husband’s following behind, she walked forward, ready to see if this warehouse was really worth it.
Pillu led them down a slightly winding path, taking them further from the market area. It wasn’t too far, but definitely a little secluded. Along the way, twisted trees lined the path, their gnarled branches stretching toward the sky, giving the surroundings an almost eerie feeling.
Finally, the warehouse came into view.
It wasn’t too big but also not too small, a decent size for a startup business. However, at first glance, it looked old, abandoned, and a little creepy. The walls were weathered, and the place had an air of neglect. But Ruby had seen enough of this world to understand that these were just normal standards here.
Standing outside the warehouse was a witch with striking purple hair. She seemed to be waiting for them, and the moment her eyes landed on Ruby, she offered a small, polite smile.
"You must be Ruby," she said quickly, her tone hurried. "Let me show you the warehouse real quick."
Ruby immediately picked up on the urgency in her voice. This witch was in a rush to sell.
Kerry as she introduced herself, explained that she was moving to another town, where she had already started a new business and built a bigger house. She needed to sell this place fast to settle everything else.
"Alright," Ruby nodded, allowing Kerry to lead the way.
The warehouse had a large, old wooden door, its surface scratched and faded from years of use. The walls were made of concrete, but their original color had long since faded into a dull, weathered gray.
As soon as Kerry pushed the doors open, a wide, open space stretched before them.
Large windows lined the walls, allowing plenty of natural light to filter inside. The floor was made of concrete, but it was coated in a layer of dust, making it clear that no one had used the place in a while.
At the far end, there was a small office room, completely empty, with no furniture inside.
Ruby took slow steps forward, analyzing everything. The place needed work, but more importantly was it worth the price?
"What do you think?" Kerry asked, watching Ruby closely.
She had once used this warehouse to store raw materials, but now, it was of no use to her. The space was mostly empty, aside from a few scattered remnants of its past use.
Honestly, if this were any other time, she wouldn’t have sold it for just 250 gems. A place like this with a piece of land included would normally go for at least 500 or more gems. But right now, she didn’t care.
She needed to sell this quickly so she could move on with her plans.
Ruby walked further inside, her red eyes scanning every corner, her mind already weighing the pros and cons. It was old, dusty, and needed some repairs but it was a cheap deal.
She turned to Julian, Karl, and Milo, who had been silently inspecting the place as well.
"What do you guys think?" she asked, wanting their opinions before making a final decision.
"It’s alright," Karl said as he looked around. The warehouse was bigger than his house, and for a moment, he wondered if they should just make their home here when they became homeless again.
His eyes wandered to the corner of the warehouse, imagining it. If their house broke down, and they had nowhere else to go, he was going to clean that corner and sleep there.
That would be his spot.
"It’s great," Julian said as he looked around, his eyes scanning the space thoughtfully.
Milo nodded his head eagerly in agreement. "Yeah, I like it too!"
Kerry turned to Ruby, her expression expectant. "So, Miss Ruby, what do you think? Do you want to finalize our deal?"
Ruby looked around once more before turning her gaze to Kerry. "Alright, give me a few days to think. I’ll let you know soon," she said.
She needed a little more time. The weekend was approaching, and she wanted to earn some extra coins before making the purchase. In her mind, she was already planning how to transform this space into a proper workplace. She could clearly imagine her office, the storage area, and how everything would be arranged.
But more than anything, she needed everything to be ready before the Diamond Moon Festival approached. That event was important, and if she played her cards right, it would be the perfect time to launch her business.
A flicker of impatience crossed Kerry’s face, but she quickly sighed and nodded. "Alright," she agreed, though she clearly wanted to finalize the deal sooner.
With that, they left the warehouse.
Outside, Pillu turned to her with curiosity. "Miss Ruby, did you like it?"
Ruby smiled slightly. "It’s alright," she said, keeping her tone neutral.
Hearing that, Pillu beamed with happiness. He was glad he could be helpful to Miss Ruby.
"Thank you, Pillu. Because of you, I found such a place in such a short time," Ruby said, smiling at him.
Pillu’s cheeks flushed slightly, and he waved his hands. "Oh, it’s nothing, Miss Ruby!" he said, trying to act modest but clearly pleased with the praise.
Then, he straightened up. "I have some work to do at my uncle’s shop, so I’ll take my leave now."
Ruby nodded, "Alright, see you later."
Pillu waved before hurrying off, disappearing into the market crowd.
As soon as he left, Julian turned to Ruby with his usual gentle expression. "Wife, can we buy some groceries for the house?" he asked.
Ruby glanced at him, then nodded. "Sure, let’s get what we need before heading home."
