Chapter 119: The Beautiful Man, Asher

"The grand duke is meeting with the guests. I will leave you alone so he can come to you. I want to grab Lucas."

Karl said and left after Felix bowed again. When Felix was again left alone, he was served drinks which he got one and slowly sipped on it as he observed the surrounding, boringly passing time.

The ballroom was beautiful and large. It was decorated beautifully. Felix thought things must have been arranged under the preferences and strongly according to only what the host of the ball as the decorations seemed really flashy for a birthday party. Well, what could he say? People can celebrate their birthdays like weddings as long as they have the money to spend to please others.

"Duke Griffin!"

The grand duke, who was going around greeting the guests, finally approached Felix. The old man welcomed him and showed his happiness and gratefulness for accepting the invitation and showing up to the celebration.

"I hope you enjoy today’s party. Please eat and drink as you wish. Make yourself comfortable."

The grand duke said and Felix nodded as he respectfully thanked him.

"Thank you granduke. Congratulations to your daughter."

"Haha...Mm...don’t take me wrong. I know this is too soon for a question like this. Forgive me if I am making you uncomfortable. But, does this young man have anyone in mind for marriage? I would like to respectfully suggest my daughter to you as I believe you would be a good husband one day."

The grand duke hesitantly said and Felix was surprised, but he still maintained his respectful friendly manner. He wouldn’t be mad. This old man was just asking him curiously, not ordering him around...unlike his aunt.

"Ah...I am sorry but I... already have someone."

Felix said and the grand duke immediately apologised.

"....Ah! Is that so? I am sorry about my suggestion. I didn’t actually even know. I am sorry for my unruly request."

"It’s okay granduke. I like keeping my affairs private. That’s why no one knows."

"That’s good, that’s good. Then, I may excuse myself. Please enjoy the night."

"Thank you."

Felix watched the grand duke go to talk to another person and left a sigh in relief.

But his heart thumped and he felt his cheeks burning again as he felt really proud that he got to say he had someone.

He had someone.

And that someone was that beautiful man, Asher.

How did he even make Asher like him?

By scaring him in the heats?

He didn’t know...he seriously had no idea why and how Asher could look at him with so much passion and gentleness. It almost melts Felix.

He was...weak to love and care. Because...he never got it before.

Felix rubbed his cheeks not so obviously because he didn’t want to draw attention. But he had already caught some young ladies staring his way.

He was in a corner so unless they were looking at the wall they were looking at him.

He was going to get himself embarrassed if he blushed there like an idiot.

Never had he imagined he would be worried about not being able to control his face.

Thankfully, Lucas arrived there at that time. He seemed annoyed and Felix didn’t even have to think twice about who had annoyed him. And obviously, he was right.

"That bastard. Why is he sticking to me everywhere? Fuck! Shouldn’t he find a good wife here while he has the chance?"

Hopefully, with Felix’s attention going to Lucas he wasn’t in a storm anymore. How could he think about anything else when he saw annoyed Lucas? If he were to ignore him, he would have to face his anger.

"Don’t you know he only wants you around?"

Felix asked not to try to piss him off but to calm him down by starting a conversation which might eventually help him talk it out and relax.

"Huh! Who is he? A child? Am I his mother or what? That bastard wouldn’t even be able to find a girl if he was like that. In the end, he would only have me to marry. Bastard. Maybe he wishes to die like a single dog."

Lucas huffed.

"...I am sure he will be happy if he could marry you."

Felix said in a teasing manner.

"In his dreams! No, in his nightmares. I am going to make his life hell."

Lucas said as he clenched his fist in front of his face, looking determined.

"Why are you so angry?"

"That bastard held my hand in front of a lady that approached him. And he dared to say we are lovers. Do you know what kind of a big deal this is now? He is a prince. And that lady is going to talk about it everywhere. Fuck...I am going to get in trouble when the emporer find out about this. I might lose my job too."

Lucas complained and Felix, stunned that Karl went that far, stared at Lucas.

If Karl didn’t have a backup plan, he wouldn’t have done such a drastic thing...

Could it be...Karl actually likes Lucas?

It wasn’t just this that made him feel like it.

He had seen how Karl and Lucas are very close, Karl always teasing Lucas and messing with him then Lucas blaming him yet...not blaming at the same time. Lucas was not angry in those times but kind of amused. It was time Lucas liked to argue with him. Felix didn’t know what that feeling was but his gut feeling always said something was not right between them.

But he never asked them outright because well...it would sound weird. Since he had always been the dumbest in these kinds of topics, of course he wouldn’t believe his own thoughts.

Maybe this...was just Karl messing with Lucas again.

Felix honestly didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t take Karl’s side or defend him since it would make Lucas upset. So he kept silent and after Lucas was done ranting, he finally calmed down and got a drink, gulped it down.

"Hey....don’t drink like that. You will get drunk."

Felix said and Lucas nodded as he stared at the empty glass, seemingly lost in thoughts. But, Felix wasn’t surprised when Lucas next calmly talked to him again since Lucas had always managed to change his mood and tone in seconds in any situation.

"Felix."

"Mm?"

"Congratulations. Karl said you and Asher are together."

"Ah...Thank you."

"Are you blushing you bastard? Haha!"

Lucas laughed at Felix’s face that turned red and Felix had to slap his hand that pointed at him and beg him to not draw attention with his loud laugh.

"Shh! Are you trying to embarrass me?"

"Okay okay. I am sorry. I forgot you’re shy."

Lucas said and Felix let go of his hand, but Lucas laughed again.

"I never thought you would be the first to actually get a lover between us three. Sigh....It’s me that can’t find anyone."

"...Do you have someone you like?"

"No...how can I even get time to look at someone when that bastard sticks to me like a leech. Ugh!"

Lucas complained and Felix saw him staring at Karl who was quite far away and was talking with a girl, looking joyful.

Before Felix could say anything, Lucas talked again.

"Huh! Now he is flirting with a girl. Bastard."

’But...didn’t you want him to find a girl?’

Felix didn’t dare to say it out loud. So he just silently watched Lucas grit his teeth and curse Karl out while shooting fire from his eyes.

"I am going outside. If that bastard ask for me, tell him I am dead."

Lucas said and stormed out of the ballroom, looking all flushed. He looked so angry. What made him angry like that?

From the things Lucas said, Felix was confused that Karl is exactly what Lucas wanted but now, he was getting blamed for it. He might never understand why Karl likes to piss off Lucas or why Lucas would be always mad about everything Karl does. And, he didn’t know how they could easily get past those arguements and move on like nothing happened, as if they never fought. Both of them were really weird.

Felix, thinking about those two, stayed there, sipping on the second glass of wine, observing Anne from time to time.

’She eats like she hasn’t eaten in forever.’

However, when he turned to look for her again she wasn’t anywhere to see.

Felix was quite bothered but since she was so focused on the food, maybe...she went for more food.

So he calmly looked around, yet failing to spot her.

"Sir Felix?"

When Felix heard someone call, he turned to the side where he heard the tender soft female voice come from and was quite taken aback as he didn’t expect to see that person to be there.
