Chapter 169: Cake madness
"This new me...does it..."
"Changing your appearance? If that was your question, then yes.."
Ju Jing gulped as she really going to do this? Did she even have a choice.
"Your surgery is due Thursday so be prepared.."
The woman stood up and walked to the door, placing her hand on the door knob. She turned to look at Ju Jing.
"And if you dare to escape, I’ll find you and I’ll pour acid all over your beautiful face.."
The woman chuckled before leaving the house, getting into the car and driving of.
Meanwhile Ju Jing was filled with a sense of dread as she touched her face gently.

"Song Dae-Ju stop at the grocery shop, I wanna bake a cake.."
Song Dae-Ju blinked, cooking was the young madam’s best forte.
"What? Are you saying I can’t do it?"
Song Dae-Ju immediately shook his head and increased the speed, auntie Gu would probably be there to help her so there was no need to worry.
"No, no, not at all.."
Tang Xue Mei pouted, after that little cooking fiasco no one believed that she could make a good meal.
"I’ll do it and I’ll do it well this time.."
Tang Xue Mei stood in front of the kitchen counter, her eyes fixed on the recipe book lying open in front of her. She wanted to try something new today, so she had decided to take the plunge and try making a cake from scratch.
"I’ll probably fail the first time but the second time I do this I’ll be better.."
Tang Xue Mei donned her apron, a bright pink color with white polka dots, and began gathering the ingredients.
"First I need to pre heat the oven to 170 degree celsius and then grease the pan and flour the cake pan.."
She went ahead and preheated the oven and added flour to the pan.
Everything was going well, but as she started mixing the wet ingredients, things quickly went awry.
The eggs refused to beat properly, the sugar clumped together in stubborn lumps, and the flour... well, let’s just say it seemed to have a mind of its own.
As she attempted to pour the batter into the cake pan, she knocked over the bag of flour, covering the counter in a fine white powder. Coughing and sneezing, Tang Xue Mei stumbled backward, her hair now resembling a snowy mountain range.
Somehow, she managed to get the cake into the oven but it did not look as pleasing to the eyes as she had expected.
"Need to clean this place and get started again..."
"Tang Xue Mei, what have you done?" Leia asked, holding her sides.
Taking one look at the state of the kitchen and Tang Xue Mei’s flour-covered appearance, Leia burst into loud laugh.
Tang Xue Mei looked down at the mess, a sheepish grin spreading across her face. "I, uh, tried to bake a cake."
Leia wiped tears from her eyes. "Well, I think it’s time to order takeout, don’t you?"
30 minutes later, the cake came out of the oven a sorry mess and was tossed into the trash can immediately.
"Do you need my help, i can..."
"No, I’ll do it myself and this time it would be better.."
Leia sat at the counter as she watched Tang Xue start the process all over again.
Tang Xue Mei stood in front of the kitchen counter, her eyes fixed on the recipe book lying open in front of her. The kitchen was once again spotless, with all the utensils and ingredients neatly organized.
After cleaning up the mess from her last baking disaster, and Tang Xue Mei was determined to try again.
With a deep breath, Tang Xue Mei began gathering the ingredients for her second attempt at baking a cake. This time, she was determined to do it right.
In a separate bowl, Tang Xue Mei mixed together the dry ingredients - the flour, sugar, and baking powder. She whisked them together until they were well combined, making sure to get rid of any lumps.
In another bowl, she mixed together the wet ingredients - the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. She whisked them together until they were smooth and creamy, making sure to get rid of any air pockets.
Finally, Tang Xue Mei added the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing them together until they were just combined. She didn’t overmix, knowing that would lead to a dense cake.
She poured the batter into a greased cake pan, sliding it into the oven.
She had a feeling, it would come out nicely this time.
"You’re doing great, more composed this time.."
Leia took note as she watched, she could tell the cake would come out better than the first one.
Twenty-five minutes later, the timer went off, and Tang Xue Mei opened the oven door to reveal a perfectly golden-brown cake. She let out a whoop of excitement, doing a little dance in front of the oven.
"Haha..the feeling of accomplishment.." Leia chuckled as she stood up and walked to the oven, it looked even better, more than she had imagined.
She opened the oven door, and a warm, sweet aroma wafted out, making her stomach growl with anticipation.
"Wow you’ve outdone yourself!"
As Leia took the cake out of the oven, Tang Xue Mei couldn’t help but hold her breath. Would it be a success this time? Would it be the perfect cake she had been dreaming of?
And then, she saw it. The cake was golden brown, with a perfectly rounded top and a delicate crumb. It was beautiful, and it smelled amazing.
She let the cake cool, her patience wearing thin as she waited to taste it. Finally, the moment of truth arrived, and Tang Xue Mei took a bite of the cake.
The flavor exploded in her mouth, a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The texture was moist and fluffy, with just the right amount of crumb. It was perfect, and Tang Xue Mei knew it.
"It tastes good on your second attempt, I’m surprised you were able to balance the sugar level so well.."
She let out a sigh of relief, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over her. She had done it. She had finally made something that looked both pleasing to the eyes and sweet to eat.
"Let’s ice this baby shall we?"
But wait," Tang Xue Mei said, peering over Leia shoulder. "How do you make white icing?"
Leia grinned, happy to show Tang Xue Mei how to make it. "It’s easy," she said. "You just need three ingredients: powdered sugar, butter, and milk."
Tang Xue Mei
nodded, taking notes as Leia continued. "First, you cream the butter until it’s light and fluffy. Then, you slowly add the powdered sugar, beating until it’s smooth and creamy."
"And what about the milk?" Tang Xue Mei asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"Ah, that’s the key to getting the right consistency," Leia said. "You add the milk a little at a time, until the icing reaches the perfect thickness. Not too thin, not too thick.
As they worked, they chatted and laughed, their banter and jokes filling the kitchen with warmth and joy.
The icing was the perfect complement to the cake, adding a rich, creamy flavor that enhanced the sweetness of the vanilla. Tang Xue Mei stepped back, admiring their handiwork.
"It’s looks amazing and then little strawberries for topping.."
Tang Xue Mei licked her lips as she stared at the cake, she couldn’t wait to take a bite.
"We have to share this with auntie Gu and the others.."
Drawing out her phone, Tang Xue Mei took a picture, she couldn’t wait to rub it in Feng Shihan’s face that was a good baker.
"Leia I can see you know your way around the kitchen, teach me how to bake more things!"
Leia smiled and nodded she was only good at baking when it came to cooking, she wasn’t as good.
"I will try to the best if my abilities bit for now you did a really good job. You made a lot of progress on your second try.."
Tang Xue Mei nodded, though she did not like the feeling of being in the kitchen too much or perhaps she just wasn’t used to it.
"I’m going to take a slice, the babies can’t wait any longer..." Tang Xue Mei raised the knife lettikg out a cute smile.
