Chapter 81: Karl & Felix(2)

So, back to the story, Felix, the teen who was cold, had changed after Karl’s confession about his bad experience. He must have overcome his jealousy to make the troubled one feel better because he himself knew the pain.

Asher felt the duke was so innocent and kind.

He deserves all the happiness in the world.

So, their somewhat messed up pasts had made them friends with time. Even though he still couldn’t get close to Felix as much as Lucas, he patiently waited and treated Felix better. With time, both of them got more closer with Lucas’s help and after Anne appeared in the picture, they got even closer.

Karl, the rich prince often sent gifts and things for Anne and Felix.

Even though visiting them often wasn’t possible for Karl, he did his best to show them his presence through gifts or letters.

Eventually, time made them who they are today.

Their friendship got stronger with Lucas in the middle and they were one group that relied on each other.

The duke had later found out Karl knew about his past but had commented he didn’t mind. However, Lucas had apologised for revealing it but the duke had let it go since he got a friend.

They all were similar. With childhoods that they want to let go, the good memories of their friendship makes them more and more close.

It’s an interesting and wholesome story. Asher was so invested in the story as he wanted to know more about the duke. The duke had always been kind...That poor soul didn’t deserve any of the hardships...

Asher, stuck in his own thoughts, eventually came to the term that this man must be telling the truth.

However, there was a remarkable part where Asher was given a weird warning.

And, it was very similar to what Anne said at that time.

"Don’t run away from him. Ask for his help if needed because he would absolutely help you. Don’t doubt him."

Asher wanted to ask more about that but he didn’t want to get too engaged in a conversation which might end up spilling unwanted beans.

But he kept it in his mind.

Maybe he could ask Miss Anne about this later...

But, why would he even run away?

And it didn’t end there.

It gets even weirder.

"Want to bet?"

"Ha?"

The man ignorantly asked Asher, excited.

"A bet. I am sure Felix will come today to get you. If you can make Felix question me with worry for you, I will reward you with 100 silver coins."

"...Why?"

"Because I want to see if he really cares about you as Lucas said. I don’t believe it. He had never cared that much for others. And it’s okay if you lose. I don’t want anything back. What do you say?"

Without a beat, Asher agreed, him more excited than the other.

"Bet!"

Asher was suddenly feeling thrilled and he could see the prince smirking with confidence.

But Asher was confident.

The duke was such a kind hearted person, he would be worried for him.

But...would he still be worried knowing it’s just his friend who kidnapped him?

Still, somewhere, his heart told him the duke would be on his side.

Alas, even if he lost the bet, he would lose nothing anyway.

But he might be disappointed to know the duke wouldn’t be at least a little worried about him going missing.

He thought...they were close.

Asher was yet excited and got into a short conversation with the man which ended up with them talking more casually and then the man, Karl apologising for any discomfort Asher had getting kidnapped.

’Is getting kidnapped was like taking a ride?

Crazy Ba-he is a prince.’

Asher floated back to the present and watched as the duke poured tea for him with such grace. Was he really worried? Asher recalled the duke comforting him.

The duke looked sincerely worried.

Asher felt quite guilty because he was enjoying his time there as the prince treated him very well. Even placing a bet whether he would be worried or not.

But one thing for sure. He didn’t cry because he wanted to win the bet in anyway.

He cried because he was relieved that the duke was finally there.

He wasn’t scared but seeing the duke, visibly impatient and rushing to him, Asher couldn’t help it.

He was happy at that moment.

So far, and even in the future, the only person he could hope to be saved by was the duke. Because he saved him once...

Asher looked at the duke very gently, feeling happy. He saw the duke glaring at the prince and the prince nodding with a guilty look.

’Deserved! How dare you kidnap me?!’

Asher didn’t feel any pressure and was so carefree. He saw the prince looking at him with a smile and Asher gave a big grin to show off his victory. The prince sighed and slightly shook his head, visibly defeated.

It was fun.

That man, the prince, wasn’t as bad as he expected. Even though he literally kidnapped him...

He seemed like genuinely a good person but too playful with serious matters.

Asher silently sipped on the cup of tea the duke handed him over while trying his best to be as small as he could, surrounded by these three majestic men around the table.

"I didn’t know Felix was into men. Are you too Lucas? Am I handsome enough for your eyes? Will you like me too?"

Karl asked in a sarcastic tone, to which Lucas looked at him, silently glaring at him for a few minutes, then stabbing his fork into the piece of cake on Karl’s plate.

"You are so full of yourself you don’t need food..."

Lucas calmly said before shoving the whole piece of cake into his mouth, furiously chomping on it.

Felix didn’t even look worried seeing them argue like this and just sipped on his tea silently. Asher saw this and realised this might not be a new thing between them.

Asher was quite concerned though.

’They look like a grumpy married couple.’

Asher couldn’t help but think as he saw the prince serve another piece of cake onto sir Lucas’s plate instead of his own plate which was robbed away by sir Lucas before.

’Are they really...just friends?’
