My Dear Duke(BL) -
Chapter 77: Shopping(2)
Chapter 77: Shopping(2)
’Damn...this is taking so long.’
Sooo long...
Asher tried his best to not show he was bored because he didn’t want to offend the duke or miss Anne with his behaviour. But it was so boring to just sit and watch something he didn’t understand for hours.
While the duke chose his clothes with just a few flips on the book, Miss Anne took a lot of time and she went through around two books, suggesting her ideas and finally coming to the final design.
After almost two hours of discussion, they finally got to leave.
They would pick the clothes two weeks later and the payments would be done that day.
It was an easy process other than this part where they would be deciding how they want their dress to be.
Still being this little, Miss Anne had so much to comment on how she wanted her dress, didn’t she?
Hmm...
Asher was so relieved to see they could finally step outside, go back...
"F-father."
Anne suddenly clung to Felix’s clothes and looked at him with pleading eyes as they walked back to get a carriage to return.
"What is it this time? I didn’t forget your cake so if it is about it, then no need to whine."
"Oh."
So it turned out to be about the cakes.
Anne happily held Felix’s hand and walked by his side as she grabbed Asher’s hand in the other. Asher was surprised but couldn’t break free and had to just follow along.
Felix, as said, bought two cakes for Anne.
She was smiling all the time in the carriage as her eyes landed on the two cakes on Felix’s lap.
"Don’t eat it all at once. And share with Asher."
Felix said seeing her look and clearly knowing she would shove it all in as soon as they arrived back. In response, Asher was fast and jumped in to defend Anne.
"Ah! No need to share with me."
Asher said and the duke looked at Anne.
"I know."
Anne said and winked at Asher which of course was seen by Felix too.
However, neither Felix nor Asher understood the meaning of that wink.
Both Felix and Asher just focused on the view outside, immersing in their own thoughts while the girl immersed herself in the imaginary taste of the cakes through its visuals.
"If I die, let me eat cakes."
Anne said out of blue and Felix looked at her before rolling his eyes with ridicule.
"You won’t die now."
"Let me eat cake anyway. Hehe."
"Sigh..."
The duke sighed and looked away again.
Meanwhile Asher, who wasn’t even paying attention to them and in his world, frowned.
’Ugh...These body aches....lately it has gotten worse.’
Asher rubbed his back with little motions and thought to himself before leaning on the seat, relaxing as the discomfort and the pain backed down.
’Should I get checked out by a physician? I don’t do a lot of work to be in this much body ache. This is definitely concerning...’
It started as just knee pains. He didn’t even remember when it started.
It hadn’t been very long.
Definitely after that overseas trip. He did not have any problem before that.
Asher thought these slight knee pains were because he would walk all around the mansion following Miss Anne everyday. So, it felt common for him.
However, soon, it got worse. The pain got worse and he got pain all over everywhere on his body too. He thought he worked too much. But, he didn’t really do any heavy work to have those body aches suddenly coming to him.
It was confusing and didn’t make sense so he thought the pain might just go away but it had been behind his mind, always bothering him that something might be wrong with him.
Still, he just thought it would be okay soon. Maybe it really happened or he just hallucinated, but the pain wasn’t troublesome anymore. Unlike before, he wouldn’t be in pain all the time but would get it all at once, out of the blue at random times.
He didn’t even have a fever so these were just not very serious in his mind.
He didn’t want to waste his money because of some body aches as it wasn’t considered serious to get checked out.
Now he kind of realised he is being greedy by not using his money when it’s necessary. But money doesn’t come easily. He needs to save as much as possible for a worse moment.
But, he might soon see a physician to get himself checked out if he doesn’t get better.
’Ugh! My head...’
Asher squeezed his eyes as if it would help. He wanted to just rub his forehead but he was afraid he would draw attention from the duke and Miss Anne. He didn’t want them questioning him since he himself did not know why he was having pains like this.
But the duke seemed to have noticed a difference in Asher.
Of course he would notice because Asher was sweating even when the wind from the open windows of the carriage was coming inside and cooling them.
"Asher, are you okay?"
The duke asked and Asher, suddenly flustered by the situation, nodded and answered hurriedly.
"Yes. It’s fine, just a headache."
"Are you sure it’s fine? You look pale."
Seeing the duke worriedly questioning Asher, Anne also looked at Asher attentively, agreeing with the duke next.
"Brother Ash, you look sick, are you really okay?"
By that time, Asher didn’t have any more pain and he was fine. So, he managed to convince them it’s just a headache. With him feeling better, his complex also got better so the duke and miss Anne finally accepted his answer.
But Asher did notice them sneaking at him from time to time, concerned.
Both of them seemed worried.
However, Asher didn’t get any more aches so all the way back, he was doing fine and the duke and miss Anne must have finally convinced themselves he was really fine. It’s just a moment.
Asher sighed in relief and was determined this time.
’I will definitely see a physician.’
After coming back to the mansion, Asher straightly went back to the servants’ house since it was early hour of the night and was the usual time he gets off work. The duke also gave him permission to leave so Asher came back, wishing to take a nap and think again if he should be concerned about the sudden body aches...
However, he had a surprise waiting for him.
As soon as he entered his room, he was met with a stranger sitting on his bed, shaking his leg impatiently. That man had his face covered with a black cloth and only his eyes visible. As soon as the door was cracked open, the man turned to look at Asher, the only visible eyes shining with excitement.
Asher had a terrible gut feeling and his first instinct was to close the door and run out of the room as soon as possible. He had only just put one step inside the room and hadn’t even entered there completely, so it would have been easy to run away. Or so he thought...
Surprisingly or not, before he could even take off, he was already grabbed by the man, captivated and unable to escape.
A cloth was pressed onto his face and Asher, who panicked, cursed out in his mind helplessly.
His eyes getting heavy and his body losing strength, he fell into the man’s arms unconscious.
’Fuck! not again...’
