Chapter 253 - Chapter 253 253 I miss you

Chapter 253: 253 I miss you Chapter 253: 253 I miss you “Come, have a cup of hot cocoa.”

After returning home, Liu Yumeng held a cup in her hands as she pushed open the door of the room to find Luo Xiyun sitting on the bed, arms wrapped around her knees, her face buried in her legs, motionless.

She sat down beside the bed and patted Luo Xiyun’s hand.

Luo Xiyun didn’t move, as if she hadn’t heard her, and said with a thick nasal voice, “He didn’t come after me…”

Liu Yumeng, still holding the cup, looked at her and felt a bitterness in her heart.

Ever since she had known her, she had always been proud and independent, never showing the slightest interest in any man. Although sometimes Liu Yumeng found her quite annoying, there were times she truly envied her, wishing to live as carefreely as her.

Now, seeing her like this, Liu Yumeng realized that she, like all women in the world, could cry over a man.

“Don’t be like this, talk to me, what exactly happened?” Liu Yumeng placed the cup on a nearby table, patted her back, and asked softly.

Luo Xiyun only shook her head.

Liu Yumeng asked several times, but she wouldn’t say, leaving Liu Yumeng feeling somewhat helpless. She was still the same as before, no matter what happened, she wouldn’t confide in others.

After a while, Luo Xiyun said, “You go first, I want to be alone for a while.”

“Then rest well, call me if you need anything. The cocoa is on the table, remember to drink it.” Hearing her tone, Liu Yumeng sensed that she had calmed down somewhat, stood up, gave a reminder, and left the room, closing the door behind her.

It was morning when Chen Xu woke up to some noise, opened his eyes, and saw his parents had come and were placing a lunchbox on the table.

“Where’s Xiyun?” Zeng Wenli asked as she saw him awake.

Chen Xu’s mind was a bit foggy; he hadn’t slept well last night and only fell asleep just before dawn. He rubbed his eyes forcefully and said, “She had sudden work, rushed to the company overnight, said she’d be on a business trip for a while.”

“Oh, that’s really, work is important. She took half a month off just for you,” Zeng Wenli said, walking up to him, and added earnestly, “Son, isn’t it time you decided things with her?”

Hearing her mention this, Chen Xu vigorously rubbed his face and said, “Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”

“You need to hurry, your father and I are almost sixty, while we still have the energy, you should hurry up, get married, and have children, so we can help you raise them…”

“Alright, Mom, I’ll hurry,” Chen Xu said, then got up and went into the bathroom, closed the door, and stood in front of the mirror looking at his weary reflection, his beard unkempt.

He turned on the tap, about to wash his face, and when he looked down, he saw a razor by the sink, the same one from his house. His movements paused.

She was always so thoughtful, preparing everything for him.

He picked up the razor, faced the mirror, and shaved his beard clean.

After shaving, looking at his reflection again, he felt much fresher.

He picked up a cup and a toothbrush, his gaze lingering for a few seconds on the cup and toothbrush that belonged to her. It was only at times like these that he realized how her presence was imprinted everywhere in his life.

A strong longing surged uncontrollably within him.

“I miss you.”

He reached out, touched the white ceramic cup with a Peppa Pig design on it, and softly said,

“I really can’t lose you. No matter what, I must have you return by my side.” At that moment, he had finally made up his mind.

A few minutes later, after freshening up, Chen Xu came out of the bathroom. He went to the bedside, took out his phone, and sent a WeChat message to Secretary Jin.

Not long after breakfast, Secretary Jin arrived.

“Dad, Mom, Secretary Jin is here, you can go back first,” Chen Xu told his parents. “Since you’ve come all this way, you might as well go out and explore.”

Both Zeng Wenli and her husband thought he had work to handle and said, “Then we’ll leave, and don’t overwork yourself.”

“Yeah, you don’t need to bring lunch for me either. Meals are included here, and they won’t refund if not eaten.”

“We know.”

Zeng Wenli gave a few more instructions and then left with Chen Xinwen.

After they left, Chen Xu, holding a cup of coffee, walked to the window, watching the exit downstairs while he drank, waiting. A few minutes later, he saw the figures of his parents appear downstairs. He quickly drank the remaining coffee.

