Mrs. and Mr. Smith -
Chapter 2108
Chapter 2108: Chapter 21108: Vice President Chapter 2108: Chapter 21108: Vice President Entering the courtyard, they arrived at a small building. Sami Bass went up the stairs first, with Ethan Smith and Salena Carpenter following closely behind. After reaching the top of the stairs, Sami Bass halted in front of a door and gave it a knock.
“Please come in,” a familiar voice sounded from within the room.
Sami Bass pushed the door open, and Ethan Smith and Salena Carpenter entered the room. Inside, an elderly man was sitting by a desk, engrossed in reading a book.
His figure wasn't particularly robust, with a face that was somewhat stern. An almost imperceptible, yet powerful aura emanated from him.
Seeing Ethan Smith and Salena Carpenter enter, the elderly man raised his head and said with a smile, “You've arrived.”
“You are…” Upon seeing the elderly man, Ethan Smith immediately furrowed his brows.
This man wasn't the Pavilion Master, but the elderly man who had once contested with Ethan Smith for a Beast Spirit Pill at an auction!
“Oh, have you forgotten?” The elderly man poured himself some tea as he spoke.
Ethan Smith regained his composure and hurriedly responded, “So it's you, Senior!”
The elderly man waved his hand in dismissal, gesturing for Ethan Smith to take a seat. He then looked at Ethan Smith and indifferently said, “Since you've come to the Central Province, why didn't you come to see me?”
Ethan Smith chuckled wryly and answered, “Senior, ever since I arrived in the Central Province, misfortunes clung to me, I hardly dare to bother you.”
“Oh? Is that truly the case?”, the elderly man indifferently inquired.
Ethan Smith found the situation a bit awkward. In fact, he had long forgotten about it.
Moreover, it was merely a casual remark at the time. Given Ethan Smith's character, he would not have taken that as an invitation.
“Let me introduce you, this is Vice President of the Alchemist Association, Riley Lee.” Sami Bass who was sitting on the side, calmly said.
Ethan Smith was greatly startled.
Who could have thought that this man was actually the Vice President of the Alchemist Association?!
What startled Ethan Smith even more, was the surprisingly close relationship between the Alchemist Association and the Artifact Refining Guild!
“Ethan Smith, I've seen your potential in alchemy. Would you be interested in joining the Alchemist Association?” Riley Lee cut straight to the chase.
Ethan Smith stared at Riley Lee in shock, hardly believing what he had heard.
At present, the number of people offended by Ethan Smith were countless. For any normal person, they would be too busy distancing themselves, let alone extend an invitation.
“What, you're not willing?” Riley Lee sipped his tea and casually asked.
Ethan Smith replied with a wry smile, “I'm still reeling from the shock. I can't comprehend the honor of receiving a personal invitation from the Vice President of the Alchemist Association…”
Riley Lee casually responded, “I won't hide it from you, I've met many talented people. Although you are very talented, you do not warrant a personal invitation from me.”
Ethan Smith doesn't dare to interrupt, he simply waits for him to continue.
“But someone strongly recommended you to me.” Riley Lee casually added.
Ethan Smith fell silent for a moment, before finally asking, “The person you're referring to, is it Martha Evans?”
“Correct,” Riley Lee simply replied.
“According to her, your potential even exceeds her own. While I may not believe it in its entirety, I am willing to welcome you into the Alchemist Association,” Riley Lee said with a thin smile.
Ethan Smith quickly asked, “How is she doing now?”
“Don't worry, she is well. You should take care of yourself instead.” Riley Lee shook his head disapprovingly.
Ethan Smith also responded with a bitter smile and said, “President Lee, right now I'm considered a public enemy to the Great Families. By joining the Alchemist Association at this time, I fear it may bring you trouble…”
“Hahaha!” Riley Lee waved his hand and said, “Do you believe that the Great Families would act against the Alchemist Association? Besides, Thunder Courtyard is on your side.”
“Alchemist Association, Artifact Refining Guild, or Thunder Courtyard. Even one of these organizations alone may not be enough to make the Great Families fearful, but if all three of them unite, no one in the Holy Region would dare to show them disrespect.”
“To be honest with you, my invitation to you to join the Alchemist Association, aside from your talents and Martha Evans' recommendation, there's another reason.”
Ethan Smith said in a grave voice, “Is it because of Thunder Courtyard?”
“Correct!” Riley Lee affirmed, satisfied with the response.
“Over the years, the Alchemist Association has been seeking to collaborate with Thunder Courtyard. More specifically, we have been trying to persuade Dean Garner to establish a branch of the Alchemist Association within the Courtyard to select potential talents. Unfortunately, Dean Garner has repeatedly refused. However, now that we have you, we might have a new opportunity,” Riley Lee smiled.
Ethan Smith, still puzzled, asked, “Why doesn't the Alchemist Association set up its own academy to enroll talents directly?”
“That would contradict the original intentions of our Alchemist Association. As you can see, while the reputation of the Alchemist Association in the Holy Region may not be substantial, it's because we do not wish to engage in worldly affairs,” explained Riley Lee.
“Oh, are you trying to play innocent and virtuous here?” Salena Carpenter muttered under her breath.
Ethan Smith's expression darkened, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.
Riley Lee, on the other hand, could not help but laugh. Following that, he started laughing heartily.
“Rough words, but the logic is sound,” Riley Lee smiled and then turned to look at Salena Carpenter, asking, “So, you're one of Dean Garner's personally trained disciples, right?”
“Correct,” Salena Carpenter didn't conceal anything, responding immediately.
Riley Lee laughed, “With the help of you two, I believe Dean Garner will agree.”
Ethan Smith remained silent, as if considering something.
“I can give you a few days to consider it,” Riley Lee declared, seeing his state.
Ethan Smith gave a bitter smile, “While I yearn to join the Alchemist Association, now, my focus lies elsewhere. If there is a chance in the future, I will definitely pay a visit.”
At this point, Ethan Smith turned to look at Salena Carpenter before continuing, “President Lee, if you wish to collaborate with Thunder Courtyard, there's no need to go through me. Salena Carpenter's help is more than enough.”
Right now, Ethan Smith had too many matters to attend to, he was not in the mood for alchemy.
Moreover, the Day of Heaven's Mandate was quickly approaching. When the time comes, Ethan Smith might go off wandering with Emily Taylor.
“Are you really not going?” Riley Lee asked earnestly.
Ethan Smith gave a firm nod, saying, “I truly apologise for letting down your good intentions.”
“Alright, then I won't force the matter,” Riley Lee waved his hand.
Ethan Smith gave a slight bow to express his apology.
Just then, Ethan Smith suddenly remembered something.
“Oh, President Lee, I want to ask you for a favor,” Ethan Smith urgently spoke.
Riley Lee gave a slight nod, prompting Ethan Smith to continue.
Ethan Smith thought of Daphne Green, he then frowned and said, “I have a friend who is terribly poisoned, she's unable to cultivate now. Only the Alchemist Association can save her now, so I was thinking…”
“No,” Riley Lee shook his head,” According to Alchemist Association's rules, we would absolutely not intervene. Even if it was the Holy Lord of the Great Families, it still depends on our willingness.”
Ethan Smith sighed and nodded in understanding.
At this moment, Riley Lee continued, “However…if you joined the Alchemist Associations, then we would have a valid reason to help your friend.”
