Chapter 108: Yeom

"..." After a few hours, Yeom came back to me, gently waking me up and offering me a bowl with something, probably some secret medicine due to the suspicious color.

Honestly, looking at that food that seemed to be twisting in pain and screaming curses, I was very reluctant to eat, imagining that I could die by eating what seemed to be a cursed liquid.

I drank it with fear, and surprisingly the taste was better than expected, and I really felt very strong for a few seconds while the medicine took effect. Of course, judging by Yeom’s disappointed expression, it wasn’t what she had expected.

It must have been some high-level healing medicinal compound, which was just a waste of something rare that didn’t serve any purpose. It’s a shame that she’s wasting these things for no reason, just because she believes in my lie.

"Is there a problem, Yeom?" I ask without much surprise at her reaction. She has always been very clear and expressive with her feelings, steamrolling over others and their desires as if they didn’t matter.

"...Haaa... it’s nothing. Would you like to go for a walk around the base with me?" She makes me a gentle invitation while she’s a little restless about everything, probably wanting something romantic, but not knowing how to express it well.

Or does she just want to do something else, I can’t know what’s going on in her head, and honestly, I don’t want to know what’s going on in the head of someone like her.

"Sure." I simply accept while Yui floats to sit on top of my head, enjoying the view. Yeom holds my hand and takes me to the clothes.

"Okay... wear this one." She grabs a white robe similar to a classic Japanese kimono that is relatively "healthy," but of course, a little transparent, which makes Yeom think I’m practically naked, especially with the white that reveals more than black.

But without caring much about it, I put on the clothes in front of her, even though she didn’t show much reaction. As for Yui, she gets embarrassed and closes her eyes, putting her little hands in front of them.

This is kind of cute, considering that as a life form, she shouldn’t be affected by something like the sight of a naked body.

"What do you think?" I give a slight twirl while she analyzes the dress on my body with precision. The kimono looks very good on me and is really very beautiful.

"You look beautiful as always. Now, let’s go, we don’t have much time." She holds my hand and starts walking. She’s a bit rough, but I follow her steps without much trouble.

As we walk, I look out the window. The surrounding forest is beautiful, and the fresh air of this world is wonderful. I like the purity of this world, as it shows how the technological world slowly destroys the world, which is terrible.

And it shows how the natural world is beautiful and does a lot of good for the body and mind just by existing.

Although the forest is full of traps, so it’s dangerous to go down there alone when I’m a commoner in terms of strength. So it’s beautiful and dangerous, not a very good or well-balanced mix.

"Shizune, do you feel a little better?" Yeom asks as we exit through a window since she’s someone who likes to take shortcuts or make her own paths by force.

So if there hadn’t been a window here, she would have broken the wall with her fists and passed through anyway, without caring about the work others would have to do to fix this place.

"No, I’m exactly the same as at the beginning." She flinches as if she had been struck. It must be terrible for her pride, not that her pride matters much to me.

"Yeom, why are you taking me to your special garden?" She normally doesn’t take anyone there, as that place holds some of the most valuable things she has, in addition to having a powerful defensive formation.

"I’m going to cure you right now!" She speaks with a bit of anger as if she’s talking to the curse itself, and they’re going to duel, and she’s going to win. It would be great if she won, but I don’t have any false hopes about that.

She opens the defensive formation of her personal garden while pulling me inside without much delicacy, practically dragging me along the path in a hurry. I wonder why she’s in such a rush to get there.

"Shizune, what do you think she’s going to do?" Yui asks with doubt. It seems like Yui has really stopped seeing things to avoid breaking any rules.

"I think maybe she’ll try to use relics." I murmur very softly for only Yui to hear. I doubt the angry Yeom will notice this anyway.

"But isn’t that just a waste that can harm you? Relics and excessive Murim techniques can kill you since you’re normal." When Yui says this, it really sounds dangerous.

Healing techniques, relics, and other things require a certain strength. There’s no way to give something at an extremely high level to a commoner. It won’t cure the person, it will only kill them.

"Yeom, you know that if you try to use too many healing techniques or powerful relics, I’ll die, right?" I say to Yeom as we arrive at the center of the garden, and she activates a formation.

"I know, you don’t need to tell me that. I’m going to use a formation that will only partially stagnate the time of your body. For 1 month, the general time of your body won’t pass, so I’ll have time to break your curse without it activating and killing you."

"Okay, then." I agree to this without much trouble. At least it won’t be something extremely absurd or that will kill me. It’s reassuring that it won’t be something dangerous for me.

It seems she really thinks I’m going to die if she’s willing to use this, which was made to save her life in case she receives a very dangerous injury. But if she wants to use it on me, I don’t have a problem with it.

Trying to deny it would just make everything awkward. It’s better for me to let her do what she wants and just wait for the result to be positive.

"Stand in the center of the formation." She speaks with an authoritative tone, leaving no room for me to choose. I step onto the circular formation and wait calmly for her to activate it. From what I can see of the place, the formation is a large golden circle on the ground.

It seems to have been made with some very rare materials. I say this because one of the materials on the ground appears to be "celestial stone," a material used in Yeom’s clothes that can withstand extremely powerful blows without even getting dirty.

"..."

"...Yeom, nothing is happening." I say without understanding what she’s doing. Nothing seems to have happened, even though she murmurs things and moves her hands. I think she’s failing or something.

"...Strange... it should have been active, but in these conditions, it’s as if there are two occupants in the formation." She speaks with puzzlement, automatically informing me of the correct answer.

"Y-Yui, move away." I murmur hastily. It can only be Yui’s fault. It seems that even though Yui is not visible, certain things related to the rules of the world still show her presence.

As soon as Yui floats away from the circular formation on the ground, a black and golden glow occurs, showing its functioning, while my body glows for a few seconds in a white and gray tone.

"Now it’s working. Maybe it was some wandering soul or something like that." Yeom murmurs now that the formation is functioning, while Yui returns to the top of my head. That was close. I didn’t think Yui would affect the formation.

"Yeom, what do you want to do now?" I’ll let her do whatever she wants, and if she releases me, I’ll try to study more things as I had planned before.

"For now, we can enjoy the days... if in 1 week I can’t cure you myself, we’ll go out, after all, we have 1 month before you’re really at risk. Shall we eat something?" Yeom says with a smile.

"Oh, I want to." I say excitedly. Finally, normal food without strange additions, no blood, just regular and delicious food. At least the food rules here are null.

So we have real food without many restrictions, rules, or the like, like in the orthodox sects. Unfortunately, I can’t expect anything absurd because there’s no modern technology in the food.

But anything is worth it for me as long as it’s tasty, edible, and doesn’t have abnormal additions for a common human to eat.

Yeom and I follow the path back peacefully, without her running in a hurry or trying to rush me to get to the destination quickly.

She’s no longer in such a hurry to walk with me, without pulling me or holding me tightly. She must have been very nervous about the possibility of me dying.

This is nice, and if she weren’t so dangerous, I would like to have someone who cares for me in this way.

"Yeom, thank you for worrying about me, but you don’t need to be too serious about my curse. I’m sure everything will be fine, and I’ll survive. Haha, I can’t die if it’s not by your hands." I say to her with an indirectly.

"...You’re right! I don’t need to worry so much. I’ll make sure you don’t die in any way!" Yeom speaks with confidence as if she could control my life, although, in a way, it’s not a lie.

’This is what I get for trying to cheer others up... tsk.’ There’s no point in trying to be nice and cheer them up when they just throw things like that in your face.
