My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back -
Chapter 133: Almost Three Months
Chapter 133: Almost Three Months
"I said stop!" Eryx’s voice echoed through the wide, dimly lit hall. The clock had already struck midnight, but neither of them seemed ready to sleep.
"I don’t want to talk about it now. Can you just let me rest?" Naomi spun around, her eyes rimmed red, whether from anger, exhaustion, or the weight of everything left unsaid, it was hard to tell.
"At least tell me what happened! What the hell is this about an abortion? And how far along are you?" Eryx stood frozen, his chest rising and falling with barely controlled frustration. The image of his little sister being dragged into something so serious without his knowledge made his blood boil.
"What? You’re not going to tell me to abort the baby too?" Naomi smirked bitterly, channeling all her anger at the only one standing in front of her.
"I... am asking, Naomi Grantham! I didn’t say anything about aborting that innocent life! I need to know everything so I can help you, you should know that." Eryx exhaled sharply, trying to calm himself. "Now, tell me... are you still seeing that jerk?"
Naomi’s eyes shifted. She rubbed her ear, a nervous habit, as tears threatened to spill. Ever since she’d confirmed her pregnancy, controlling her emotions had become nearly impossible. "Nope." She bit her lip.
Eryx stepped closer, his voice softening. "How many weeks already?"
Naomi shook her head slowly. "Almost three months."
There was a pause. The kind that felt heavy, too full for silence.
Eryx ran a hand through his hair and let out a frustrated sigh. "Three months... and you didn’t think to tell me?"
"I didn’t know how," she said weakly. "You would’ve stormed in like you always do. I needed to figure it out on my own."
Eryx sneered. "You have a family, Naomi. And you really thought you were big enough to figure it out all on your own?"
Naomi snapped. "Because I was scared, Eryx! I was scared and alone and I didn’t know who to turn to! Ryan freaked out, I was confused, and I didn’t want to deal with you losing your temper on top of everything else!"
Her voice cracked as her tears finally spilled over. "I didn’t even know if I could keep it. I didn’t know anything. I still don’t."
Eryx’s face changed instantly. The anger in his expression melted into something heavier like guilt, concern, helplessness.
He stepped forward, slower this time. "Naomi..."
"I didn’t plan any of this," she whispered, covering her face with both hands. "And now I’m pregnant, and he doesn’t want it, and I myself need to be strong, but I’m so damn scared, Eryx. You don’t know this feeling!"
Without another word, he pulled her into a firm hug.
"I’m sorry," he said quietly, holding her like she might fall apart if he let go. "I shouldn’t have yelled." He gently rubbed the back of her shoulders. "You don’t need to handle this alone. Let’s figure this out... together."
"What happened?"
A voice from the stairs made both of them look up.
Eryx instantly spotted Lunara at the top of the staircase, looking half-asleep in her oversized T-shirt. He managed a small smile and then shifted his gaze back to Naomi. "Let’s talk more tomorrow. And Naomi..." He paused. "Everyone in the family needs to know."
Naomi gave a weak nod, not trusting her voice to say more. She watched as Eryx turned and headed upstairs toward Lunara.
"Still not asleep?" he asked, stopping just in front of her.
Lunara shook her head. "I was, but I suddenly woke up and got thirsty. I came down to get some water and... saw you two." She glanced past him, her eyes softening as they landed on Naomi. "Is she okay?"
Eryx looked over his shoulder, then nodded slightly. "She will be. She just needs some time."
Lunara stepped closer, her voice barely above a whisper. "Is there something wrong?"
Shaking his head, Eryx gently caressed Lunara’s hair, "You need to wait a bit longer for Naomi to open up her heart and tell us her story, okay?"
Lunara gazed down at Naomi, who was still standing motionless in the middle of the hall. "She doesn’t look okay."
"Hm..." Eryx pressed his lips into a thin line. "Let me get you a glass of water." He turned and hurried down the stairs, disappearing into the kitchen.
Lunara stayed where she was, silently watching Naomi. Their eyes met, and something in Naomi’s expression unsettled her. Without thinking twice, Lunara stepped down the stairs and walked slowly toward her.
"Are you okay? Is something wrong? You look really pale, Naomi." She stopped just in front of her and gently pressed her palm to Naomi’s forehead.
Naomi flinched slightly at the touch but didn’t move away. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears.
"You’re burning up," Lunara murmured, her concern deepening. "You should sit down. Have you eaten anything today?"
Naomi opened her mouth, but no words came out. Instead, she gave a small shake of her head, as if answering a dozen unspoken questions all at once.
Just then, Eryx returned with the glass of water.
"She’s burning," Lunara said, glancing worriedly at him.
Eryx’s expression tightened as he stepped closer. "Let’s take her to the hospital," he said, his voice sharp with panic.
Lunara hesitated, brows furrowed. "Maybe she can take some paracetamol first? Just to see if her fever goes down?"
Naomi, still barely able to stand, finally whispered, "I don’t want to go anywhere. I just need to rest..."
"You’re not well," Eryx insisted, placing a firm hand on her shoulder. "We can’t risk it. Your pregnancy is still at an early stage."
Eryx’s words sent an echo to Lunara’s ear. She was sure she heard it clearly. Frowning, she looked at Eryx, "What did you just say? Did I hear it wrong? You just said, Naomi is pregnant, right?"
The question left the air in the hall becoming heavy and Lunara looked at both of them waiting for the answer.
