My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back
Chapter 138: Turn The Fate

Chapter 138: Turn The Fate

Eryx stood still, the name lingering in the air like a threat, his gaze never leaving Gordon’s trembling form. The sound of the bat lowering echoed in the silence, and the tension seemed to leave the room like a vacuum.

Without a word, he turned sharply on his heel, his mind already focused on the next steps.

"Callum," Eryx’s voice was low, commanding. "Throw all the men in front of the main mansion. Let her see what happens when you play a game with me."

Callum, who had been waiting for the signal, immediately nodded and began making arrangements.

As the sound of Callum’s footsteps echoed behind him, carrying out the order, Eryx paused at the edge of the hallway, the cold draft from a broken window brushing against his skin. He let out a slow breath, his jaw tight.

Matilda Grantham.

He had always known she was ruthless when it came to power and control. But this... this was different. Trying to end his life, not just manipulate it, not just punish him, but end it? That shook something deep within him.

His fists clenched at his sides.

All his life, she’d treated him like a pawn, shaping him, pushing him, correcting him with cruelty she disguised as discipline. But never once had he believed she’d go this far.

"I guess I am useless now," Eryx muttered under his breath, more to himself than anyone else. "But to play with my life like it’s a piece on a board..."

Callum approached from behind, careful with his steps. "They’re being moved now, sir. Should be on her lawn in ten minutes."

Eryx gave a curt nod, his voice quieter now. "Good."

There was no point confronting her directly. Not yet. Let her open her front door to the mess she orchestrated, let her realize the line she crossed. And let her stew in the knowledge that he knew.

"Send word to the staff there," Eryx added. "Make sure she sees them. And tell them to say this exactly: ’He’s being generous. Letting you die of age instead of consequence.’"

Callum blinked, then nodded slowly. "Understood, sir."

At the hospital, Naomi sat on the examination bed, her fingers nervously tracing the edge of the sheet while Lunara stood beside her, eyes wide with excitement. She kept glancing at the monitor like she expected something magical to happen at any second.

"You think it’s gonna wave at me?" Lunara whispered, squinting at the blurry shapes on the black-and-white screen.

Naomi chuckled softly, some of the tension in her shoulders easing. "Ara, the baby is just 11 weeks."

Lunara pouted dramatically. "Still. It could be tried."

A soft laugh escaped Naomi as she leaned back, eyes shifting toward Regina, who stood quietly near the door. Her arms were crossed, but there was a calm look on her face. It wasn’t the cold expression Naomi had grown used to. It was softer now. Thoughtful.

Regina stepped forward slightly, gaze fixed on the screen. "Heartbeat looks strong," she said, her voice low, almost gentle. "That’s a good sign."

Naomi looked at her, caught off guard by the warmth in her tone. Regina rarely let her guard down. But today, seeing the first grandchild growing inside her daughter, something in her had shifted.

Lunara tilted her head. "So it’s healthy? Everything’s okay?"

The doctor, gently moving the ultrasound probe over Naomi’s belly, nodded. "Everything looks good so far. Let me show you the heartbeat." She glanced over at Regina. "Grandma too... come closer."

Regina hesitated for a second before stepping forward.

"See here?" the doctor pointed to the monitor. "That little blinking spot... that’s the baby’s heart."

Regina stared at the screen, her expression unreadable at first. But then her eyes softened, just a little. The rhythmic flicker on the screen was steady, strong. Alive.

Naomi watched her mother silently, unsure what to say.

"Ah, it’s so cute," Lunara muttered, and her words earned a soft chuckle from everyone in the room.

"Can you really see it?" Naomi asked, shaking her head slightly in disbelief.

The doctor smiled. "For now, it’s about the size of a bean. Still tiny, but growing well."

Regina nodded. "How about her?"

The question changed the air in the room.

The doctor gave a small nod, smiling with her eyes. "So far, both the mother and the baby are doing well. Just make sure Mommy eats properly." She glanced at Naomi, offering a soft, encouraging smile.

Just outside the doctor’s room, a man stood quietly near the emergency exit, phone pressed close to his ear. He had followed them all the way from the mansion, just as Valerie instructed. Though he blended easily with the foot traffic in the hallway, his eyes were sharp and focused, never straying far from the door Naomi and Lunara had gone through.

"They just finished the scan," he murmured into the phone. "It’s confirmed. Miss Naomi is pregnant."

There was a long pause before a woman’s voice crackled through the speaker, calm but laced with intent.

"Anyone else there?"

"Yes, ma’am. Regina is here too."

Another beat of silence. Then the voice spoke again, firmer.

"Stay there. Let me know the moment they leave."

The man nodded slightly even though no one could see him. "Understood." He hung up and leaned back against the wall, slipping the phone into his pocket. His expression remained unreadable, but he knew one thing for sure, his employer was pleased.

Valerie stood in front of her mirror, twisting an earring into place as she listened to the final update. Her reflection was calm, her lips curled into a satisfied smirk.

"Well," she whispered, tilting her head slightly. "Looks like God just handed me the perfect opportunity."

Her gaze sharpened, as if she could see Lunara’s face reflected in the silvered glass.

"Let’s turn Eryx... no, the whole family, against you," Valerie muttered, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "And remind him of where he truly belongs."

She straightened her shoulders, the smile on her lips curving with cold purpose.

"I’m taking him back, Lunara. One way or another."

She hadn’t just been hoping and had been depending on fate to turn things around. And now, it had finally handed her the chance she’d been waiting for.
