Chapter 48: Rebuild.

The following day, people could be seen cleaning up the entire place. With most of the buildings already burnt to the ground, they had no choice but to move to the next village.

The barony had two villages, and the other one was where most of the trade took place. It was big enough to accommodate everyone from the former village.

From what the people knew, the explosion that happened the previous night was a result of their lady losing control of her powers.

Thankfully, Rashin was there. He and his friends saved them from being burnt to a crisp—or at least, according to the story Eri told them.

Fina, Seriphina’s personal maid, supervised the entire process, making sure the relocation was going according to plan.

Meanwhile, in the second mansion—

"Who would have thought you had a second village? And on top of that, you’re royalty. Geez, and here I thought you were just a simple girl obsessed with my Rashin," Eri said as she looked to the side, her cheeks puffed.

She was seated on the couch, her hand calmly resting under her jaw.

At the center of the room was a long glass table with a red flower vase on it.

The room was huge, big enough to contain the bed Rashin was asleep on and the two white couches Seriphina and Eri sat on.

Responding to Eri’s comment, Seriphina raised her hand. "Oh no, no, it’s not like that, I promise. A baron is by far the lowest rank in royalty."

"Who cares about rank when you have money?" Eri waved her hand nonchalantly. "If I had this much, I wouldn’t even bother raiding dungeons with Rashin."

The mention of his name was enough to make Seriphina look at the ground and start thinking, her earlier smile slowly fading.

Of course, Eri noticed this and gave a small sigh.

"So? Tell me, what happened to the Hakia? Did... you know..." she asked.

"Are you asking if she is dead?"

Eri nodded.

Seriphina first looked at the sleeping Rashin before turning her focus back to Eri.

"No, she’s not dead. She’s... pretty much alive," Seriphina replied.

"Oh, I see."

Eri was not exactly surprised. Truthfully, she never expected Rashin to kill her. Then again, he wasn’t a monster. After what she told him, it was only normal that he reconsidered.

The Hakia inside Seriphina was formerly a human.

"Do you not hate her?" Eri asked another question.

"I... don’t know," Seriphina replied with a soft smile. "She did kill my parents, so I guess I should hate her for that. But we share the same feelings, so you could say I understand everything from her side of the story. Besides, if Rashin gave her a second chance, I feel I can do the same."

"Ohhh? Interesting," Eri muttered, her face calm as she looked to the side.

"I still don’t know what Rashin did, though. He hasn’t woken up yet, or else I would have asked him. I had a difficult time removing that Hakia from your body. So what did he do? Did he pull her out forcefully, or...?"

"Uhmm..."

Seriphina turned her gaze to where Rashin was sleeping again, then sighed, a nervous expression playing on her face.

"She’s still inside me. You could say I have more control over her than she does over me. She can’t mess with my body as she wishes anymore."

"And?"

"Well, see, the thing is... Even though she can’t mess with my body, she can still roam about freely... s-somehow."

"What do you mean, roam about?"

"I mean... she is right there."

Eri pointed toward Rashin’s bed.

And at the side of the bed was Yuki, using her finger to poke Rashin’s cheeks with a warm smile on her face.

She remembered a bit from her past—how she died and when she reincarnated. Though the face of the boy was still a bit blurry, she couldn’t help but think Rashin was the very boy she had tried to save once.

So, she had been clingy ever since she woke up.

Eri looked toward the same place but couldn’t see anything except an empty space and a side table.

"Ahhh, Seriphina? Are you sure you’re still good?" Eri uttered with worry.

Seriphina sighed. "Fina said the same thing when I told her this morning. Why does everyone immediately assume I’m not okay in the head?"

She then pointed in the same direction. "I’m telling you, I can see Yuki right there. Maybe I am the only one who can see her."

"So she’s right there, next to Rashin?"

"Yes."

"What is she doing?"

"She seems to be poking Rashin on the cheeks and smiling."

