Ch. 18 - Flower Festival

The small town was truly overflowing with colorful flowers.

In the Galleria Empire, many people make marriage proposals during flower festivals, and Renato was one of several men wearing purple roses on their chests.

A young man with a purple rose on his chest and a basket full of bright red roses hurrying down the street was probably on his way to make a marriage proposal.

People who looked like acquaintances were teasing him, saying, "You've finally made up your mind. She's been waiting for you a long time," as he walks quickly away.

Renato, dressed as a knight, was probably not thought of as the crown prince of this country. He was cheered casually by the people of the town.

Waving back at them, Renato walked through the streets with an air of familiarity.

Mariabelle thought that Renato must not be new to this town, judging from his sure footsteps.

Mariabelle, on the other hand, was curious about everything she saw, so she looked around with a wry smile.

Perhaps because it was the time of the flower festival, the faces of the people she passed were all cheerful.

This made her feel excited.

Renato, who was walking beside her, holding her hand so that they would not get separated, saw Mariabelle and smiled at her.

At first glance, she looked cold because she was trying not to show too much emotion, but upon closer inspection, her green-pillared eyes were shining happily as she moved from place to place with curiosity.

I had feared that her reputation as a perfect lady would make her unsympathetic and haughty, but when I actually met her, I found her to be an honest girl of her age, Renato thought.

She had maintained an appropriate distance from her fiancé, the crown prince, and her shyness at the slightest touch was endearing.

The more Renato got to know her, the more he liked her.

"You can dance to the music in the square. Would you like to go?"

"Is that all right with you?"

There are many people in the square. Carlo and the escorts were following them so as not to stand out, but isn't it still dangerous?

"Of course. I'll protect you," Renato said.

"No, Your Highness must put himself first..."

"Hmm. I don't want to be called 'Your Highness', and I don't want to be called by my name either... So how about calling me Ren?"

Having said that, Renato leaned towards Mariabelle and looked into her face; Mariabelle blushed at the closeness of his face.

He pulled Mariabelle gently by the hand.

Many people had already gathered in the square.

In the center, musicians were merrily playing music on violins and flutes.

Laughing cheerfully, Renato joined the dancing circle with Mariabelle.

As they danced, she was able to step more lightly than anyone else.

With Renato leading the way, she twirled and turned.

And when the song ended, the both of them were applauded for their splendid dance.

They were surrounded by a crowd, and Renato covered the startled Mariabelle.

"I'm sorry everyone, but please move away. I'm going to propose marriage now."

Saying this, Renato led Mariabelle away from the crowd.
