My Fiance Told Me He Had Found His True Love and Broke off Our Engagement. It’s Too Late To Ask Me To Get Back Together Now! -
Ch. 19 - I Like You
Renato pulled Mariabelle's hand and headed for the outskirts of the town.
There, in the middle of nowhere, was a beautiful rose flower garden.
A white rose flower was blooming in the center, and it was very beautiful to see how the color gradually turned into a darker one.
Right next to Mariabelle, a freshly blooming red rose was swaying.
She unconsciously touched the rose on her hat.
I wonder if these roses were grown here.
"Did you enjoy the flower festival?"
"Yes, very much."
"I'm glad to hear that."
Smiling, Renato pulled a dagger from its sheath at his right hip and cut a red rose that was nearby.
After carefully removing the spike, Renato knelt and offered the rose to Mariabelle.
"In this short time, it will be difficult for you to know who I am, but if I am to have you as my queen, Miss Mariabelle Berkeley, it would be a blessing."
His low voice tickled Mariabelle's ear.
The deep blue eyes looked sincere, and they stirred Mariabelle's heart.
Her heart, which had been broken and shattered by Edward's abrupt termination of their engagement, sprouted again.
Can I trust him?
"Even if I give my heart to you..."
"I swear to you that I will take care of you alone. Please, be my queen."
"Am I really the right person for you?"
"I like you."
Mariabelle extended her trembling fingers toward Renato.
Then, she gently held the offered rose and placed it on her chest
"I humbly accept."

When they returned to the inn, James looked resigned at the proximity of Renato and Mariabelle.
Next to the reception room was the dining room.
Renato and the other three decided to discuss the future over a meal.
"The formal announcement of the engagement would come later, but we would like the two of you to come to the imperial capital."
"May I ask why?"
Although it isn't a large city, the food at the inn was quite good.
The duck terrine with white jelly was especially delicious, and when eaten with a refreshing white wine, the meal is so...
"...Recently, a certain play has been gaining popularity in the kingdom."
James' eyebrows moved slightly when he heard this.
Mariabelle has no idea, but James probably has a hint.
"It's about a commoner girl who is discovered by the prince, and who, despite the interference of a villainess, is finally united with him in true love. But it seems to be a hit with the public, partly because it is performed at a reasonable price by a popular theater company."
"That's..."
Renato nodded to Mariabelle, who was speechless.
"The story of the prince's broken engagement, rewritten to suit his needs."
"It's utter rubbish, sir."
James spat without trying to hide his anger.
It is obvious who the villainess in the story is.
James was deeply offended, wondering how far they could go to make fun of his daughter.
