Dr. Ryu finished his review of the files and turned to Tang Xue Mei. "I think I have a good understanding of your father’s condition," he said. "Jeong you did an excellent job in documenting his treatment, and I appreciate the thoroughness of this notes."
Tang Xue Mei nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards both Dr. Jeong and Dr. Ryu. She knew that her father was in good hands, and that gave her a sense of hope.
"What’s next?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Dr. Ryu smiled. "I’d like to run some additional tests with Jeong to confirm my suspicions," he said. "But I think we’re on the right track."
Tang Xue Mei smiled maybe things would look up from now on.
"Alright I’ll head out, I’ll things to you and Dr. Jeong.."
Dr. Jeong nodded and lead Tang Xue Mei out of the room. "You father is in good hands.."

Su Huiying stepped off the plane in Vágar, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness as she gazed out at the unfamiliar landscape of the Faroe Islands. The rugged hills, steep cliffs, and sparkling waterfalls stretched out before her, a vast and untouched wilderness that was both beautiful and intimidating.
As she made her way to Tórshavn, the capital city, Su Huiying couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder at the colorful houses, with their grass-covered roofs and white-painted walls, that seemed to glow in the soft light. The architecture was a mix of old and new, with traditional Faroese homes alongside modern buildings that seemed to blend seamlessly into the landscape.
"This place is beautiful..."
The driver nodded and he’ll happily show her the whole of Torshavn tomorrow but right now they always allowed their new vistors to get a good night’s rest before they show them the wonders of the place they called home.
"I can’t wait for the tour tomorrow, please remember to pick me up very early.."
Her condo, nestled in a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of town, was a warm and welcoming space that seemed to envelop her in a sense of comfort and tranquility.
The top-flooring of the condo had a stunning view of the sea and surrounding mountains, and Su Huiying felt a sense of awe as she gazed out at the breathtaking vista.
She even got welcome gifts from her neighbors, ahjummas and ahjussi around the same age as her who’s children were all abroad.
As she settled into the condo, she began to unpack and get familiar with her new surroundings.
"Would you like dinner madam? We made a lot of our famous dishes and come of our local favorite if you would like to try that.."
The house help smiled, her voice filled with respect when she spoke to Su Huiying.
"Barbara right?"
The house help nodded and smiled, she looked young and even younger with her auburn hair tied into a bun.
"You’re awfully young to be a house help...how old are you?"
"33"
"..."
Su Huiying was surprised and her she thought she was still looking 30 at 41 but Barbara she beat her to it.
By looking 18 at 33, she stroked her chin she also realized the people here also looked younger than their age.
"You’re not married?"
"I was, madam but I lost my husband and my daughter she’s in high school in another city.."
Su Huiying sighed so it was like that, no wonder she worked so hard.
"I also have daughters, this house belongs to her husband but you’re much more older than she is, she’s only 21 and the other is 22.."
Barbara smiled she bet the madam’s daughters were beauties just like their mother.
"I’ll be with you shortly, just need to take a bath and give my daughters a call.."
Barbara nodded and closed the heading back to the kitchen to continue her duties.
Su Huiying sighed as she wiped her tears, her husband was in coma and here she was having a vacation.
And she didn’t know what was worst her growing guilt or her deepening love of the Island and it’s people.
"I wish we could both spend this time together Zijun.."
She got up and placed the remaining clothes in the closet, she placed the suitcase inside in a corner and closed it.
After her bath, Barbara happily filled the table with different Faroese delicacies.
"I thought I’ll make some of the dishes the tourists here, love so much like fish cakes, lamb stew with dark rye bread, smoked salmon, steamed pudding and rhubarb tart.."
Su Huiying eyes widened as she brought out her phone and took pictures, she must show Xue Mei all these delicious food.
"Photos for my daughters.."
As the evening drew to a close, Su Huiying stepped out onto the balcony, feeling the cool night air and listening to the sound of seagulls and the distant rumble of the ocean. The stars twinkled above, creating a sense of magic and wonder.
"The stars are more beautiful here and they shine so brightly.."
She took a deep breath, feeling the weight of her emotions as she pulled out her phone and dialed her daughter’s number.
"Hey, sweetie," Su Huiying said, her voice trembling as her Tang Xue Mei answered. "I just wanted to call and tell you how beautiful it is here. The Faroe Islands are even more stunning than I expected. The scenery, the people... everything is just so lovely."
"I’m glad you like it there Mum, I’m almost jealous.."
There was a pause on the other end of the line and Tang Xue Mei could sense her mother’s worry. "What’s wrong, Mom?" she asked.
Su Huiying took another deep breath, her gaze drifting out to the rugged landscape before her. "I just feel guilty, kiddo. I know I needed to get away, but leaving your father when he’s in a coma... it doesn’t feel right. I keep thinking about how he’d want me to be here, experiencing this incredible place, and how I’m doing it without him."
Tang Xue Mei sighed it was the only way to ensure her safety, she opened her mouth, her voice soft and reassuring. "You needed this, Mom. You’ve been crying silently for such a long time. It’s unhealthy, so take it as a little a break away from things. Besides, Dad would want you to be happy."
Su Huiying nodded and sighed, she just wished things didn’t have to be this way. "You’re right, sweetie. I just wish he could be here with me, enjoying this beauty and meeting the wonderful people I’ve met."
As they talked, Su Huiying felt a sense of melancholy washed over her, but Tang Xue Mei’s words of comfort helped to ease the guilt that had been weighing on her.
She took another deep breath, letting the fresh air fill her lungs, and smiled, feeling a sense of peace settle in.
365 more days and she and Tang Zijun would be reunited again.
Su Huiying continued talking about the island and Tang Xue Mei happily listened.
"I wish you could see the colors of the houses, sweetie," Su Huiying said, her eyes scanning the vibrant buildings below. "They’re so bright and cheerful, it’s like the whole town is smiling. And the people... they’re all so kind and friendly. I feel like I’ve found a little piece of heaven here."
Tang Xue Mei laughed on the other end of the line. "You’re making me want to come visit, Mom." It would be nice to run away from everything even if it was just for a day.
Su Huiying’s heart skipped a beat at the thought. "You should, kiddo. You really should. I think you’d love it here."
"I wish I could mom, but I have to stay here and make sure things are in orders.."
Su Huiying sighed but she had 365 days to stay here, she was sure there would definitely be an opportunity for Tang Xue Mei to come visit.
As they chatted, Su Huiying wandered out to the edge of the balcony, her gaze drifting out to the sea. She felt the ocean breeze rustle through her hair, and for a moment, she closed her eyes, letting the peacefulness of the scene wash over her.
"I’m sorry again, sweetie," Su Huiying said, her voice softer now. "I know I shouldn’t be feeling guilty, but it’s hard not to when your father is lying in a hospital bed and I’m here enjoying the view.."
