Luo Xiyun noticed that Chen Xu had suddenly stopped walking. Finding it strange, she turned to look at him and saw that his complexion was a bit off. She asked with concern, “Are you okay?”

“Why are you asking this?”

“I just feel like it’s very unfair to you,” he said.

Luo Xiyun placed her bag on her knees and responded, “Life doesn’t have ‘ifs,’ nor does it offer chances to do things over. Thinking about such things is pointless.”

After speaking, she opened the car door and stepped out. After closing the door, she reminded him, “Drive carefully.”

“Okay, go on up. I’ll send you a WeChat message when I get home,” said Chen Xu.

He watched until Luo Xiyun entered the building and her apartment light turned on, then he finally drove away.

Upstairs, Luo Xiyun watched his car drive off from the window, pondered his question, and sighed softly.

“When did you become so sentimental?”

Suddenly, a voice came from beside her. She turned to see Liu Yumeng, wearing pajamas, leaning against the doorframe, and asked, “Why haven’t you gone to sleep?”

“I came out for some water,” said Liu Yumeng, stretching her back and asking, “Why didn’t you bring him home? Did you suddenly become shy, or did you two have a fight?”

Luo Xiyun looked at her and said, “Yumeng, you weren’t like this before. Why do you have to target him?”

“I just don’t like the look of him.”

“Why?”

“I think he’s not a good person.”

“Whether he’s a good person or not, what does that have to do with whether I like him?” Luo Xiyun retorted.

Liu Yumeng paused as if she wanted to say more, but then, seemingly disheartened, she sighed and said, “Forget it, I won’t meddle in your affairs anymore.” With that, she turned back into her room and closed the door behind her.
