Chapter 126: Chapter 105: Comprehensive Evolution of Chess Species, The World’s Pinnacle Wind (Seeking Monthly Tickets)_2
The main hall of the shrine was desolate, the columns rusty and mottled, and the old offerings piled up messily, looking as though they had not been tidied for many days.
Ji Minghuan stepped inside the shrine, the torches along the corridor lit up one by one, and then two demons, sitting cross-legged and resting with closed eyes, appeared before the duo.
[Mission triggered by "Event Card": Clear the B-grade demons within the shrine—"Asura Demon" and "Yaksha Demon" within five minutes.]
On the left was the Asura Demon, with three faces and six arms.
Its front face was human-like, eyes glaring angrily, a third vertical eye splitting open between its brows; the side faces looked like blue-faced, fang-baring ghouls; its six arms held a Japanese Sword, a Vajra Pestle, a Flame Wheel, chains, a broken arrow, and a Skull Cup.
On the right was the Yaksha Demon, slender as bamboo.
Its skin was bluish-gray, covered in layers of snake scales; its joints bent like those of a beast, fingertips bore bone blades resembling eagle claws. In the center of its face, a large single eye grew horizontally, the pupil vertical, and its mouth, stretching to the ear, was filled with spiral-shaped fangs. Its back bore wings combining bat membranes and peacock feathers.
"Just by their appearance, these two seem a whole notch above the Spider Demon," thought Ji Minghuan, "According to the system’s introduction, they are B-grade demons, equivalent to the power of a Dragon-level Power User; it’s quite difficult to hunt them down alone."
As he pondered, the Asura Demon and yaksha demon slowly rose from the ground.
"You mean these?" Ayase Origami said, expressionless.
"What else?" Ji Minghuan replied, equally expressionless.
The Yaksha and Asura demons roared and charged forward, the torchlight flickering, making their forms appear as ghost-like phantoms.
Ayase Origami waved her right hand, and the Paper Dragon crouched outside the shrine suddenly spread its wings wide like a white curtain of clouds and swiftly plunged inside the shrine.
The gust of wind forced Ji Minghuan to raise his hand to shield his forehead, and moments later, he opened his eyes, his view obscured by swirling paper scraps, unable to see anything.
When the paper debris, like rain, had finally settled, he saw two heads flying through the sky; the bodies of the Asura and Yaksha demons had become headless corpses, bleeding profusely.
The Paper Dragon caught the two demon heads flying mid-air as if catching apples fallen from a tree, and crunched them with its paper-made sharp teeth in an instant.
A "crack" echoed, the blood splattering within the dragon’s pale jaws, like biting into a tomato, dyeing the jaw of the pure white dragon red.
"Just like that?" Ji Minghuan raised an eyebrow slightly.
He thought: These are two B-grade demons, equal to two Dragon-grade Power Users—like two Xia Pingzhous, two Sakurabus, two Su Zimais—Miss, you might not want to so casually swat Su Zimai away? As his brother, I’d be distressed.
"What else?" Ayase Origami replied, "They’re not dead yet, I’ve left them a life."
As she spoke, the Paper Dragon spat out the two incomplete heads like spitting seeds.
The heads of the Yaksha and Asura demons rolled across the shrine floor, eyes wide open, half of their foreheads already bitten away by the Paper Dragon, dissolved in a white sea within the dragon belly, as the swirling paper bits dissipated.
Ji Minghuan silently stepped forward, summoned the Celestial Driver, and grasped the Queen’s Statue chess piece.
The chess species’ phantom shattered with a "crack", and the Empress responded to the call.
She flashed like an arc before the two heads, slightly bowed, hands rising and falling, swiftly slashing Yaksha’s and Asura’s heads with her long and short daggers.
The demon heads split like fish meat on a chopping board, dispersing as scorching steam.
Immediately, a series of dense notification boxes climbed into Ji Minghuan’s view.
[Detected that Unit 2 has killed a B-grade demon—"Yaksha Demon," "Winter of the Wild Hunt" system’s development progress updated: 13/18 kills.]
[Detected that Unit 2 has killed a B-grade demon—"Asura Demon," "Winter of the Wild Hunt" system’s development progress updated: 14/18 kills.]
[Current advancement progress of Unit 2’s Celestial Driver "International Chess" is: 80% (Upon reaching 100% progress, your Celestial Driver will automatically evolve to the second-tier form, allowing a contract with a new demon, comprehensively enhancing the Celestial Driver’s capabilities)]
"Just need to chop down a few more demons to advance to the second tier," Ji Minghuan thought.
[Event Card "Yaksha and Asura" completed.]
[Received an Event Card as a reward: "Yaksha and Asura", the card has been added to your storage library.]
Ji Minghuan brought up the system panel, pressed the "Event Card Library" option, clicked the card in the first row on the card slot page.
The interface of the card’s description popped up.
[Event Card Name: Yaksha and Asura]
[Event Card Effect: Consuming this card temporarily transforms your form into either "Yaksha" or "Asura", but you only possess fifty percent of the demon’s abilities.]
[Tip: Selling this Event Card can exchange for a total of "1" skill point.]
"Too ugly, I don’t want to experience my body turning into a demon, might as well sell it and learn a ’Demon Hunter’ skill, save up for Disposable Demon Chess Pieces..."
Looking at the card effect, Ji Minghuan thought silently then moved his fingers slightly.
[Event Card sold, exchanged for "1" skill point.]
He pulled up the [Character Skill Tree], unsurprisingly focusing his gaze on the skills of branch two.