He turned to Secretary Jin and said, “You can go back to work.”

“Mr. Chen…” Secretary Jin hesitated, he had distracted his parents, surely trying to sneak out, and if something happened, she really wouldn’t know how to explain it.

Chen Xu said, “Don’t worry, I just have something to do, and I don’t want them to worry.”

“Do you want me to take you?”

“No need, I’ll just take a taxi,” said Chen Xu as he walked to the closet, took out his clothes, and entered the bathroom.

Seeing him like this, Secretary Jin knew she couldn’t persuade him otherwise, so she didn’t try further and left.

After changing his clothes, Chen Xu too left the hospital room. He walked out of the hospital, and after a short wait, a car stopped in front of him–it was the online ride he had booked.

He got into the car and headed to Luo Xiyun’s home.

……

Liu Yumeng had gotten up unusually early, as she hadn’t slept well last night, primarily worried about Luo Xiyun.

Luo Xiyun’s room door was tightly shut, with no signs of activity.

Around half past eight, just when she couldn’t resist the urge to knock, the door finally opened, and Luo Xiyun stepped out.

Seeing her wearing makeup, dressed neatly, and carrying a bag, Liu Yumeng couldn’t help but ask, “Where are you going?”

“To work.” Luo Xiyun’s voice was still a bit hoarse, and even though she had put on thick makeup, it couldn’t hide the bloodshot in her eyes.

Liu Yumeng suggested, “Why don’t you take a few more days off? We could go out and relax.”

Luo Xiyun shook her head, saying, “Right now, I just want to work.”

Liu Yumeng thought work was indeed better than staying alone in her room brooding, so she said, “Then, I’ll drive you.”

“Hmm.”

Ding dong.

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

Liu Yumeng clearly saw her expression change and said, “I’ll get the door.” Walking to the door, she peeked through the peephole, relaxed, and said, “It’s your father’s driver.”

“Oh.” Luo Xiyun showed little reaction, her eyes drooping, and Liu Yumeng couldn’t see her expression.

The door opened, and standing outside was Luo Zhenghai’s driver.

“Brother Jun, good morning.” Liu Yumeng greeted warmly. Being Zhenghai’s driver, he was definitely a trusted person–not someone to offend.

“Morning.” Brother Jun gave her a slight smile, then turned to Luo Xiyun and said, “Mr. Luo sent me. Whenever you want to go somewhere, just call me.”

Luo Xiyun said in a cold tone, “I don’t need you to follow me, please go.”

“I’m sorry, but this is the duty Mr. Luo has assigned me. Please don’t make this difficult for me.”

Luo Xiyun frowned, about to speak, when the doorbell rang again, visibly altering her complexion; the words below were left unspoken.

Liu Yumeng went back to the peephole, her expression turning slightly weird, “It’s Chen Xu.”

She had just wondered how Zhenghai had been so well-informed, sending the driver so early about last night’s matter. And just when the driver arrived, Chen Xu too showed up.

This was sure to be an interesting scene.

She had long heard from her brother Liu Kun that Zhenghai opposed Luo Xiyun’s relationship with Chen Xu. The intention of sending the driver was clear–it was to prevent Chen Xu from further entanglement.

Luo Xiyun turned away, her voice hoarse, “I don’t want to see him.”

Ding dong ding dong…

The doorbell kept ringing.

Liu Yumeng looked towards Brother Jun, who then said, “I’ll handle it,” pulling the door open.

Once the door was open, a hand braced it against further movement as Brother Jun blocked the gap, looking at Chen Xu outside, “She doesn’t want to see you, please leave.”

Chen Xu stood his ground, facing the man who was half a head taller than him, “I know you work for someone too, I don’t want to make this hard for you, please step aside.”

Last time, he had asked this man for a cigarette; even though the gesture was minor, he still remembered it.

Brother Jun’s expression remained unchanged as he repeated, “Please leave.”

Seeing his resolute attitude, Chen Xu didn’t argue further but stepped forward, placing a hand on his chest.

Brother Jun’s expression became stern, “Please leave, now.”