"Ahhh! Another competition!" Eri yelled at the ceiling. "Even a Hakia wants him now. That damn womanizer."

Thinking about it carefully, since Rashin was involved in the matter, he was probably aware before he did it.

As long as Yuki couldn’t harm anyone, Eri didn’t care that she could roam outside of Seriphina’s body.

Urrfh!

A slight groan left Rashin’s mouth.

Everyone in the room immediately looked in his direction with an astounded expression.

Yuki, who was even closer, already began to smile as she noticed Rashin’s eyebrow twitch slightly.

Eri and Seriphina sprinted toward the bed, both of them standing at the side to see if Rashin was truly waking up.

"I was sure I heard him make a noise just now," Eri uttered.

"Sshh! Just wait..." Seriphina spoke right after.

Suddenly, Rashin opened his eyes, a slight grunt leaving his mouth as the image before him began to clear up.

The first thing he saw was the ladies looking over him, enlightened smiles on their faces.

"Oh, how long was I out for?" he asked.

"Almost a full day. But still, welcome back," Eri uttered, both hands on her waist as she looked at Rashin with a smug demeanor.

"A full day..." he repeated to himself.

He remembered most of what happened before he collapsed to the ground from exhaustion. Whatever happened right after was a complete mystery to him.

Judging from Seriphina’s reaction to him waking up and the fact that he was sleeping on a very comfy bed, he quickly came to the conclusion that the aftermath of the attack had been taken care of.

Yuki could barely keep her eyes off him. Speaking wouldn’t do her any good since no one except for Seriphina could hear her.

So, all she could do was take in the feeling of being next to Rashin, her eyes completely glued to him.

"Seriphina?" Rashin looked at her. "Yuki... did it work?" he asked.

"Did what work?"

"I couldn’t bring myself to kill Yuki, so instead, I used a special skill I learned on her. I figured if she was weak, she wouldn’t be able to keep losing control of her powers," Rashin explained.

"So... that’s why she couldn’t..." Seriphina took a quick glimpse at Yuki.

"He really does have a good heart, doesn’t he?" Yuki said to Seriphina.

Seriphina could not respond, as she thought it would make her look like she was speaking to some sort of imagination.

"Killing me would be very easy, yet he didn’t. Though to him, he weakened me, in reality, all he did was cure me of the illness I suffered from for a very long time. Now, I have as much control over my powers as you do over your body."

Yuki immediately focused back on Rashin, her eyes having that spark again.

Seriphina couldn’t help but feel a bit of warmth from Yuki. The coldness she once harbored seemed to have completely vanished the moment she was with Rashin Montero.

Looking at the bed, Seriphina uttered, "Thank you. You really did save her like you promised."

Rashin replied, "You should thank Eri instead. If she didn’t reveal everything to me, I wouldn’t have had any idea about it. So really, you should thank her instead."

Seriphina nodded her head. "I don’t think she would want to talk to anyone other than you, to be honest."

"Yuki," Seriphina responded before pointing. "She’s right there."

Rashin slowly turned his head to the side. Though he could not see her, Yuki could clearly see him.

Their lips were almost touching.

Yuki blushed, her soft cheeks turning a bright shade of pink as she couldn’t keep her eyes off him.

His soft lips and clear skin—everything about him excited her.

"She’s right here?" Rashin asked.

"Yes," replied Seriphina.

"Well, I still think it’s not true. She’s a Hakia, after all. The angel’s curse should have caught up to her already," Eri spoke from the back.

Rashin was not listening to her.

With his hand blocking the side of his mouth, Rashin unknowingly moved his lips toward Yuki’s ear and whispered,

"I don’t know if you can hear me, but I’m glad you’re doing alright. If you need anything, please let me know, alright?"

Just the fact that Rashin whispered in her ear made Yuki explode with embarrassment.

She immediately looked to the ground, her entire face red, before nodding her head.

Seriphina, who witnessed their cuteness, couldn’t help but laugh.
