Chapter 30: Divine blessing

Bang!

The wagon shook to the side, almost tumbling over.

Eri and Daki, who had been sleeping at the back of the wagon, woke up, their eyes filled with alertness.

"Rashin!"

"Master!"

They both called out in unison as they jerked up from their seats.

As soon as Rashin heard their voices, he instinctively acted.

He could already see the panicked look on the driver’s face as he was more than ready to use the teleporting crystal.

Bash!

Rashin punched through the wood, only to grab the man by the neck and forcefully pin him down.

"Let go! Let me go! I don’t want to die! Ahahaha!" the man cried out loud.

Bang!

Another wolf slammed against the wagon, tipping it to the side.

"Ahhh!"

This did not help, as the man could only panic even more.

He could already see the giant dark-furred wolves flanking both sides of his wagon.

"Rashin! What was that just now?! What is going on?!" Eri moved closer, her face etched with worry.

Still grabbing the neck of the man, Rashin couldn’t think of the right words to say. His focus was on making sure the driver stayed.

If the driver disappeared as he planned, the entire group would be in a huge predicament.

The horses would run off course and eventually take them directly to their deaths.

"Look, man! You need to calm down. Nothing is going to happen to you, I promise! So stay still already!" Rashin tried to pin the man.

"Nuh-uh! Let me go! I have a family! I don’t wanna die because of some strangers!" the man yelled, squirming his arms and legs frantically.

Rashin frowned. If he couldn’t keep the man there, then his plan would slowly begin to fall apart.

"Dammit," he spat.

Daki yelled, her hands pointed out of the wagon.

"Master! Those wolf things are catching up. Should I handle it?"

Rashin gritted his teeth, contemplating for a while. That was when the idea hit him.

Turning his head, he asked, "Daki! Can I trust you to handle those wolves?!"

Daki’s face lit up.

Finally, she got to do something for her master. She had been waiting for moments like this ever since she was born.

"Ah- y-yes, Master! Leave it to me!"

"Good! Keep those wolves off us. Your life should be your priority!"

As Rashin said those words, he released his hold on the man’s neck.

What he heard right after—

"Teleport!"

The man was gone, leaving the reins with no rider to control them.

The horses began to neigh, clearly afraid now that their master was gone and the wolves were chasing them down.

"Asshole!" Rashin cursed as he began to squeeze himself through the hole he had made with his punch.

"Someone explain to me what is going on?! We are getting chased by what? Wolves? What happened to the driver? And why is Rashin slipping over to the driver’s side?! Someone answer me!"

Now sitting in the driver’s seat, Rashin stared at the reins for a while, chugging down his saliva before he grabbed them.

He had never ridden a horse before, nor did he understand how they felt or how to operate them.

But all that was going to change if his plan went well.

Rashin closed his eyes.

’I do not have the skill to ride this horse. I do not understand this horse. If I don’t do something, my friends will die, and I am not an exception. So I hence come before you, pleading... help me...’

The only sound Rashin could hear was the rhythmic thudding of the horses’ hooves as they ran and the loud growls of the wolves as they chased their prey.

And then...

[The goddess feels sad.]

[The goddess feels happy you called out to her.]

[She is overwhelmed.]

Rashin’s eyes widened as he stared at multiple templates appearing before him.

[The goddess approves.]

[You now have a Divine Blessing.]

Rashin shifted his gaze to the next template.

[Divine Blessing - Scholar.]

[This divine blessing allows you to learn and have talents for anything you haven’t seen before, as well as anything you have seen before.]

Immediately, a smile formed on Rashin’s face. "There we go!"

[The goddess watches over you with a look of love.]

Grabbing the reins even tighter, Rashin suddenly discovered he could now ride a horse. Perfectly.

"Yeehaw!" he yelled, controlling the horses so they could ride faster.

Meanwhile, at the back of the wagon—

Daki leaped down, creating a hard surface on the ground that she rode like a surfboard while holding a blade in one hand.

Slash!

She cut down one of the wolves that tried to pounce on her, its half-body falling to the ground as Daki made her way back into the wagon by leaping.

Catching her breath, she leaped back outside, creating the hard surface again.

Slash! Slash!

She fought with the relentless wolves, trying her very best to keep them away from the wagon.

From what she could tell, the more she fought them, the farther away the wagon got.

She needed to keep them occupied so her master could get away. Worrying about the distance was pointless since she could always just teleport to his side.

’I’ll make Master proud. Just you watch,’ she whispered to herself.

Daki boosted forward, shoving her throat into one of the wolves’ mouths before pinning it to the ground.

From within its mouth, Daki created a blade, stabbing it from the inside.

Before she could get up, another wolf showed up, trying to bite her from the back.

[Auto Dodge.]

A barrier immediately appeared, the wolf’s face crashing against it before falling to the ground.

’That was Master just now... he’s supporting me right now.’

She looked ahead, noticing Rashin was standing at the top of the wagon, aiming and killing the wolves with his bow.

’Master is supporting me.’

A smile appeared on Daki’s face as she sprinted forward, slicing the head off another wolf.

’As long as he’s supporting me... I can do anything... anything!’ Her face turned beet red as the blood from the wolf sprayed in front of her.
