Chapter 146: ’Why Isn’t He Waking Up?’

Anne decided this was the best for the situation.

She didn’t think further doing what she did so now she would reverse whatever she could and save the best she could.

’I didn’t expect it to work that well. Since I had to cast it on three people...Haa."

Anne blinked, then thought about everything again.

’I am sorry, Father. But...I need more time to prepare myself to confess what you want to know.’

This was all she could do.

’Maybe...this incident...I might never confess to father.’

Anne thought things turned to a good turn with this...but it did not. It somehow took a bad turn again. At least not to her...

"Duke, wake up."

When Anne finished breakfast and Asher decided to pay a visit to the duke, he realised the duke’s office was still closed. Which meant, he had not come there.

Asher was surprised by this because the duke wouldn’t be late...Like this much late.

Asher rushed to the bedroom and saw the duke still sleeping, just like how he was when Asher left him in the morning.

Asher was worried.

It was not like the duke didn’t sleep last night.

So...

Asher shook the duke and when he finally succeeded in waking up the duke, just like before, he closed his eyes again.

Asher froze and didn’t understand what was happening. This was not normal at all. If it was himself, he would think it’s normal but...it’s the duke. The duke who never sleeps a lot like this.

It was very concerning and Asher tried waking him up again where things repeated again despite Asher trying to awaken the duke.

Asher was now really scared.

The duke didn’t even look at him.

He didn’t say anything and just shut his eyes, going to sleep again.

Sleeping wasn’t concerning but Asher was so nervous.

He couldn’t just keep trying since he failed every time. For the one last time, he tried and warned the duke if he doesn’t wake up he will call sir Lucas.

And the duke just fell asleep.

’I am calling sir Lucas. This is not in any way normal! He did not even talk to me!’

Asher rushed to see Bill and informed him that sir Lucas needed to come and check on the duke. Seeing Asher stressed, Bill knew something was wrong but didn’t question him further and quickly sent a carriage to bring sir Lucas.

Then, Asher rushed back to the duke’s room and still kept trying to wake him up but the duke did not wake up at all. He didn’t even open his eyes like he did before when Asher shook him.

Asher was now panicking, confident something was very wrong with the duke.

He shook water onto the duke’s face to get him awake which also failed. He then bit the duke hard so the pain would at least awake him. But it also failed.

Asher...didn’t want to do it. But seeing the duke motionless he...really had to check if the duke was breathing.

Thankfully, the duke had his breath steady. That was the only thing that made him feel quite relieved in that situation.

Asher rubbed his face aggressively, now really worried and impatient.

He felt like time passed by very slowly as he waited and waited for sir Lucas to show up.

When Sir Lucas showed up though, Asher couldn’t even say anything. He just broke down crying.

Lucas was taken aback by all of this and rushed to help Asher while he took a glance at Felix sleeping.

"Calm down, okay? Breath. Calm down."

Lucas grabbed Asher and shook him, telling as he saw Asher was panicking all of a sudden.

"D-duke...Haa...Please check on him."

Asher finally got the words out of him and leaned back on the chair, asking sir Lucas to first check on the duke.

Lucad didn’t see anything wrong with Felix at first glance so he tried waking him up. How dare this bastard sleep while Asher panics and cries like that?

Lucas immediately realised there was indeed something wrong with Felix.

’Why isn’t he waking up?’

Lucas, frustrated that Felix had not woken up from all his efforts, checked his pulse and everything he usually did which came out very normal.

So...there was nothing wrong to see.

"Don’t cry Asher. Maybe...he is just too sleepy to wake up."

Lucas tried to calm down Asher even though he knew that was definitely not the case.

Even after all his rough slaps he hit on Felix’s cheek, he would only sleep if he was dead.

Well, he wasn’t dead though.

He was sound asleep.

’Can I say he is sleeping though? He must be unconscious. But, he should still be awake. And, what caused this? This had never happened to him before so...’

Lucas, frowning as he thought, examined Felix again. Thinking of possible reasons, yet failing to find a clue.

"Did he not wake up in the morning at all?"

Lucas questioned Asher who had now calmed down and was staring at the duke.

"I woke up in the morning. We even talked. Then I fell asleep again. When I woke up again, he was like that. I thought he was just sleepy and let him sleep. But he didn’t wake up no matter how much I tried."

Asher explained and Lucas was also left confused as this was his first time seeing such a situation.

Felix didn’t have any problem after every examination he did. So, this was really confusing.

"Did he perhaps consume anything new?"

"No. There was literally nothing I could think of. "

"Okay, don’t panic. Okay? Let’s figure this out. Be patient."

"Mmm..."

"Have you eaten?"

"....No."

"Then first eat. Don’t just starve yourself because you have to stay strong if things get harder. You need to stay steady before anything else. Go...I will examine him and try to wake him up."

Lucas pushed Asher out of the room, urging him to eat as Lucas knew how he must have been panicking from the way he broke down seeing him. Asher needs to calm down and get himself together.

Asher was very hesitant but Lucas pushed him and in the end, Asher left after Lucas warned him if he also collapses, things will get troublesome for the duke.

He didn’t mean to scare Asher. But Asher needs to calm down and take care of himself too.

’Well, I didn’t imagine Felix being in this kind of a serious condition. Fuck! What did this bastard do? Why is he not waking up?’

Lucas looked at Felix who was motionless and looking very peaceful as he slept.

’I will examine him again.’

Lucas, now quite restless as he was also worried, went to examine him again.
