Chapter 206 - Chapter 206 206 Let go quickly
Chapter 206: 206 Let go quickly Chapter 206: 206 Let go quickly Next, Chen Xu and Secretary Jin became very busy leasing office space, registering the company, recruiting staff, and more. For half a month, they were constantly on their feet.
However, though they were busy, Secretary Jin managed everything methodically and systematically without any fuss.
Chen Xu was greatly impressed by her capabilities, no wonder she became the secretary to a CEO of a listed company at such a young age. It could be said that her skills were honed by her time beside the CEO.
Still, Chen Xu felt it was more about her own qualities. Among all the workplace elites he had encountered, none could match her in handling matters.
To him, Secretary Guo was already very competent, but she paled in comparison to Secretary Jin.
Thinking this way, he was genuinely grateful to Luo Xiyun for introducing such a talent to him, which had significantly helped him. Whether it was negotiating with Jinyun Group or establishing the company, nearly all of it was managed by her.
Unfortunately, despite his efforts, he was unable to offer her a better compensation package, only managing to match her previous salary.
Jiang Yan’s stance was clear: the company’s funds were limited and needed to be spent wisely. Salary for the management had to be kept within a certain range; increases could only occur once someone demonstrated results and as the company grew, the remunerations would naturally rise.
As General Manager, Chen Xu’s annual salary was only comparable to a director level at Wanhua Company. Secretary Jin couldn’t possibly earn more than him.
Half a month later, one morning, Chen Xu arrived at the new company’s office. Although modest in size compared to Wanhua Company, merely the size of one department, it was his territory, and that held a completely different significance for him.
“Mr. Chen, good morning.” “Mr. Chen, good morning.”
Two young employees, one male and one female, both graduates from prestigious universities, had already arrived. Chen Xu personally witnessed how Secretary Jin convinced them to join, becoming the company’s first and second employees.
He was curious about how Secretary Jin had acquired so many skills. She had only been working for about four or five years, not nearly as long as Old Tang, yet she seemed to know everything?
Once, he couldn’t help but ask her, and her reply was that when there was a need, she learned very quickly.
Though that made sense, Chen Xu believed that the real reason was her genius; that’s why she learned everything so quickly.
Chen Xu entered his own office and had just sat down when Secretary Jin came in with a cup of hot tea. He preferred tea over coffee, something Secretary Jin noticed and now she brewed him a cup every morning.
“What’s on the schedule for today?”
Chen Xu lifted the cup and noticed she had changed the tea leaves, the flavor slightly unique.
“Today we need to inspect the renovation status of the third branch,” said Secretary Jin, “but you don’t need to go.”
Chen Xu sipped his tea, finding it quite astringent at first but soon after, it became sweet. “Why not go?”
Secretary Jin said, “How long has it been since you spent time with your girlfriend?”
Chen Xu put down his cup, “You also want to meddle in your boss’s personal life?”
“An unhappy personal life will definitely affect your work. So, while your relationship hasn’t completely fallen apart, I feel it’s my duty to remind you.”
Chen Xu looked at her, seeing her unmoved he spoke somewhat helplessly, “I sent her a message on WeChat yesterday, but she still hasn’t replied.”
“Go see her directly. Speaking face to face shows sincerity.”
“But it’s early morning, just starting work, isn’t it inappropriate? Better wait until after work.”
Secretary Jin said, “I just heard some news; she seems to be transferring overseas for work.”
Chen Xu was stunned.
After a moment, he turned his chair away from her, “Please leave for now.”
…
At noon, Chen Xu drove the company car, arriving below Wanhua Company’s building, and parked. Glancing at the time, he had fifteen minutes until lunch break.
He exited the car and took the elevator up to the electronics sales department.
Secretary Guo emerged from her office and was the first to spot him, pausing in surprise, “Chen Xu, what brings you here?”
“Where’s Xiyun?” asked Chen Xu
At that moment, other colleagues noticed him and greeted him.
“She’s gone to the airport…” Secretary Guo hadn’t finished speaking when Chen Xu’s expression changed. He urgently cut her off, “Which airport?”
“XX Airport.”
“What time does her flight depart?”
“At 1:20 PM…” Before she could finish, Chen Xu had already turned and sprinted away, running as if it were a hundred-meter dash.
Secretary Guo, watching his hasty departure, suddenly realized, had he misunderstood something?
Should she call to explain?
This thought flashed through her mind, recalling how Mr. Luo had been staying late at the office every day this past half-month, his mood grimmer than ever, keeping her on edge daily.
Maybe, this misunderstanding was a good thing.
Thus, she dismissed the idea of making the call.
…
After running downstairs, Chen Xu drove straight to the airport, arriving at 1:15 PM. He rushed into the terminal just as the announcement for the 1:20 PM flight to XX was about to depart blared, his heart pounding with urgency.
Soon, he spotted Luo Xiyun standing outside the security checkpoint, surrounded by a few people, embracing an older woman.
Then, a young man reached out his arms, wanting a hug. She shook her head, declining. However, the man forcefully moved to embrace her.
Seeing this, Chen Xu, filled with rage, dashed forward, grabbed Luo Xiyun’s hand, and shoved the man away.
Luo Xiyun looked at him, stunned, unable to speak.
“Who are you?” The young man, pushed aside with a scowl and seeing him holding Luo Xiyun’s hand, angrily demanded, “Where are you grabbing? Let go!”
Speaking, he moved forward to grab Chen Xu’s collar. Standing nearly 1.9 meters tall, he was imposing and head and shoulders taller than Chen Xu.
“Don’t!” Luo Xiyun’s face changed as she instinctively shouted.
Chen Xu swiftly extended his hand, accurately striking the man’s palm, then grasped his thumb, wrenching it hard. He twisted the man’s arm around.
“Ouch…”
The man, large in stature, screamed in pain, kneeling on one knee, and pleaded, “Let go.”
Chen Xu, without changing his stance, had subdued the man, coldly stating, “Dare to touch my woman, you’re looking for trouble.”
“Little brother…”
Caught off-guard by this turn of events, Luo Xiyun suddenly realized and, pushing away Chen Xu’s hand, urgently said, “Please let go.”
Little brother?
Hearing this term, Chen Xu was completely stunned.
