Chapter 165: Can see near death(1)
Tang Xue Mei and Auntie Gu we’re enjoying each other’s company. When the door opened and Elena walked in.
"Elena?"
"Ken placed me in patrol today since like our little friends are going to come out and play.."
Auntie Gu glanced at Elena wearily, she had aura around her that made her feel uneasy.
"Oh auntie Gu, this is Elena..she’s my....bodyguard..."
Tang Xue Mei felt it was too much of an hassle telling auntie Gu that she was actually an hit man hired to protect her.
"Auntie..."
Elena bowed as she walked to the window, the building next to them for the perfect spot for these assassins to shot.
"Can the be moved?"
Elena asked as she closed the windows, the assassins would have a clear shot if they were in this side of the room but if they were to be on the other side.
They wouldn’t be able to get a clear shot.
"Heavens are you really a bodyguard?"
Auntie Gu gasped seeing Elena take out her sniper rifle and setup on the widow stand.
"I’m not your typical bodyguard.."
"The bed’s not moveable..."
Auntie Gu answered Elena’s question after searching for wheels on the bed but couldn’t find any.
"Mhm...from that angle maybe a shot in the leg, I’m sure she can handle it.."
Tang Xue Mei instinctively drew her legs making Elena chuckle.
"But that’s why am here, to protect you...so feel free to go to sleep.."
Tang Xue Mei sighed who could to sleep after seeing a rifle.
"I’ll go lay down for a while, please remember to wake me up when you need something.."
Tang Xue Mei nodded, despite knowing that the assassins would come today, she couldn’t bear to tell auntie Gu who had been running around all morning not to get some rest.
"You don’t have to worry, just me being here makes this hospital the safest place. So auntie Gu please enjoy your sleep.."
"It’s time," he whispered. "We move in now. Take out the guards, clear a path to her room. Number 2 will take position here, just in case we need to take a shot from a distance."
One of the assassins, a thin, wiry man with a sniper rifle, nodded and broke away from the group. From the rooftop, he would have a clear shot at Tang Xue Mei’s room.
The leader and the remaining assassin moved swiftly and silently, taking out the guards one by one. They worked with precision, their movements cautious and quiet. Within minutes, they had cleared a path to Tang Xue Mei’s room.
The leader nodded to his companion, and they crept into the room, their eyes fixed on their target. Tang Xue Mei lay sleeping, her chest rising and falling with each gentle breath. Auntie Gu’s snores continued, undisturbed by the presence of the assassins.
The leader raised his hand, and his companion froze, waiting for the signal to strike. But just as the leader was about to give the order, a faint noise echoed from outside the room. The sound of footsteps, light and cautious, but growing louder with each passing second.
The leader’s eyes narrowed, his gaze darting towards the door. Who was it? A nurse, come to check on Tang Xue Mei? Or someone else, someone who might disrupt their mission?
He motioned to his companion, and they both melted into the shadows, waiting to see who would enter the room. The tension lingered as the air grew thick with anticipation. One wrong move, and their mission would be compromised.
As the leader and his companion approached Tang Xue Mei, Elena emerged from the shadows, her presence like a dark storm cloud.
Her piercing gaze swept over the assassins, and they instinctively took a step back, their eyes widening when they saw who it was.
"Elena! Why the heck is Elena here?!"
The second assassin screamed inwardly, screw this mission, he was going to die now this woman had suddenly appeared.
The leader, trying to salvage his pride, sneered at Elena. "You think you can stop us, hitman? We have the upper hand here."
Elena’s smile was cold and calculated. "I don’t think so, I know so. You’re no match for me, and I’m going to enjoy taking each of your lives. The king called me in himself, this is the one mission you’re not supposed to accept."
The assassins exchanged uneasy glances, their confidence wavering.
It was obvious that they were going to die so why not die trying.
The leader, trying to regain control, raised his gun, but Elena was quicker.
With a swift motion, she disarmed him and sent his gun flying across the room. Second assassin realized they were outmatched and turned to flee, but Elena was too fast. She caught him with a swift kick, sending him crashing to the floor.
The assassin in the building roof next door, witnessed the scene and, hesitated, unsure of what to do.
Tang Xue Mei,opened her eyes now that Elena has gotten control of the situation.
Auntie Gu, still groggy from her short sleep, rubbed her eyes, trying to process the sudden chaos. "What...what’s happening?"
Elena’s gaze never left the assassins. "Just a little cleanup, Auntie Gu. Don’t worry, I’ve got this under control."
The room was silent, the only sound the heavy breathing of the assassins.
"So tell me who do you work for?"
Elena crouched down as she pointed the gun at the leader’s face.
"I’m not telling you anything.." he spat back and spat on Elena’s face.
"Disgusting.."
Elena wiped her face and landed a punch on his face, no dared to disrespect her this mouth.
"I’m going to give you two choice, tell me who you work for and give you a quick and painless death but if you don’t...I will torture you until I pry it out of you and then I’ll continue until you die..very very slowly, it’s would be painful but very slow. You’ll beg for death but you won’t see it.."
"Ju Jing, the woman who hired us..we traced her and found out that’s her name.."
Tang Xue Mei’s eyes widened when she heard Ju Jing’s name. She had already started plotting her death, then she needed to be careful, the accident that leads to her blindness or miscarriage isn’t too far then.
Elena’s eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing the souls of the assassins. "You should have stayed out of this, boys. Now, I’m going to have to kill you."
With a swift motion, she cocked the gun from her and advanced on the leader. He tried to scramble away, but Elena was too quick. She fired a single shot, hitting the leader square in the chest. He crumpled to the floor, his life slipping away.
"Oh..I missed? I’ll get back to you later..."
The second assassin gulped seeing Elena turn towards him and began to beg for mercy. "P-please, don’t kill me. I’ll do anything."
Elena’s smile was cruel. "You should have thought of that before you took the job. Now, you’re just a loose end that needs to be tied up."
She fired another shot, hitting him in the head. He slumped to the floor, his eyes frozen in a permanent stare.
But Elena wasn’t finished yet. She knew there was still one more assassin, the sniper in the building next door. She quickly scanned the area, her eyes locked on the roof of the adjacent building.
With a swift motion, she raised the rifle, carefully aiming at the assassin and fired a shot through the window.
The sniper’s cry of pain echoed through the night as he fell to the ground.
Elena’s gaze never wavered, her eyes fixed on the bodies at her feet. "That’s taken care of," she said, her voice cold and detached.
"Well that leaves only you.."
The leader breathed heavily as he stared at Elena coldly, he sighed somehow he knew this job would kil him but he took it anyways.
"We would have gotten away with it if you weren’t here...haha.."
Blood spilled out of his mouth and he breathed his last breath.
"This Dr. Jeong you know him personally right? We need to get this bodies out of here without causing a scene.."
Tang Xue Mei nodded only Dr. Jeong would be able to take care of this without word getting out.
"Ai Yah, this is too much for this old woman.."
