My Blacksmith System: Transforming my Weapons into Beautiful Maidens -
Chapter 55: Power difference
Chapter 55: Power difference
Angered, Satella gripped the side of her neck, her face twisted with disgust.
"How dare you lay your filthy hands on me?!" she shouted, her anger acting against her very words.
At first, Rashin stood there, considering what could have happened, but after some time, he made the decision to launch yet another attack.
His blade was gripped tightly in his hands as he got closer to his target.
As he got close, he noticed Echidna didn’t move a muscle. It didn’t seem like she was planning to attack or defend.
Perhaps she was that confident in her defense. Rashin didn’t care—all he wanted to do was kill her and get it over with.
Reaching close proximity, he ran the dagger through her head, blood spewing all over as he dug it even deeper.
In the blink of an eye, Echidna was standing at a safe distance, while he was simply there, the feeling of the blade digging into her flesh still lingering in his hands.
’Uhn... it happened again,’ Rashin thought to himself, and while he had a calm look the whole time, he was still slightly worried.
This was the second time he was certain he killed her, and yet she was standing there, unfazed and uninjured.
Running out from the mansion were Eri and Yuri, both of them carrying loads of worry on their faces.
Yuri the most.
The moment she got a glimpse of Rashin, she pushed herself off Eri’s arms and fell to the ground.
"Rashin!!!" she called out with every single ounce of strength in her vocal cords.
It was loud enough for Rashin to hear. He turned his gaze to the side, and there he could see Yuri crawling on the floor, desperation hitched on her face.
"D... don’t fight! I beg of you!!!"
’Is she telling me not to fight with Echidna?’ Rashin thought to himself.
Well, not like he was going to agree to that to begin with. The fact it was a Hakia was all the more reason why he wanted to kill her.
Suddenly, Yuri shouted yet again, ignoring the pissed-off gaze Echidna threw her way.
"She can reverse time! No matter what you do, she won’t be able to die!"
’What?’
Just in that brief second Rashin looked away, only to get caught in a surprise attack.
Somehow, Echidna was right in front of him, her hand covering his face as she slammed him to the ground with a huge amount of force.
Before Rashin could react, she raised him up and crashed his back against the mansion while flying.
She continued to press him against the wall, using his body as a shield until she was on the other side of the mansion, where she then threw Rashin away like dirt.
His body tumbled on the ground before finally coming to a stop beside a small pond.
On his knees, he raised his head to see Echidna hovering in front of him.
"Oh my, what’s with that look? Are you finally realizing the predicament you’re in?" Echidna said with an evil smile.
Flicking her finger, she sent a ball of shadow toward Rashin, the attack meeting Rashin in the gut and sending him flying.
This time, he came to a stop on a boulder, his back sliding against the wall before settling on the ground.
Still flying, Echidna moved closer, her hand on her waist while watching Rashin try to stand to his feet.
"Just so you know, throwing that dagger won’t exactly help your cause. Believe me," Echidna suddenly said.
This not only caught Rashin off guard, since he was indeed planning on throwing a dagger, but it also made him question what kind of people she wielded.
According to Yuri, Echidna was supposed to be the sixth strongest Hakia, having the power to be invulnerable—or so he thought.
Yuri now telling him she could turn back time took things down a spiraling toll, as Rashin could not think of a simple way to counter such an ability.
How far back in time does she go? How many times can she utilize this ability? Is there really no limit to it?
Rashin analyzed every question while standing to his feet, the blue flames healing his injuries.
"Are you not going to ask?" Echidna teased. "Don’t you want to know what Yuri meant when she said I could go back in time?"
Rashin was silent, wondering what she was going on and on about.
"Go on, I won’t be selfish. Considering you’d be dead soon, this is the least I can do for your human life," Echidna smiled sinisterly.
Rashin raised his blade and pointed it at her. "You seem to be misunderstanding the situation here. I am not here to negotiate or make friends with you. Hurry up and die. Your voice annoys me."
For a brief second, Echidna almost let her anger get the best of her, her aura flowing through her body as she was more than ready to end Rashin’s life.
But for some reason, she didn’t.
Instead, she placed one hand on her waist, her eyes glued to Rashin.
"Tough guy, you look like the kind to foolishly charge headfirst into a war just so you can kill an enemy. Brave yet foolish. I’d like you to understand how different we are in terms of strength, and as such, I’ll explain to you the power I possess."
Rashin didn’t have time for all that.
If physical attacks didn’t work on her, he planned on using magic—the flames he got from his maiden.
Covering his fist in black flames, Rashin was about to charge forward when, from nowhere, shadow strings grew from the ground beneath him and pinned him there.
He could not move. The more force he added, the tighter the strings of the shadows seemed to be.
More and more strings grew from the ground until Rashin’s body was completely covered, almost like he was a cocoon of webs.
Seeing that Rashin could not move from her trap, Echidna began—
"Now then, where was I? Oh right, I wanted to tell you the type of power I possess, now wasn’t I?"
