Chapter 98: 2 years

Another year has passed, which means I’ve been with the mistress for 2 full years now, and I must say I’ve made progress that really excites me the mistress has started to smile a little more.

Her smiles are beautiful to observe, like a lovely flower blooming after being cared for so long.

She seems much less cold than in the beginning, although her smiles are still rare, they occur far more often than in the past, and the state of the mansion is also great.

Whether inside or out, I’ve done an exceptional job, though I know a professional wouldn’t have taken two years to do this, but since I’m someone who knew nothing, I’d say I’ve done a great job.

I managed to learn several things on my own, and so the inside of the mansion is 100% repaired and functional, leaving only the outside to be fixed.

The outside has also seen some progress, I’ve cut the vines, the grass, and other things that needed it, and I’ve repaired some walls, it didn’t turn out as good, but it helps a lot.

I repaired part of the roof very carefully so as not to slip and end up falling and dying, so the roof only had some basic repairs that I could do without risking too much.

And with the paint that was delivered, I painted some parts of the outside of the mansion, making it much more presentable, unfortunately I couldn’t see who delivers the things that are delivered once every 3 days.

Strangely, even while drinking coffee, I always fall asleep at the time of the delivery, and when I wake up, the things are out there, and since this always happens, I’ve given up on trying to see who delivers the things.

I’m probably being forced to sleep at that moment, which unfortunately practically screams vampire, but of course, like many things in the mansion, I ignore these warnings.

I also learned to cook various things, the mistress gave me a recipe book with illustrations as a "birthday" present, even though it wasn’t my birthday.

She said it was a gift for the day I arrived at the mansion, and she really thanked me for all the help, even saying that my "innocent" presence helped her with some problems.

Although I’m not sure what she meant, but I was very happy to be recognized and to hear that she was happy with my presence, it shows that all the effort of the last 2 years has been worth it.

Unfortunately, what I thought was "confirmed" strange sounds happen in the mistress’s room on various days, they sound like "pain" sounds, but they’re different from a groan of pain, so I can’t say for sure.

Along with these sounds, I heard murmurs and another voice, confirming that someone else was entering the mistress’s room and then disappearing, which can only be a vampire for me since entering the mansion is not that easy.

And the "guest" could only be entering and leaving through the window, but doing so without making noise as a normal human is practically impossible given the vegetation in the mansion.

I don’t know what they do in the room, and to avoid causing trouble or irritating the mistress, I ended up changing rooms, I didn’t want to move away, but this was the best option, staying there listening to those sounds was bothering me.

And if this continued, I might end up trying to enter the room to see, and then the mistress would get angry and I would have unnecessary problems.

I just hope the mistress doesn’t get hurt or injured... As for the mistress being a vampire, it’s hard to say, aside from the strange things about her, there’s nothing extra that indicates she is a vampire.

She goes out in the sun, she eats my food, she doesn’t try to suck my blood directly, taking only what’s in the food and doing normal people things.

Aside from her obsession with books and strange drawings, she’s completely normal, of course there’s the fact that small wounds on her heal almost instantly, but that shouldn’t be a big deal.

’Where is she... she’s not in her room... so maybe she’s out there?’

At the moment I’m looking for the mistress and through the window I see her reading the book under a tree, she usually avoids the sun, but I’ve already seen her in the sun and she’s not being hurt by it.

Maybe my knowledge of vampires is too limited, so I can’t prove anything, after all, all I know about vampires is what my mom and dad told me.

And what they said was really limited, just the basics for me to identify a vampire and also warnings to never get close to one, apart from saying that I should never become a vampire hunter, as it’s too dangerous a profession.

’She’s beautiful like that...’ I think as I look at my mistress, she is easily the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

She’s holding a strange book, lately she’s been appearing with strange books, they weren’t delivered along with the others, but they’re also not from her library.

So I think the mysterious person who appears in her room was the one who gave her the book, she also seems more content and happy whenever that person appears in her room.

If she’s happy, I’m happy too, I may not know who it is that keeps showing up frequently, but the mistress seems more satisfied with life, we’ve even had some longer conversations.

I start to go to the mansion door, holding a fruit for myself, the mistress doesn’t mind me taking things from the pantry, she actually said the things in the pantry are mine.

Although she’s still a bit cold, she’s very kind at times, as I step out of the mansion, I walk feeling the fresh air and the sunlight, I take a deep breath to feel the air as I walk up to her.

Seeing books she doesn’t mind and things she says, I can already understand some words in the book, although it’s just the basics and it took me almost a year just to learn this basic stuff.

’Blood... magic... full moon... vampire...’ I recognize these words from the book, they’re almost in sequence, indicating something, the mistress also tends to mutter a lot about magic.

"Okay, mistress! I won’t touch your things," I say excitedly at the fact that she agreed, in the past, she would just ignore me or send me away, my progress with her is remarkable.

"But let’s leave that for, after the next delivery of things, I need to order books to teach you..." She thinks for a moment before speaking.

"Now go prepare something for me to eat, and with extra sauce." I get up excitedly as I agree, she rarely asks me to make food for her.

Usually I’m the one bringing food to her, and she never eats much, so I need to make something really delicious for her to want to eat more of my food, after all, I’ve improved in the kitchen just to impress her.
